Chapter 4178: Miserable Bet Loss

Going back before the twins appeared in the Great Void Black Hole...

Aby was supposed to take Mamato’s body, and he intended to. However, things changed when Mamato told the twins’ group about the method to make all the Abyssal Beasts accept whatever they say once they went to their home.

"Once you get there, the Abyssal Beasts will immediately identify the use of one of the secret Abyssal Paths. They are prepared for two things. First, the Werdlem Empire found it and was checking where it ended. Or second, that a chance to escape appeared."

"For them to recognize the second option, you must immediately say: Our God, Huver, has finally blessed us. The elders there will recognize the password. With them, you will get all the Abyssal Beasts in our home to follow your orders."

Rean and the others just nodded. That was simple enough. However, Aby was another story. "What did you say?"

Mamato looked at Aby. "What? The password? Our God, Huver, has finally blessed us."

Aby went silent, making everyone curious. "Is there something wrong with the password? A trap, perhaps?"

"It’s not a trap!" Mamato quickly assured. Of course, one couldn’t just believe him after seeing Aby’s reaction.

"That’s not it," Aby explained. "Huver... is my original name..."

Mamato was taken aback. "You must be kidding..."

Was there such a coincidence? As mentioned before, Abyssal Beasts are extremely rare. There are no more than a few hundred in the Werdlem Empire, all with the same sealed souls. That said, it was very hard to believe there were many out there with the name Huver over the years.

"Are you their god or something?" Kentucky asked.

Huver had an idea, a few memories resurging in mind. "Maybe it is just a coincidence." Then, he turned to Mamato. "Where did this idea come from?"

Mamato obviously explained what he knew.

Countless years ago, there was an Abyssal Beast by the name of Lackira. She was ultimately the one who first thought of the Secret Abyssal Paths’ plan. She was also an Abyssal Beast under the Werdlem Empire’s control, of course.

However, she was pretty unruly, and after causing too much trouble, the Werdlem Empire decided to get rid of her before more of the Abyssal Beasts followed her example. Before that happened, though, Lackira left a message, the password. The Abyssal beasts should only act once the password is used. Due to Lackira’s great influence, they carried that password in their minds to this day.

Truth be told, the Abyssal Beasts nowadays don’t think much of that password. She was influential, but that was in the distant past. It has been a long time after all. But then again, there was no reason to change, as it had been drilled into everyone’s minds.

Hearing that story, Aby couldn’t help but think of the past as well. "Lackira was someone from before I was put into that prison."

Back then, the twins found Aby sealed inside a prison made specially for him. Many things happened, but ultimately, they reached a deal where the twins would set his soul free, but Aby would stay in the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm for a thousand years. Of course, because of the Future Realm, it lasted a lot longer.

"We had quite different values. Most Abyssal Beasts back then were selfish, me included. We didn’t care bout each other, seeking personal gains above everything else. Lackira was different, though. She knew of the rarity of our race and always thought that the best was for us to unite."

"As far as I know, she never succeeded. It’s just that I got sealed in the end, so I don’t know what happened after that. Seeing Mamato and his behavior, perhaps she got the Abyssal Beasts on her side in the end."

Roan couldn’t help but ask. "But why is your name in the password?"

Aby bitterly smiled. "A gamble. We might have been different from each other, but it didn’t mean we didn’t get along. Of course, I still considered myself the most important and wouldn’t even flinch if my survival depended on her death. But such a situation never happened, thus our friendship lasted till the end before I was gone."

"As you can guess, I ridiculed her idea of a united race. She, on the other hand, naturally thought me to be wrong. So, we made a bet. If she managed to unite the Abyssal Beasts, I would join her and do whatever I could to help them."

"On the other hand, if she failed, she would give up her beliefs and serve me for a million years. I quite liked the girl, so the idea of having offspring with her wasn’t too bad. The Abyssal Beasts still had to exist, after all, and she was pretty strong in our race."

Rean found it strange. "Okay... and how would you decide if she succeeded or not? Did you give her a time limit? Otherwise, she simply could keep trying for the rest of her life, you know?"

Suddenly, Aby... or Huver... went silent.

Everyone’s expressions turned weird, and Rean spoke what was on their minds. "You... did not set a time limit, did you?"

Aby looked away, the expression on his puppet’s face somewhat relaxed. "Today is such a nice day, isn’t it? Beautiful blue skies..."

The Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm did not have such a thing. Other than a few white spots far away, everything was black... Well, except where they stayed, where there was a need to have light for them to see. It was definitely not blue, though.

"Seems like he lost the bet in a pretty miserable way..." Kentucky whispered on the side.

"Shut up! That was just a simple mistake! Besides, she could have given up, too!" Although Aby said that, he didn’t feel the least bit better. "I should not have mentioned that story."

Roan ignored all of that. "Whatever. You have no reason to fulfill that bet anyway. She is dead."

Aby didn’t look very happy to hear that. The image of Lackira mocking him immediately appeared in his mind, and that only made him angrier. Why was the word God in the password? That’s because Aby and Lackira often made bets... and Aby always lost them. So, she eventually gave him the nickname of God of Terrible Bets. The password was reminding him of their bet and mocking him at the same time. "Fuck!"

Aby absolutely won’t tell them that.

Then, he turned to Mamato. "Kid, I’ll leave the creation of the Abyssal Path up to you. Just follow my lead, and you can create one faster than anyone else."
