Damned Healer-Chapter 141: Guided By Heaven’s Will
Chapter 141: Guided By Heaven’s Will
Niara opened her eyes.
Then, she saw a round planet full of green in front of her. It was moving away — that was the central planet of the galaxy, where Celestia Academy was.
She was floating a few thousand kilometers out, speeding away fast.
She spread her wings, using her full white power to stop moving.
But her eyes stayed focused on that planet.
A thin, subtle shadowy layer appeared, covering it completely.
It was a defensive barrier.
’We can’t go back...’ Niara said mentally, worried.
Darian pulled an Artifact from his inventory. ’No problem, we’ll get back in soon enough.’
After he said that, she let out a relieved sigh. Then, she felt the space around them start to distort, surprised.
’Do you know where that Abyssal Corrupted Wolves’ planet is?’ Darian asked. She pointed in a direction.
Darian aimed the Artifact that way, making the distortion even stronger. Soon, they vanished.
That was a pretty simple Artifact, sold cheap in the old clan. But in space, with low gravity, even a small push would send you flying fast. It was a rough way to travel, but Niara had a body that could handle it just fine.
Their speed wasn’t light speed. The space power distorted space itself, like making a little wormhole that connected to a distant point.
In just a few seconds, they reached a far-off region of the galaxy.
Everything was dark and vast, but from that point on, Darian could feel — through karma — where the planet was.
That was because he’d learned from Meru that everything you interact with or change in the world creates karma with you. Those demonic beasts were definitely connected to him now, so it was easy to track what was linked to his karma.
That planet they had visited during the first rookie test appeared ahead of them.
Soon they entered it, flying straight toward where the Abyssal Corrupted Wolves lived.
Before, those beasts had said there was no restriction on people visiting the place.
But since it was near the edge of the galaxy, Risen attacks were frequent. Few dared to go near. On the planet itself, the treasures were only good for rookies. The beasts, though, were strong — and had permission to kill anyone with no retaliation from the Academy.
Beasts killing a Summoner? Anyone would think that was impossible.
But if someone tried to steal stuff secretly outside of the Academy tests, the beasts could send those corrupted wolves, which could even kill a Risen. If the Spiritual Guardian didn’t have at least two rings, they’d really be at risk of dying.
In short, since it was a dangerous and free place, it was a safe spot to go. The Academy definitely wasn’t watching who came or left, and if anything happened, Darian had allies to keep an eye on things.
Niara fell from the sky like a meteor.
A few meters from the ground, she flapped her wings hard, causing a big blast of wind.
When she stopped, she took a deep breath of the fresh air.
Her scales were pretty damaged, and she was completely exhausted. Traveling that way and then entering a planet like this — no Mannaz would dare to do that.
They landed on one of the mountains around the beast village.
A big commotion started among them.
Niara jumped into the middle of the village. Then she saw... an army of little wolf pups — super cute.
The Leader and the few survivors from before had really worked hard. In less than a year, almost a hundred pups had been born.
"You finally came back," the Leader’s excited voice sounded, as he shifted into human form.
The slug climbed onto Niara’s shoulder. "We need to rest a bit, then talk. Something really dangerous happened."
The man nodded and immediately led them into the ancestral cave. It was the safest, most isolated place in the village — they’d been there before.
Once inside, Darian quickly said, "Send people to the Academy’s teleport inscriptions. You need to watch to see if anyone arrives through them, and also keep an eye on the whole planet."
The Leader nodded, understanding a bit of how serious this was. He bowed and left immediately, sealing the cave.
"Get some sleep. You need to recover," Darian said with a sigh.
Niara moved to a corner and sat down, but didn’t close her eyes. "This isn’t the time to sleep. I think we need to talk."
Darian looked into her amber eyes, seriously. He really needed to have that conversation, but he wanted her rested and ready to talk.
He needed to know about her past. Thinking it over, he was sure that knowing it would be useful. But he wasn’t rude enough to force her to tell it.
"You’re so worried about your younger brother and sister... why are you still being careful with me?" she said, giving a small smile, sensing how he felt. "We haven’t known each other long, but we’ve already been through a lot. You want to know everything I’ve been through, right?"
Darian nodded slightly.
She took a deep breath. Then looked into his eyes and spoke calmly, filling in the parts Darian didn’t know yet.
Niara had been born on a simple planet ruled by the Mannaz with Draconic Bloodline. Her birth was a shock. No one expected what would come: she didn’t look human at all. She was a baby covered in scales, with small wings, sharp claws, and even fangs. At first, her anomaly was described as an extreme case of atavism.
She grew up, and the surprise only grew. At five years old, Niara, on her own, managed to reverse her atavism. She explained that the strange looks bothered her, so she simply wished to be like everyone else. Little by little, instinctively, she learned to control her own Bloodline and mutation. She’d always been an instinctive kind of genius.
Her life from then on was peaceful and happy... until she turned ten. That’s when everything changed.
Every few years, emissaries from the Dragon King would visit the planets with Mannaz of the same Bloodline. They tested all the kids, looking for talents for Summoners or checking for rare mutations.
Niara caught their attention because of her physical peculiarity, but the real shock came with the discovery: she had a natural talent to be a Summoner.
It was the best of both worlds. She was taken to the Dragon King’s planet and castle.
There, a series of tests began. At first, nothing seemed strange or too hard. Until... they discovered the true extent of her mutation.
It wasn’t just an extreme physical atavism. Niara had a special body, capable of purifying and absorbing Bloodlines similar to her own to make herself stronger.
All Mannaz could technically absorb other Bloodlines. But the impurities in their already weakened and human-mixed Bloodline turned that into a deadly poison.
There had been many gruesome attempts in the past, but people would die shortly after. Niara was different — she had no long-term issues. On the contrary: her Bloodline would become extremely pure... so pure that later it could even be easily absorbed by others if needed.
The Dragon King and everyone were thrilled and euphoric about it — they weren’t going to hold anything back to use her to the max.
New tests started.
Pain.
Agony.
Fear.
It was impossible to describe that suffering. Even though she could do it, the impurities caused excruciating, drawn-out pain until she absorbed everything.
She was taken to an underground chamber, where she lived for a century. A century of immense pain — until her Bloodline reached a clear limit. The Bloodline from normal people stopped strengthening her and became irrelevant.
Finally, she was taken out of that place and began her training to become a perfect Summoner.
Niara trained day and night, happy to discover the power that pulsed in her veins. She loved the feeling of fighting and longed to fight for real. Until one day... freёnovelkiss.com
Curious because she’d never seen the outside world, she decided to secretly leave the castle at night. She wanted to see the people and life outside. But fate seemed determined to show her the truth.
After several days, something strange caught her eye: in several nearby cities, there were almost no kids with dragon Bloodline — especially girls or women.
She asked around, but no one wanted to say anything, like it was forbidden to even hint at it. But the pain in some people’s eyes pushed her to find out. Until one day, she heard from a Mannaz merchant — a rare visitor to the planet.
He said that years ago, he saw a carriage carrying lots of girls, like slaves, to the King’s castle.
Niara was confused and searched for answers inside the castle. The truth wasn’t hard to find once she knew where to look.
The King had discovered, after many tests, how to make her absorb Bloodlines faster: just use people who were more compatible and close to her — young girls, about her age.
For her to grow... for a hundred years... how many lives had been sacrificed?
At some point, Niara even started to enjoy it, absorbing faster and faster with a voracious appetite.
She even remembered that the Bloodline supply was replenished several times a day — all for her. The King and everyone were pleased with her appetite. Niara, after learning to ignore the pain, became completely drunk on her growing power.
There were so many lives that it probably wasn’t just that planet that was affected. All the smaller planets, like the one where she was born, must’ve had their young girls taken to die.
From that point on...
Niara waited for a moment when there were no Summoners on the planet. Then she started a merciless massacre. The King and a few people managed to escape, but she killed thousands involved with him and turned the castle into ruins.
After that, she fled.
Using stuff she stole from the castle, she managed to travel between planets and survive for years. She almost got caught and killed a few times, but always found a way out. It was like Heaven’s Will was guiding her... literally. Niara didn’t think too much — she always acted on instinct. It was impressive she’d survived that long.
Until the day the Academy itself held a recruitment on the planet where she was hiding.
Niara signed up, and because of her talent, was accepted to the Summoner test. When the King found out, she was already inside the Academy and he could only wait for the test to end. In the end, she didn’t pass... or almost. Then Darian showed up.
Darian carefully asked what she remembered about that Bloodline pool. She told him everything. And finally, Darian understood something very important... and at the same time, thought about Lucy’s and Lucius’s Summoners, feeling an extreme hatred.
