Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 216: The Entertainment Industry
Chapter 216: The Entertainment Industry
Kayden refused to come down for dinner and stayed couped up in his room, when his aunt came in and tried to persuade him otherwise, he refuted her attempt and asked her to leave.
Closing the door behind her he went over to the computer he had earlier requested for and typed Cassie’s name into the search engine.
A bunch of articles popped up, some covering her attack by an overwhelming fan, others covering her pregnancy scandal and even some still promoting her fake bag scandal, claiming the designer take legal action against her.
None the less none of these surprised him, she was just as tasteless as he imagined. "This is a waste of my time, every article is trashier than the last-" his words fell apart when his eyes caught a blog dedicated to Cassie’s beef with a former employee of hers.
"What’s this?" He raised a brow, fully sat, going down the rabbit hole of Cassie’s scuffle with an ex worker at her agency.
He watched the live stream footage, and read the surrounding articles. After a good hour of carrying out various researching, a grin cracked on his lips.
In a rush he got up and stormed out of his bedroom, fortunately, he caught his aunt by the hallway, stepping out from what looked like Cassie’s room.
He noticed her hands tucked behind her back and her eyes darted all around, he would’ve asked her what was off, however his mind was preoccupied with another matter.
"Kayden what’s the matter? Do you need something?" Susan asked.
Wasting no time he revealed his intentions, "I want some money to invest."
Susan’s eyes widened, she tucked something into her clothes then walked Kayden away from the hallway, away from Cassie’s room.
On their way to the patio she replied, "You have just woken up from a long coma, your father and I are handling the business quite well."
But he shook his head and explained, "I’d like to try my hand too, just give me some millions and I promise to pay it back with interest. I’d like mother to get better and see how well I’m doing, I also want to prove myself too." His countenance fell, "Or am I asking for too much?"
Susan was always weak to her nephew, being the one with his mother the entirety of the pregnancy, her attachment to Kayden was far too strong.
"This must be very important to you if you have to resort to emotional blackmail." she teased, earning a chuckle out of him.
Inhaling deeply, she sighed a relieved exhale, "Fine, I’ll lend you the money." she said to him, but before he could celebrate her tone went stern, "However, you have to promise me you won’t overexert yourself! If the business is taxing you can always come to me or your father for help. Don’t suffer on your own, okay?" She took his hand and gave it a tight squeeze.
With a reassuring smile on his face he replied, "Of course, aunt, I won’t do anything to make you worried."
They spoke outside for a bit before Susan suggested he go inside and rest. He nodded, content, after all she had just agreed to give him the investment he needed.
On his way out, Susan hollered a question, "Oh, I forgot, what sort of business are you investing in?"
Kayden stopped in his tracks, he looked over his aunt and with a serious face he said, "The entertainment industry."
The next morning, when Brooke arrived at the filming location, she was surprised to see Dylan was back on set. After her makeup and costume was finished, she made her way over to him.
"How’s your sister doing?" She asked watching Sadie and Damien from the sidelines. It was the first actual scene they were both in together since filming started, which came as a great relief to the director and the rest of the staff.
Gruffly, he answered, "She’s fine."
"You can ask the director for a break if you need to, I’ll finish all my scenes first, then you can-"
Dylan sharply interjected, "Didn’t you hear that filming time was getting cut short by two months?" He hissed, "None of us have that luxury." He averted his gaze to Sadie and Damien, whom everyone else was staring at also. "Except those two, they practically get to act however they please, no consequence added."
He sighed and reclined against the nearest wall, "I’m sure whether this film does well or not doesn’t matter to these people, after all they don’t even need the money."
Brooke furled her lips into a tight frown. She reclined next to him, and spoke in a soft tone, "Dylan, don’t you think you’re being too narrow minded? I understand you’re frustrated, but taking it out on others won’t solve anything."
She took a deep breath before going on, "Not everyone is a good person, I’ve worked in this industry long enough to know that, but if you use that bias to judge others you’ll end up no better than them." Just as she finished speaking, a staff member walked over to them and called them over to the director.
When they arrived, they noticed a woman standing next to him, her gaze pointed directly at Brooke. Brooke noticed her scrutinizing look and averted her eyes to the director, wondering why the woman had her eye on her.
"Dylan, Brooke, meet your scene choreographer-" the director’s introduction was cut short when the taller woman leaned in and asked a question.
"You’re using a false leg, aren’t you?" She pinched her chin and asked.
Brooke’s heart skipped a beat, she tried to look around, to make sure she was speaking to someone else, but the scene choreographer stood her ground. "Brooke, that was the name right?" She walked forward, bridging the gap between them.
To further wedge in her point, she lightly kicked one of Brooke’s legs and pointed out, "It’s this one, isn’t it? You’re actually crippled aren’t you?"
