Chapter 202: Own Choices

The first thing Darian did was call Leander and head straight to the clan’s treasury. Then, he showed him all the interesting stuff he brought from the Divine Protection Universe.

Besides the massive Risen skeletons he collected, there were hundreds of weapons with cores, and several hundred more weapons and armors with rune seals. fгeewebnovёl.com

All of it was pretty unique and shocking—especially since Leander knew this stuff came from that other universe.

"First of all, weapons with cores don’t exist among Spiritual Guardians. As far as anyone knows, that’s something only seen in that universe, used by the Risen," Leander said seriously. "Of course, there were tons of attempts to purify the corruption and bring them over... but all of them failed."

"Some planets probably found similar weapons during missions, but it’s pointless to have a core in a weapon made of trash-tier material. The power from the rings would just blow the weapon apart. Normal stuff can’t handle our power."

He took a deep breath, calming himself down. "But these... they’re not made from anything insane, but they’re not garbage either. I’d say it’s decent, mid-grade material. So... a Spiritual Guardian with four, maybe five rings, should be able to use them at full power."

"You think you can sell them through the underworld?" Darian asked, looking excited.

"Yeah... and since this doesn’t exist anywhere else, I can set the price as high as I want," Leander replied, looking just as excited. "As for these other ones, with those weird markings... they came from those assassins, right? Stuff like this has popped up before. People call it..."

"Rune seals," Darian finished casually.

Yeah, it made sense. Heaven’s Will used to be worshipped as a god in many planets in the past. It handed down forging knowledge and a bunch of other stuff. So, sometimes, missions lead to places where that knowledge still survives.

Leander nodded. "Exactly. But it’s super rare and ridiculously expensive. The value of this could be even higher, since people know how scary rune seals are. These two types of weapons and armor... if we sell everything, it’s gonna be worth at least five times more than what you got for the first payment on the bow."

Darian sighed. Shame that universe didn’t have higher-grade materials to make this stuff. For Spiritual Guardians, their best material was still just mid-grade. But even so, there’s always huge demand for things like this.

"Perfect. Sell everything through the underworld. Then take half the money and buy weapons made from the best material you can find," Darian said with a slight grin.

When he goes back to that universe, Howlyn—who’s now vice-leader of the academy—knows how to craft the cores for the weapons. It’s not even that complicated to the point of needing an actual blacksmith.

Darian could bring whatever he wanted between universes. Once he started adding cores to high-level weapons and brought them back... there wouldn’t be enough money on Earth to buy that stuff. Leander would probably have to start dealing with other planets just to move it all at max profit.

All because Darian didn’t have anyone to add rune seals to the weapons yet. If he could take Earth’s high-grade weapons, slap cores and rune seals on them... the entire universe would lose its mind trying to get their hands on it.

As for the Risen bones... Leander had no idea how to price those. But he took them anyway to sell. The underworld was connected to every empire on Earth. Wouldn’t be hard to find someone interested.

And this wasn’t even illegal. That’s because the New Arcadia Empire was always the first to get notified about anything that circulated in the underworld. Sure, the seller didn’t need to reveal their identity. The Empire would just know what was being sold. If they didn’t match the offer, then the other empires would be informed after.

It was this silent agreement between all the empires and the underworld that operated in their lands. None of the empires ever bothered wiping the underworld out—after all, having backdoor connections to the other empires was necessary for a lot of things.

Darian left the treasury, left the clan, and headed back home. He was pretty hyped, but Meru’s warning echoed in his mind.

*’I’ve got the potential to make infinite money... but money and resources are just tools. Without real power, it’s all garbage.’*

Meru knew he’d eventually get to this point, so she made sure to slap some sense into him early on. He needed to make the most of the resources, yeah... but never forget that they weren’t his real power.

Back home, Niara, Lucy, and Lucius were probably just chilling. Everyone needed a break. And sure enough, when he got there, the three of them were waiting, watching an old movie together.

"Dan! Look, they got tons of cool stuff!" Niara shouted happily, sitting in Lucy’s arms.

She’d completely stopped calling him "partner" or using his name—now it was just Dan. That started after she and Lucy became best friends. She even spent a lot of time with the twins now. Even Lucius talked to her a lot, teaching her about Earth stuff.

Niara was a whole different person now when she was at home. She looked way happier. For the first time in her life, she didn’t have to live in fear, constantly watching her back. She could just relax with the three of them... like family.

Darian nodded and grabbed a spatial ring from Lucy. It was one of the biggest jackpots from that special mission.

He checked the contents. Three supreme-grade artifacts, a dozen jade slips, demonic weapons, and a bunch of weird, kinda disgusting materials.

Everything inside the ring was high-level, all made for demons who didn’t give a damn about refining people to gain power.

Seeing the disgusted look on Lucy and Lucius’ faces as he checked those things, Darian instantly knew what they were thinking. So he muttered quietly,

"Don’t forget. That golden silhouette who helped us earlier... was also a demon. It’s just a race like any other. There are good and bad demons, just like there are good and bad humans. Don’t judge anyone by their race — everyone’s different. And honestly... if you look at the average, humans aren’t much better than demons."

He glanced at the twins, who thought about it for a few seconds before nodding in understanding. Darian knew this truth because of that book. The world’s huge, and everyone makes their own choices — race doesn’t define anyone.

He went back to focusing on the stuff in front of him. Sadly, he couldn’t use any of it, since it was made specifically for demons — and he couldn’t sell it either. Because Darian had no idea if this was exclusive to Woldi and his planet. If that planet ever found out someone from Earth had this stuff, they might be able to create a direct link to Darian.

According to Irana, those two immortal demons couldn’t attack him directly. So they’d try to move things from the shadows, following the rules... how exactly that worked, Darian still had to figure out.

If Planet 10 got solid proof that their top genius had been looted by someone from Earth, that would be enough reason for the demons to rally together and start moving more openly.

"This demonic crap... I’ll throw it to the Abyssal Corrupted Wolves. They’ll enjoy the snack," Darian muttered, and the twins nodded. "As for these supreme artifacts... these are gonna be our ultimate secret weapons."

On Earth, only rank S clans had one or two of these. Now, a tiny rank C-D clan had three, completely hidden. Using them in missions in other universes, where no outsiders would see... wouldn’t cause problems. These artifacts would be the guarantee that the clan wouldn’t fail — no matter how insane the mission.

"I’ll check out this Demon Collector’s. Since the first time I saw it, I felt something... weird about it," Darian said casually as he walked upstairs to his room.

The three nodded, then went back to watching their movie happily. Niara was curled up on their laps, bouncing excitedly during the fight scenes.

The Demon Collector’s was that last supreme artifact Woldi had used — the one that covered his body in black runes and gave him that insane, brutal explosive power.

When Darian got hit by it back then, he felt a strange, subtle connection to that power. It wasn’t enough to understand back then... but now he had time to really dig into it.

In his room, he pulled out a black rune. It was the core rune from that artifact. From it, you could make a bunch of smaller ones, only slightly weaker than the main one.

Darian spent hours trying to find that feeling again. And finally, by the end of the day...

The doorbell rang.

Instantly, Darian felt something was wrong. He left his room and headed downstairs.

The front door was open. The twins were standing at the entrance, staring ahead seriously.

When he got closer, he saw a tall, beautiful woman with greenish hair and red eyes. The moment he looked at her... his curse flared up like an alarm screaming danger.

She saw Darian in the back, then smiled warmly.

"Darian? Hi. My name’s Mallory," she said calmly. "I’m your dad’s sister. Nice to meet you... I’m your aunt."
