Cultivation Daddy-Chapter 136 - 135: The Matter is Final Solve
When he saw the remains of his tavern, he had the urge to cry. Half of the day wasn’t even over, and he’s already homeless.
It could be said that the fight did Li Jain more harm than good, but he saw what he wanted to see, and the result wasn’t so bad. The ghost servants were as strong as they should be. As for Liu Xiong, his fight against the Divine Power realm elder shows that he was right to suspect him all along. Li Jain was also aware that Liu Xiong was reducing his strength to match that of the elder. If not for that, the outcome would have been unimaginable.
As for the others, they seemed to have no idea about the real situation and only wanted to watch the two fight and enjoy themselves, because their lives weren’t in the slightest danger. If it wasn’t for the preparation he made, lots of people wouldn’t have gotten hurt.
Li Jain looked ahead in the distance and thought he should thank those cultivators as well. If it wasn’t for them helping out the common people, this might end in tragedy.
Li Jain couldn’t believe that he didn’t take the civilians into consideration!
Li Jain looked at the destroyed tavern with regret on his face: This was my property.
After they enter the ruins, Li Jain releases the protective barrier and apologizes to his guests, then dismisses them. He took out a set of tables and chairs from his spatial ring and the three sat down. All of the tavern’s walls were broken. Luckily, the things in the storage room were not valuable and all of the important stuff were in their spatial rings. They would find them when they got back home.
At first, Li Jain didn’t expect this old man to give up so easily. It was clear that the old man was someone whom the younger generation feared greatly! And judging by the way the elder was acting earlier, this means he has great standing and was very arrogant. But after his fight with Liu Xiong, he was suddenly easy to deal with. Li Jain felt a little bit curious about what he had discovered.
"Li Zhen, come out." Li Jain called out, a moment later, Li Zhen with a pale face came out.
"My name is Li Jain, the young owner of this tavern. This person here is my cousin, Li Zhen." Li Jain said pointing at Li Zhen: "He is the one you’re after, and I’d like to know what he did for an elder like you to trouble yourself in wanting his lowly life."
The old man looked up. His gaze fell on Li Zhen. His face twisted in anger. "So, he’s your cousin, no wonder you protected him so well! All those talks about protocols were just nonsense!"
"Sorry for the trouble." Li Jain didn’t deny it but apologized instead.
There was a flash of coldness in the old man’s eyes: "This old man is called Mu Zhuiqing, ranked sixth among the elders of Heaven House in South River City. You can call me Elder Mu if you want."
Li Zhen’s heart shuddered when he heard the title. It was actually Mu Zhuiqing, the old fox that came after him. If he hadn’t ran to his cousin’s place, he would’ve been dead now!
With a stern voice, Mu Zhuiqing ordered in a low voice, "Bring him and take him to our Heaven House to await sentencing."
"But... you haven’t told me what he did wrong yet." Li Jain said
"Hmph, youngsters nowadays are just too bold! They dare to interfere in affairs of higher levels. That’s the problem!"
Seeing the hatred in the old man’s eyes, Li Jain smiled wryly inside. So it turns out that those two guys had caused some trouble for him before.
"He took something from the gambling house that he shouldn’t have taken." Mu Zhuiqing explained: "And that thing is top secret and shouldn’t be taken out. This kid’s death wish is just too strong."
As soon as he finished speaking, Li Zhen paled and his body trembled. It turned out that the things that were taken weren’t normal!
"After losing all of my savings and house on the gambling board, I was desperate. I just couldn’t afford to lose everything and leave without anything, so I took the thing to threaten them. Unexpectedly, everyone seemed to lose their minds and tried to kill me. I only managed to escape narrowly, the next thing I know, my wanted posters were all over the city."
Mu Zhuiqing frowned and glared at Li Zhen, who still had the courage to speak up.
Li Zhen swallowed and replied weakly: "Elder Mu, please calm yourself and rest assured. If I knew that thing was valuable enough to give me my life, I wouldn’t have taken it!"
Mu Zhuiqing nodded as he lowered his head. The anger in his heart subsided slowly. Although he was angry, he couldn’t be too unreasonable. From the youth explanation, it shows that he really has no idea of how valuable the thing he took is. That means the thing was still intact.
"Where is it? Take it out!" Mu Zhuiqing demanded.
Li Zhen immediately went forward and retrieved a small pouch from his storage ring. He handed it over to Mu Zhuiqing respectfully: "See this for yourself!"
Mu Zhuiqing reached out and touched his fingers over the object. In a while, he lifted his head and asked, frowning: "What did you think this was?"
"A stone?" Li Jain asked puzzlingly, but he knew it was much more than that. A stone that is worth a life is no ordinary stone.
Li Zhen nodded his head and continued: "That stone was found lying in the corner of the house. It was in a small formation, so I thought it had a bit more value based on how everyone treated it."
Mu Zhuiqing’s expression darkened and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly: "What do you mean by lying there? It was clearly the heart of a formation. And that’s a level nine formation!"
That’s the main reason they were hunting Li Zhen, because level nine formation array is not something most people are able to control. Even him, a master in the Divine Power realm, couldn’t break through such a formation forcefully. Given how easily it was taken out by Li Zhen, they thought someone had sent him, so before the stone fell into the wrong hand, they decided to kill him first and silence him.
"What is this stone?" Li Jain asked curiously.
Mu Zhuiqing hesitated for a while but still didn’t say anything in the end.
The less people know about this stone the better, after all, it was the secret of the Heaven House.
There’s something in every Heaven’s gambling House in major cities that many people don’t know about, except their core members. This thing is called the Samsara Gambling Core. It is a forbidden, living artifact buried beneath the association’s headquarters. It was a cultivation engine built on harvested lifespans and souls.
Every high-stake gamble it secretly wagers lifespan and soul fragments. The core records all outcomes and converts negative emotions into refined life essence. This essence can be used to extend lives. This is why most gamblers die young, because once they become addicted, they end up losing more and more of their longevity and soul fragments over time, unknown to them.
What Li Zhen stole was the Heart Fragment of the Samsara Gambling Core, which is placed in every gambling room and is used to extract energy from the souls of gamblers.
"Since the item had been found, this old man would return. As for you, the association would decide what to do with you next." With these words, Mu Zhuiqing stood up and was about to leave when Li Jain stopped him.
Li Jain: "Senior, I would like you to pass on the punishment now if it’s not too much trouble."
Mu Zhuiqing looked back with interest: "What do you have in mind?"
"I want my cousin to never be around nor enter any gambling house ever again!"
When Mu Zhuiqing heard what Li Jain said, he raised an eyebrow: "Oh?"
Li Jain: "Heaven House is the biggest gambling house in the whole continent. I’m sure if you ban him, no other gambling house would take him in."
Mu Zhuiqing thought to himself: Banning an addicted gambler is a loss for the gambling association. But this Li Jain guy was not simple. He has so many powerful individuals willing to fight for him. Not to mention this Liu Xiong guy who he suspects to be in the Holy Master or Feudal Lord realm. Although it sounds hard to believe, he couldn’t risk being enemies with such a person for... now.
"Ok, I can do you the favor. Once I return to South River City, the law will be passed at once." Mu Zhuiqing said and left.
Li Zhen’s face turned white as a sheet instantly upon hearing what Mu Zhuiqing had said: "How can you get me banned from gambling houses?! You used to gamble as well, I thought we were friends!"
Li Jain shrugged casually and replied: "You still haven’t learned your lesson? If you don’t care about your cheap life, what about your family? Also, are you going to pay for the damages you caused to my house and this town?!"
Li Zhen’s lips trembled; he was so angry but couldn’t come up with anything to say. After a while, he said he and Li Jain were no longer friends and left.
"Why were you even trying to protect such a guy?" Liu Xiong asked puzzlingly. If he had known, he wouldn’t waste his time fighting that old man. Just feed the guy to the dogs.
