At the Spiritual Tavern, business was booming as usual. Customers came and ate in while some ordered takeout.

A young lady dressed in light blue robes with a silver hairpin, walked in. She has delicate facial features, her skin was pale, and her long hair was tied back neatly.

She walked to the counter to order a takeout when she saw Fan Ruyin. Her eyebrow twitched slightly. I’m surprised.

"I’m here to buy some food, my grandfather would soon be going into seclusion. The question is, what are you doing here?" Xie Qingyi said nonchalantly.

It seems that she doesn’t have much interest in talking to people who are not relevant to her. But she really wanted to know why Fan Ruyin was here at the Spiritual Tavern in Qingyuan Town.

These were all meals that could increase the success rate of a higher realm breakthrough. The cost would be quite pricey though and a lot of spiritual energy required in order to consume them. A fifty percent discount should be considered very lucky. Fan Ruyin nodded in delight.

"Very well," She said and looked at Bai Lian who was standing behind the counter as if he wasn’t hearing their discussions: "Why are you just standing there? Hurry up and prepare the things, also give her a fifty percent discount."

"That is not possible." Bai Lian replied bluntly.

Fan Ruyin couldn’t help but frown at that: "What do you mean it’s not possible?"

Her expression was stiffened, she’d just boasted to Xie Qingyi and offered her a fifty percent discount. If she’s not able to keep her words in the end, wouldn’t that make her a laughing stock of the entire town?

"This is the boss’ business and everything is set at a set price, we can’t just change it based on your whim," Bai Lian stated firmly.

"Your boss is my children’s father! You dare to argue with me?" Fan Ruyin snapped, getting annoyed by his obstinance.

Bai Lian ignored her: "Giving a half price for such expensive dishes is not kindness, just ignorance that’ll damage the boss’s hard work."

Some customers were already watching the show and laughing among themselves at her predicament.

Xie Qingyi, on the other hand, kept silent, she knew Fan Ruyin was a fool with big dreams but she wouldn’t say no to a half price.

Bai Lian saw that Fan Ruyin was angry and embarrassed. She was the boss guest so he couldn’t go too far. After giving it a thought, he decided to reduce the percentage: "Twenty percent off is the most that can be given."

"Fine," Fan Ruyin huffed out in anger gazing at Bai Lian hatefully: "I’ll tell Li Jain about your ’good’ behavior today!"

Bai Lian narrowed his eyes: "You don’t have to bother. I’ll report this matter myself."

"Thank you." Xie Qingyi said after getting her orders.

Fan Ruyin didn’t care about Bai Lian, she walked Xie Qingyi outside, and watched as Xie Qingyi took off in a grand flying carriage. She knew that she’d done Xie Qingyi a favor this time and was satisfied with her own actions.

Meanwhile, Xie Qingyi just smiled coldly. She sees Fan Ruyin as someone who’s not worthy of being in her circle of friends. After all, Fan Ruyin is just a lowly brothel girl who had gotten caught cheating with upper class men by their women numerous times.

As for being on her good side, it was all wishful thinking.

Li Jain was still waiting outside Moonstone Scholars’ Institute, when a butterfly landed on the carriage window.

It wasn’t a real butterfly, it was made of paper and had spiritual infusions in it to make it fly.

It was a message telling him to come immediately that his son had gotten into a fight with another student and the child’s parent was there too.

Li Jain’s eyebrows furrowed together. Something is definitely amiss, if it’s just a simple fight, the Academy wouldn’t send a message to urge him.

He couldn’t take the carriage, because Juanxin would panic if he saw that he was gone. So Li Jain had no choice but to hurry to Vermillion Sword Hall using his wind technique.

The air gathered under his feet , forming a whirlwind which then turned into a white mist. He shot forward, turning into a blur of wind.

Inside the headmaster office of Vermillion Sword Hall, an angry woman’s voice could be heard shouting and cursing. Her anger was directed towards the boys standing on the side. The teachers tried to calm her down but she paid no attention to them.

Behind her stood another boy around the same age, that’s her son Yan Zhenghao. His face was swollen so badly it was almost unrecognizable, one eye completely shut, lips split, bruises crawling down his neck.

"You little beast! The Yan family took pity on you! Fed you! Let you live like a person! And you dare lay hands on my Zhenghao?! Who gave you permission?! Since your parents are too busy to teach you manners, I’ll do it for them!"

The furious woman grabbed the taller boy by his collar and slapped him harshly while he let out miserable screams.

"Yuhan!" Li Zhang cried out loud, and ran towards his brother in fear.

This is the scene Li Jain saw when he arrived.

A woman in the Soul Palace Realm dares to slap a child in the Physical Body realm using her soul force. No matter how you look at it, she intended to kill him.

If it wasn’t for the defense talisman that Li Jain secretly put on his children in case of extreme emergency, his second son would’ve been dead!

Li Jain blood boiled and his eyes went red from anger.

While the woman was still cursing furiously, a strong force suddenly yanked her back. Before she realized what was happening, her neck was in someone’s hand and her feet were off the ground.

She wanted to curse but he held her neck firmly, her eyes widened in disbelief as she struggled.

Li Jain raised his free hand and slapped her in the face. It sent her crashing onto the floor.

The room filled with her pained cries. The next moment, she was back in his hands again.

This action was repeated three times before the others reacted.

They did not expect someone to intervene so violently. Moreover, they did not expect the intervening person to be able to suppress her so completely.

She was Soul Palace first level and the man was also in the Soul Palace Realm. Yet she could not break free. How come there’s such huge differences between them?

Li Jain’s eyes were calm, when the teachers came forward and pleaded for him to let her go when they saw that she was almost out of breath, he let go of her with another slap.

With both her cheeks burning red from the pain, she looked up angrily. But just as they were about to breathe a sigh of relief, she was back in his hand again.

The teacher was scared out of their wits. If he continues to attack her like this, then he will surely kill her.
