Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 371: Treating Him Like a Son
Footsteps came from behind, and Gavin Miles arrived accompanied by James Lee.
"Mr. Hawke, you’re quite dedicated, still here overseeing everything yourself."
Gavin Miles walked to Damon Hawke’s side, a faint smile playing at his lips.
Damon Hawke glanced at him indifferently, "Of course, I need to keep an eye on things. After all, since you want me to place a billion-dollar order, I have to check the samples first."
Tonight, Gavin had brought over a shipment, calling it an "appetizer."
He thought he had Damon Hawke cornered, so he didn’t hide anything.
Little did he know, he was courting disaster.
"Alright, take a look then. Once you’re done, shouldn’t we sign our contract?"
Gavin Miles had a triumphant look on his face.
"Okay."
Damon responded calmly.
The dim streetlights cast a shadow over his figure, his handsome face betraying no emotion.
Soon, the cargo ship slowly docked at the pier.
Someone disembarked and exchanged greetings with Gavin Miles.
Damon Hawke didn’t step forward but watched the smile unfold on Gavin’s face.
Smile away.
This was probably his last smile.
Soon, he wouldn’t be smiling anymore.
"Mr. Hawke, aren’t you coming to take a look?"
Gavin Miles gestured for Damon Hawke to come forward and inspect the goods.
Damon raised an eyebrow but didn’t move.
Just then, sirens wailed, and several police cars rushed over, surrounding everyone present.
Then, officers emerged from the cars, guns trained on Gavin and his men.
"This isn’t good, how did the police know to come?"
James Lee’s face changed, standing beside Gavin.
Gavin’s expression changed dramatically too, looking at the advancing officers before suddenly turning to Damon.
"Damon Hawke, don’t tell me you tipped off the police!"
Damon stood straight, uttering one sentence with his thin lips, "I did."
"Why? Damon Hawke, if anything happens to me, you won’t escape either!"
Gavin gritted his teeth.
"Mr. Miles, these goods are the Grant Family’s business. What does that have to do with me?"
Damon raised an eyebrow, his eyes full of mockery.
"You!"
Gavin glared at Damon, and as the officers held him down, he shouted, "Officer, I want to report him! He’s using illegal substances!"
The leader of the police, Captain Liu, looked at Damon, pretending to be serious, "Mr. Hawke, please come with us to assist in the investigation."
"No problem. Assisting the police in their work is every citizen’s duty."
Damon and Captain Liu exchanged a glance, a hint of a smile flashing in both their eyes before they got into the police car.
He had already informed Captain Liu ahead of time, so he wasn’t afraid of being falsely incriminated by Gavin.
What awaited Gavin and his ilk was the severe punishment of the law.
...
Vexia.
Amelia Miles slept through the night until dawn.
When she woke up, she stared at the unfamiliar ceiling, still somewhat dazed.
Once her memory returned, she stretched lazily, preparing to get out of bed.
She instinctively grabbed her phone to check the news, only to find it had switched off.
It must have run out of battery.
Amelia threw off the covers and got out of bed, putting her phone on charge.
Once powered up, she turned her phone back on.
Immediately, numerous missed calls and messages appeared.
Amelia blinked, a bit surprised.
Besides calls from Hunter and Benjamin, there were also calls from her secretary.
Could something have happened to the Grant Family?
Just as Amelia was about to call Hunter, she saw a news article on her phone.
Straightaway, her spirits lifted.
Gavin Miles was arrested last night?
The charge was suspected smuggling?
No wonder her phone was nearly blown up with calls.
Amelia quickly dialed Hunter’s number.
"Dad."
"Elly, did you see the news? Gavin was arrested."
Hunter exclaimed the moment he answered the call.
"I just saw it, Dad. I’m not at the company right now, is everything in chaos there?"
She hadn’t told Hunter what was happening on her end, lest he worried. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
She only mentioned that she found a miraculous doctor and would stay for a few days.
"Don’t worry, I’m at the helm here, you just relax and stay there." Hunter chuckled.
"Thank you, Dad. Sorry for the trouble."
"Trouble? Ever since I acknowledged you again, my spirit has been soaring. It’s perfect to have a reason to check on the company."
Hearing this, Amelia smiled.
After some casual conversation, Amelia hung up.
Looking at the missed calls and messages on her phone, she replied to them one by one.
Once she was free, she blinked.
It seemed the messages she most wanted weren’t there after all.
What was he doing?
He hadn’t bothered to contact her since last night!
Amelia pouted, looking at her phone screen, she thought for a moment before sending a message.
"What are you doing?"
No sooner was the message sent, a quick reply came back.
"Handling a few matters. Did you just wake up?"
Oh, so quick!
And he actually cared if she was awake?
Amelia pouted, then sent, "No, I’m sleepwalking and texting you."
A moment later, a call from Damon came through.
Amelia blinked and answered the call.
"Why didn’t you reply to the message and suddenly call me?"
"Because I wanted to wake the sleepwalker."
Listening to the smiling voice of the man, Amelia rolled her eyes.
"Have you been busy since last night?"
So busy he hadn’t even replied to her message from last night.
"Not really, I finished some work late last night and even managed to get two or three hours of sleep."
Hearing Damon’s words, Amelia’s heart ached again.
"I saw the news. Gavin Miles was arrested. Was it your doing?"
"Yes, and Walter Morgan was also arrested." Damon replied.
"Those two scheming together finally got caught. You shouldn’t push yourself too hard next, promise me you’ll get more rest at night, okay?"
Amelia advised him.
Damon chuckled softly, "So, you’re not angry anymore? I didn’t purposely not reply, I just finished things late and didn’t want to disturb your rest."
Where did he get that she was mad?
She was just complaining a little bit.
Amelia bit her lip and deliberately said, "Is that so? Why do I feel that it’s just your excuse? You’ve become heartless, annoyed at seeing my messages, huh?"
"Elly, if you insist on thinking that way, there’s nothing I can do." Damon laughed.
"Hmph, wait until I get back and put your heart back in."
Amelia pouted and said.
"Alright. I’ll wait for you to return."
The man’s voice was gentle and magnetic, and Amelia couldn’t help but smile. Suddenly remembering something, she quickly asked, "By the way, what about Victoria Don? Was she arrested?"
"Not yet, but it should be soon."
Victoria was in cahoots with Gavin.
With Gavin caught, he would definitely implicate Victoria.
There’s no way Victoria could avoid it.
"Tom, we can’t let Victoria have any accidents yet, we’ll deal with her after I get back."
Amelia quickly said.
"Why?"
Damon raised an eyebrow and asked.
"Because the Gu inside you hasn’t been removed, if she encounters any problems now, what if it involves you?"
Amelia explained.
Oh, she was thinking about his well-being.
Damon’s gaze softened, "Alright, I’ll listen to you."
"Good boy."
Damon: "..."
Why did he feel like someone was treating him like a child?
