Chapter 370: Chapter 370: Feeling Helpless

"Miss Mercer, what accident did you have?"

Amelia suppressed her sigh and tentatively asked.

Upon hearing the question, Sarah’s eyes flickered.

"I had a car accident a while ago, almost got disfigured, so my face is still in the recovery period. And my throat is inflamed, that’s why it sounds like this."

"I see, fortunately, you’re safe."

Amelia didn’t doubt and asked again, "Was that child just now your daughter?"

"Yes."

"What about your husband?"

Amelia asked abruptly.

Only after asking did she realize her question was abrupt.

"Sorry, Miss Mercer, I didn’t mean to pry into your privacy, just felt an immediate connection with you."

Her temperament was so much like Kiki’s, that’s why she instinctively wanted to chat with her.

"It’s okay, just call me Brooke."

Sarah’s heart softened, understanding Amelia’s feeling.

Seeing an old friend, how could one not feel a sense of closeness?

"My husband... passed away."

Sarah paused, "He was a bodyguard for the Moore Home. Because of opposition from my parents, I eloped with him years ago. During a trip, he had an accident and has been missing since; I think he must have passed away."

This was what Frost told her about Sarah’s husband.

She just repeated the story.

"Sorry."

Amelia apologized again, reaching out to hold Sarah’s hand.

"It’s okay, it’s all in the past."

Sarah smiled, "Elly, can I call you that?"

"Of course."

"Hmm, Elly, tell me about you and your fiancé."

She has been away for so long and really wants to know everything that happened to her best friend.

"My fiancé is named Damon Hawke. Speaking of it, my encounter with him was purely accidental..."

Amelia slowly narrated her story with Damon Hawke.

Sarah listened quietly, watching her best friend’s still graceful profile, her eyes showing a hint of wistfulness.

Turns out, there have been so many things happening to her best friend since she left.

I guess when Damon had his accident, she must have felt so helpless and lost.

I wish I could have been by her side at that time.

Even if I couldn’t do much, I could at least offer some comfort.

"Alright, my story ends here."

Amelia held Sarah’s hand, smiling, "Brooke, I really feel connected to you. Your temperament is so much like my best friend, if you weren’t Miss Mercer, I’d honestly think you were my best friend."

Upon hearing this, Sarah’s eyes flickered.

"You’ve mentioned your best friend several times; did something happen to her?"

"Yes, she had an accident; she fell into the sea and is missing."

Thinking of Leia Quinn, Amelia’s eyes showed a hint of darkness.

"I have no idea where she is now. When she had her accident, I wasn’t by her side; she must have felt so helpless."

She was indeed very helpless.

So helpless that she wanted to die immediately.

Sarah’s hand unconsciously tightened.

Amelia was holding her hand and felt the force from Sarah, she raised her head in pain.

"Brooke, what’s wrong?"

Sarah returned to herself, suddenly realizing her emotions were out of control, quickly released her grip.

"Sorry, did I hurt you? I was just reminded of how I felt during my accident; I could empathize deeply."

She said she would forget the past.

But it seems she’s still too inexperienced.

Thinking of a certain man, her emotions still experience slight fluctuations.

Amelia glanced at her reddened hand, deep in thought.

At this moment, not far away, the sound of a child humming reached them.

Amelia turned her head and saw the servant walking over, holding the little one.

"Miss, Coco is looking for you."

The servant arrived next to Sarah, smiling.

Sarah curved her lips, clapping her hands towards the little one.

The little one immediately hummed twice, opening her small arms in a coquettish manner to her.

Sarah took the little one from the servant’s arms, kissed her milky scented little cheek.

The little one and she were very much in sync.

Perhaps... because she almost became a mother once.

From now on, she decided to raise the little one as her biological daughter.

Thinking of falling into the water, the stomach pain at that moment, Sarah quickly avoided recalling.

Afraid that if she thought about the lost child, she would be uncontrollably crying in despair.

"Is she called Coco?"

Amelia looked at the little one’s adorable face and clapped her hands at her.

"Coco, would you like Auntie to hold you?"

The little one leaned against Sarah and tilted her head to observe Amelia, grinning and shyly hiding in Sarah’s neck.

"So cute! Coco, do you want to come back with Auntie? Auntie has two little brothers at home, they can play with Coco."

Amelia was amused by the little one’s charming demeanor, she held her tiny hand and asked.

The little one didn’t understand, she just looked at Amelia and smiled.

Sarah heard Amelia mention the two little ones, her heart was filled with longing.

They are her godsons.

In a few days, she’ll be able to see them too.

Nightfall arrived.

Amelia stayed in the guest room of Moore Home.

The two little ones called her through a video call.

"Mommy, where are you now?"

Bea blinked her big eyes and took the lead to ask.

"Children, Mommy found the miracle doctor, now I’m at the miracle doctor’s house."

Amelia answered with a smile.

"Really? Mommy, you’re amazing, you found the miracle doctor so quickly! Does that mean you can soon bring the doctor back home to treat Daddy?"

Bea looked excited.

Beside her, Dominic also had eyes shining brightly, staring at Amelia.

"Yes, once the miracle doctor finishes handling his personal matters here, I’ll take him home to treat your daddy."

Amelia said with a smile.

"That’s great. Mommy, does Daddy know?" Dominic asked.

"He knows I’ve found the miracle doctor, but he doesn’t know the doctor agreed to come home with me."

"Then when he comes back, we’ll tell him this good news." Dominic said.

Amelia checked the time, "Is Daddy still busy?"

It’s already past nine, has he still not returned to the Hawke Family’s old residence?

"Yes, Daddy is now busy working by the seaside. Don’t worry, he’s not with that bad woman."

Dominic seemed to know what Amelia was going to ask, and replied.

Amelia felt a bit strange.

It’s like a divorced woman, taking advantage of her son to inquire about her ex-husband, wanting to remarry him.

Cough, cough.

What am I thinking?

I am clearly the legitimate girlfriend, right?

Amelia chatted casually with the two little ones for a while, then hung up the phone.

Sitting on the sofa, she thought for a moment and sent a message to Damon Hawke.

"Still busy?"

The message went out for a long time, but there was no reply.

He must be busy?

Amelia waited for a long time without seeing a reply from Damon, so she lay on the bed, and as she waited, she fell asleep.

At this moment, Damon was standing by the seaside dock, letting the wind blow his clothes.

The tall figure merged with the night, solemn and cold.
