Cultivation Daddy-Chapter 137 - 136: Moving to South River City (1)
"What should we do now?" Liu Xiong rested his head on his hand and sighed heavily.
"Where have you been?" Li Jain asked, changing the subject.
"Well, I had a few things to take care of. I don’t know why everyone’s acting up lately. So much work to do."
"Yeah, you look like you’ve been taking care of quite a lot," Li Jain retorted, raising an eyebrow at Liu Xiong.
"Ahem," Liu Xiong cleared his throat and continued: "So, why did you do this?" Liu Xiong used his eyes to point at the house that was now in ruins.
Li Jain was a bit embarrassed. He knew that his actions were impulsive. He couldn’t tell Liu Xiong that he brought such a disaster upon them just to test his manpower. It was a moment of clarity loss in regret.
"It was a test... for me, myself. I thought I could push the limits and see what I could truly handle."
Liu Xiong raised an eyebrow: "What did you find?"
Li Jain sighed: "I might have underestimated the consequences." Li Jain stood up and said: "Come, let’s pay a visit to the town’s mayor to compensate him for the damage. "
He had to make some arrangements before the children came back from school. Just thinking about their sad faces broke his heart. Liu Xiong followed Li Jain into town, although the damage from battle wasn’t great on the surrounding area, you can still see the impact.
There was debris everywhere, the road had broken into two halves, and the building on top had completely collapsed.
After walking for a while, they reach a large area where almost every store has its windows smashed, and even the doors are broken. They could hear voices of people arguing and screaming inside. The streets were crowded with people.
Oh, ok. Li Jain thought.
Liu Xiong held his hand gently: "Let’s go and check it out."
Li Jain smiled as he nodded his head: "Sure."
The people inside the destroyed buildings seemed agitated. As soon as they walked in the door, everyone stopped and looked at them, especially him. Their expressions were friendly.
After living in Qingyang town for a few months, this was the first time Li Jain saw the town’s mayor.
The mayor was a middle-aged man with graying hair who looked very calm, unlike those that were shouting madly earlier. Upon seeing the people walk in, he greeted them: "You’re here Mr. Li. It’s unfortunate that such a thing happened. Everyone’s anxious, they haven’t experienced such a thing before and there is quite a lot of damage."
"Although the Spiritual Tavern made our town famous, it doesn’t deserve this risk!" An elderly man said angrily.
"We’re just a small town with more mortals than cultivators. We can’t afford any big fights. As long as the Spiritual Tavern is here, things like this will happen frequently."
"Exactly. I think that we should stop this now before anything else happens."
At this moment, another middle aged man with short black hair standing behind the Mayor spoke suddenly.
"Everyone, please calm down, as you can see, Mr. Li is here. Let’s hear what he got to say." The Mayor said, trying to calm everyone down.
He understood their worries, but he can’t just close down the Spiritual Tavern. One reason is that he doesn’t have such an authority, although he’s the mayor, most of his decisions have to be approved by old patriarch Yan before it can be effective. Another thing is that the Spiritual Tavern has brought many benefits to their town. It is also one of the main reasons why the town is thriving.
If they closed down, the livelihood of the town’s residents would suffer and there’s no way they would stay in peace.
In order to ensure the good future for the town, the Spiritual Tavern has to be around.
Li Jain smiled slightly: "No problem, sir. This entire disaster is my fault. I was too oversighted and didn’t take the common people’s well-being into consideration."
The Mayor smiled lightly and said: "Please continue."
"First let’s settle the issue of the town’s repairman before talking about relocating. Since this is my fault, I will fix it personally." Li Jain took out a bag of gold from his spatial ring.
Liu Xiong whispered in Li Jain’s ear: "What are you doing?"
"Compensating for the damage." Li Jain replied, without batting an eye.
Liu Xiong looked at Li Jain and then at the bag. He felt speechless and shook his head. Why does he always forget that this guy was a rich prodigal son? He is the type to always treat others well even if he himself does not receive much thanks! He’s really something.
The mayor didn’t expect Li Jain to be so straight forward. But he likes this, it saves the trouble of beating around the bush. He nodded: "Then please go ahead Mr. Li."
Li Jain passed the bag to the mayor and smiled: "This money is enough for the town repairs. You are also free to use it however you like."
The mayor looked at Li Jain suspiciously and after checking the amount, he was speechless. So much gold!!!
"How much is this?"
"One million golds." Li Jain replied.
The crowd in the room burst into discussion at that price. The Mayor was shocked and looked at Li Jain with doubt in his eyes.
"Mr. Li is generous."
"That’s so expensive! How can he afford all this?!"
"Are you forgetting that he’s the owner of the Spiritual Tavern?"
"Yeah, compared to spirit stones, gold and silvers are nothing to cultivators."
"Wow! A million golds. You must be rich indeed! Thank you Mr. Li for the money. I’m happy to see such a young man coming to help us!"
"That’s right, thank you Mr. Li!"
Li Jain waved his hands: "Don’t worry, once again I’m sorry for the damage. If there’s anything I can help with, please don’t hesitate to tell me." With that said and done, he left the mayor’s residence.
"Xiao Li, wait!" Boss Lan called after him.
Li Jain turned around and saw Boss Lan coming toward him. He was smiling and said: "Boss Lan, what is it? Can I help you with anything?"
Boss Lan patted Li Jain’s shoulder lightly: "Little Jain, I was wondering when you’ll visit our business. Now that you did, we’ll definitely get a better business opportunity."
"You flatter me, I haven’t gotten the chance to thank you yet. I’m sure the damage isn’t large because of you."
"Don’t mention it. It’s not every day you’ll see the battle between kings." Boss Lan laughed and waved his hands.
"Boss Lan, can you do me a favor?" Li Jain asked, looking serious.
Boss Lan nodded and replied: "Anything for the little Li, what do you need?"
Li Jain told Boss Lan to gather all the cultivators that help protect the town, at his restaurant. Boss Lan did as he was told, he wasn’t worried about someone lying just to get in, because those who helped knew each other and also pointed out those that refused at the time.
Li Jain thanked them personally, he gave them spiritual dishes, wines, and pills. He even gives out cultivation techniques. Those random cultivators didn’t expect such a huge opportunity to fall upon them! Some of them only set up protective barriers to show off, but now the merit is more than what they had imagined.
Soon, the news of the incident spread throughout the town. After Li Jain left, the whole town’s population gathered outside the mayor’s office. Many of them began discussing this matter.
When Li Jain got home, his workers were cleaning up the mess. He told them to leave it and gather around.
"We can’t stay here for the time being. As for now, all of you have a two weeks’ vacation. Once I’ve settled, I’ll summon you." Li Jain said calmly.
His words had already caught everyone’s attention.
"Two week’s vacation? Where should we go?" Ding Weiyuan asked
"It’s a vacation, you can go anywhere you want. I’m sure you guys have other things to take care of." Li Jain replied.
Hearing this, everyone began to smile. They indeed have unfinished matters to attend to, but it wasn’t urgent. If possible, it would be nice to go somewhere relaxing.
Bai Lian asked: "Master, what about you? Are you going to stay in Qingyang town?"
"No, the kids and I would go to South River City." Li Jain said
Speaking of the kids, they’ll be here soon. He was actually nervous about their reactions when they saw the house.
Five minutes later, the flying carriage descended and the children came out one after another.
Li Zhang: "Did we come to the wrong place?"
Li Juanxin: "It can’t be right? This whole place looks like it was run over by a wild boar!"
Li Jingxuan: "What happened here?" sked nervously while scratching his head.
Li Jingsheng said: "Don’t look at me. We all left and came back together.
"I’m afraid to say that our house was destroyed." Li Yujian said with a slight frown on his face.
"Isn’t it interesting? You went to school for the first time in two weeks and we lost our home." Li Yuhan said provokingly to Li Yujian.
"Don’t talk nonsense!" Li Jain scolded harshly, while the others laughed.
