Damned Healer-Chapter 189: Walk In The Park
Chapter 189: Walk In The Park
Darian looked around at everyone inside that place. The people from both universes immediately grouped up. Basically, the fifty thousand or so present were split into six alliances.
The first was the biggest among the Spiritual Guardians, with almost six thousand members. Leading it was Woldi, from planet number 10, Narkov. There were tons of different races in his group and, surprisingly, half of that army was made up of humans.
It wasn’t just the humans from Earth who joined him. Why did he want so many humans? It was obviously not just because they were versatile. The answer was right there, in the hateful glare from Irana.
Her alliance was the second biggest among the Spiritual Guardians. Still, it had less than two thousand members, made up of two-thirds humans and a few members of other races. freeweɓnovel~cѳm
It was like she had a knife stabbed straight into her heart watching so many humans choose to side with Woldi. And that bastard was loving every second of it.
The third alliance had around a thousand people, all demons from different types and planets. They didn’t join Woldi for some reason. Maybe pride? No... Darian was sure it was pride, judging by their arrogant looks and the thick, dark karma they carried.
The fourth alliance had only 65 Spiritual Guardians — the Milky Way alliance. Irana noticed them standing alone and threw them a look full of gratitude... and a little bit of desperation.
They were from mid-level, relatively weak planets, probably didn’t bring any supreme artifacts. She was sure Darian and the others had no way of surviving this trial. Still, she clenched her fists and swore to herself that, at the first chance, she’d run over with her alliance to help them.
The fifth alliance was made up of just 60 people. Darian glanced at them from a distance. They were over two meters tall, had pointed tails, horns, and wings. Straight-up classic demons.
Thirty of them were covered in a reddish aura, and the other thirty in a bluish one. Darian instantly recognized those auras — they came from the two phoenixes he had spoken with.
They were from planet number 8, Cinderia, and number 9, Frostra. Both demon-controlled. Darian knew a bit about that race thanks to that book.
Demons had tons of different species with a lot of variation. But most of them had this insane ability to absorb power from other lifeforms. Because of that, after capturing the bodies of the two phoenixes, the demons absorbed a part of their power.
It was just a remnant left in the bodies, not their true power. But even that little bit gave their race an insane affinity with phoenix powers. That’s how they managed to get both primordial seeds in the past.
And the sixth, final alliance... was made up entirely of natives. Forty thousand of them, from all kinds of races, from both universes. The two phoenixes had done a pretty good job — the two universes that were once at war had now become one.
As for their karma, Darian could sense it was a subtle shade lighter than average. Besides being united, they lived and acted in pursuit of peace and honesty. No one with bad intentions ever received the phoenix’s blessing.
*BOOM!*
Explosions and chaos broke out less than a minute after the shadows appeared in the skies.
"DEFEND!!" Barod roared, commanding all the Zroot.
The Milky Way alliance was surrounded by six shadows. Four were red, made of Yang, packing insane offensive power.
Those shadows took the shape of phoenixes, just a bit smaller. They weren’t fully physical, more like a manifestation from another universe. They flew around the alliance, firing flaming arrows at them.
The Zroot activated their rings. Barriers of water, ice, earth, and even wood and metal popped up. All blessings focused on pure defense, real tanks.
"Fire!" Udynes commanded.
Twenty-five dark-skinned elves let loose. Some used bows, others threw elemental spears. Their goal was to take down the shadows... but...
The two blue shadows, made from pure Yin, flapped their wings and summoned ice shields that blocked the attacks and protected the fire ones.
Not only were there too many... but the two types worked together perfectly.
Udynes and Barod already had twisted expressions less than a minute in. Winning like this... was impossible.
But they kept fighting. It didn’t take long for the Zroot to start roaring and coughing up blood. Lucy and Lucius nodded at each other, and a soft white light flowed from them, healing from the backlines.
Then, when an attack finally slipped through the barriers, Barod leaped forward, throwing his body in front of an explosive fire arrow.
*BANG!*
It exploded against the ground with a deafening boom. Everyone’s eyes widened — but Barod quickly stood back up, drenched in blood.
"FIGHT!!"
He roared, jumping right back into the frontline without even looking back.
They didn’t back down. The Zroot even threw their own bodies in front of attacks, no matter how much it cost them. At that rate, the first casualties would come in five minutes.
Suddenly...
*Woosh!*
A sharp howl cut through the air.
The elves saw something unbelievable—almost invisible, something sliced through the sky and struck one of the red shadows.
Udynes yelled a command. Every elf attacked at once and took down that shadow.
After taking brutal damage, the shadow shattered and evaporated. A small core fell from the sky.
Barod caught it, eyes wide in shock.
In perfect sync, his and Udynes’s gazes turned to the center of their alliance.
"Hehehe..." They both spotted the baby dragon happily chirping on Darian’s shoulder.
Darian snorted, waved his hand, and a swirl of daggers floated around him. "Keep the shadows distracted. We work together—let me open the fatal breach."
They swallowed hard. "O-Okay!"
They couldn’t believe it. He was a healer, right?
But those daggers floating around him radiated a strange, terrifying aura. Runes glowed on the blades and made the air crackle. What kind of weapon was that?
*Pierce!*
In less than thirty seconds, another dagger struck true, piercing a precise spot in the shadow. Then arrows rained in, destroying another.
Udynes was even more stunned. That was a weak point? It didn’t look like one...
She saw the dagger strike the shield. The Yin shadows tried to block with ice, but the blade went right through like the ice was paper.
Darian smirked inside. His rings were active, and now those Yin and Yang stars, boosted by the phoenix blessings, could override the shadows’ power. Plus, the daggers he’d snagged from that assassin clan in another universe really were the sharpest weapons imaginable.
Hitting a strategic point? Honestly, he was just throwing them at random intervals so it wouldn’t look freakishly precise. But he could wipe them all out at once if he wanted.
"Bro, that one!" Lucy pointed, a mischievous grin on her face.
Darian turned. A Zroot was about to be struck down.
Barod narrowed his eyes. Darian couldn’t pull off miracles...
*Pierce!*
But he did. The third shadow was cut down, and the elves swooped in and finished it off.
Darian snorted. Lucy hadn’t healed him earlier on purpose. Was she and Niara working together to show him up?
He thought, ’Ah, screw it,’
"Yes! Wipe them out!" Niara cheered, flapping her wings.
Darian nodded. Three daggers shot out in unison.
"Kill them," he spat.
Every elf felt their hearts pound like drums as they launched their own attacks.
Then the last three shadows fell. Six total, wiped out as easily as a walk in the park.
"Push forward and grab as many cores as you can. Zroot, just hold the line and make an initial barrier. Elves, fire off quick shots whenever I strike."
Darian didn’t look back.
The sixty of them took a few seconds to snap out of it. Then they pumped their fists and roared: "Attack!"
