Chapter 76: Fiercely loyal

"Tell me everything. How was the engagement party?" Eamon asked as they took a stroll in the garden and Damon smiled as he recalled memories of that night.

"It was good.I feel so happy that things between Alexander and I are getting more serious." Damon admitted and Eamon’s eyes darted around the garden.

His friend’s fiance was nowhere in sight.

"Where is Alexander?" Eamon asked and Damon’s smile faded as a soft sigh escaped his lips.

"He left this morning. Alexander is determined to find a way of breaking my curse so I reluctantly let him go on this quest." Damon explained, missing his fiance already. freewёbnoνel.com

They walked in silence for a while as Eamon processed the new piece of information.

He really hoped that the man indeed found a way of saving his best friend.

"He really loves you." Eamon admitted and Damon’s eyes were pained as he briefly glanced at him.

"I know, that’s why I am deeply worried of what will happen to him if this doesn’t work out. Alex will be broken." Damon couldn’t help the lone tear that rolled down his cheek.

"Hey, don’t think of the worst case scenarios. Have more hope." Eamon’s voice was soft and comforting.

Damon tried to smile and lighten up because he didn’t want to worry his friend.

"I am glad you are here." Damon admitted as they continued walking, glad that he wasn’t going to so lonely now that Alexander had left.

He had his family and a few more friends but having his closest friend around made him feel much better.

"Me too." Eamon confessed as he reached out and squeezed his friend’s shoulder in a comforting grip.

"How long will you be staying?" Damon asked and Eamon’s eyes were warm as he gazed at him.

"For as long as you need me to." Eamon replied and Damon was touched as he threw his arms around his friend and hugged him tightly, tears slowly rolling down his cheeks.

"Sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve you." Damon sniffled and Eamon smiled as he patted his friend’s back comfortingly.

"That feeling is mutual." Eamon admitted, briefly remembering his childhood when Damon had been there for him through thick and thin.

Damon had been his family when he had lost his at a young age and he had sworn he was always going to be there for him.

The man was like a brother to him.

.....

Valerion tried not to let his possessiveness get to his head when Eamon walked into their room and his scent was mixed with that of the crown prince.

Eamon sensed his mate’s jealousy and his eyes were soft as he walked over to the dragon and briefly kissed his cheek.

"Don’t be jealous. I hugged him because I was comforting him. He is my best friend." Eamon explained and Valerion sighed softly as his eyes met his mate’s in an understanding gaze.

"I know, I just can’t help it." Valerion admitted and Eamon wrapped his arms around his mate’s waist and hugged him.

"It’s okay, baby. How do you feel about a shower? Let’s bathe together." Eamon smiled mischievously, knowing that the only way his mate was going to fully relax was if Damon’s scent was no longer on his clothes.

Valerion’s eyes darkened with desire as he swept his mate off the ground, making Eamon straddle him.

"Yeah, let’s do that." Valerion smirked as he carried Eamon to the bathroom and got the crown prince’s scent off him before effortlessly seducing him.

Eamon fell asleep after they had made love and he woke up when it was darkening outside.

"Hey." Valerion’s familiar voice made his body tingle once he opened his eyes and found the dragon gazing at him.

"Hey." Eamon smiled, as he snuggled closer to his mate.

"We have been invited to dinner. We should be heading out in fifteen minutes if we don’t want to be late." Valerion informed him and the only response he got from his mate was as small murmur as Eamon’s hands tightened around him.

Eamon wanted to stay in bed a little longer and Valerion tried not chuckle as he placed a kiss on top of his mate’s head.

"I could reject the invitation." Valerion said and Eamon looked up at him.

"No, let’s go. I promised Damon I was going to be there for him and if it means appearing for the smallest things like dinner, then that’s what I am going to do." Eamon said seriously and Valerion smiled as his palm cupped his mate’s cheek lovingly.

"You are fiercely loyal." Valerion noted, enjoying the discovery of one more amazing character trait that his mate had.

"Yes." Eamon smiled as his eyes held a promise that didn’t go unnoticed by Valerion.

’I am loyal to you as well and will always be.’

Eamon didn’t need to say the words. Valerion could sense his undying devotion through their bond and the dragon’s heart raced as he leaned in and captured his mate’s lips in a passionate kiss.

"We should get ready for dinner." Eamon’s voice was a husky whisper when Valerion pulled away and his mate nodded in approval.

They headed out once they were properly dressed for dinner and they found Eros and Damon already seated.

The rest of Damon’s family was also present and Eamon bowed slightly as he greeted the queen and king.

Valerion who had no idea why his mate had bowed, didn’t say a word and just did the same.

Eros had gotten quite close with the twins and he appeared to be attentively listening and occasionally laughing at whatever they were telling him.

Eamon took a seat next to Damon and Valerion sat next to his mate as well, no longer jealous of the deep connection Eamon shared with the crown prince.

Dinner went well and the next day, Damon found himself disliking Valerion less and less as he noticed how the dragon genuinely cared for his best friend.

They spent most of day shooting targets, sword fighting and hunting.

His sisters had joined in on the shooting and the other dragon, Eros had been genuinely impressed with how well they shot.

He just had an air of friendliness that made it hard for Damon not to like him.

By the time they retired for the evening, everyone confessed to having had a nice day and even Valerion who was not as talkative as his nephew appreciated Damon’s efforts to keep them entertained.
