Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 247: A Heated Argument
Chapter 247: A Heated Argument
The casting director hissed. "This isn’t a matter that a kid could understand. You’re just feeling sentimental because she’s your co-star."
Dylan glared at him, "What?"
The casting director sneered, "Let the adults handle this matter, you just sit back there and watch."
Rolling his eyes, Dylan replied with a hint of sarcasm in his tone, "My apologies for speaking out of tune, after all it’s thanks to your wise judgement that we’re in this situation in the first place."
"Damned brat!" The casting director banged his fists on the table, his eyes fuming.
"Calm down you two." Director Flynn sighed, "The decision isn’t one any of us wants to willingly see happen. Although she was brought in through the sponsors, she wasn’t a half bad actress. But, we do need to consider that she has both of our biggest sponsors backing her up. If we anger the people behind her, this film might not happen."
Sadie raised her head, she turned to Dylan who still had a pissed expression on his face. Out of everyone in the room, she didn’t expect Dylan to speak up for Brooke.
The lead script writer finally inserted, "That woman wasn’t a bad actress at all. We saw her audition, I’ve never seen anyone bring a character to life so brilliantly. I say we wait for an official announcement from the station about the situation."
Dylan nodded, "As much as I dislike that woman’s incompetence, we should not act rashly, this situation could end up turning out well in our favor."
Director Flynn looked to Lucas who seemed angry, "What about twenty four hours? Let’s give the situation twenty four hours before we make our decision."
Sadie nodded wiping her tears, "Yes! I think so too."
Dylan narrowed his eyes at Sadie, then scoffed, visibly irritated. Sadie of course noticed this and raised a brow, weren’t they both on the same team?
As it seemed as though the discussion was turning in Brooke’s favor, Damien got up and made a declaration that set the meeting on edge.
"You all seem to have forgotten just who I am. If you people are willing to place the sponsor above my talent and my image, then count me out of this movie." He announced!
Cars honked and people yelled at the two cars parked in the middle of the road causing a huge traffic jam. The wardens whom they thought would intervene ended up standing by the sidelines, trying to serenade both sides into driving away.
But the truck driver would not move, unless Thane tendered Brooke over. A request that Thane sharply denied, he returned to his car, and sat next to his wife, waiting for the truck driver to pull back.
"Mr Grayson, I don’t think he’s willing to leave unless I go with him." Brooke pointed out.
"That’s out of the question, if that bastard won’t tell me who sent him, I’m not letting you go. No, I’m not letting you go anywhere regardless." He obstinately said, giving her hand a firm squeeze.
Brooke pursued her lips, everything had been happening so fast she couldn’t process it. Firstly, Gilbert got poisoned, and then she got arrested, and now she’s been freed by a person who wasn’t Thane.
"But we can’t just stay on the road like this, we need to move." She told him over the violent car honks.
Thane sat unbothered, "If we leave that bastard would just follow us. I don’t want him knowing our home address."
"Wearing him out isn’t doing anything, he’s keen on me going with him. So why don’t we just indulge him and see for ourselves who it was that helped me. If they helped me, they can’t be all bad." She reasoned.
Hearing that someone else had helped his wife made Thane angry, he hissed and looked away, "This just tells us that I’m now in someone’s debt." He concluded.
Brooke frowned, "Why would you be in their debt? I was the one who got helped, I should be the one to see this through to the end." She argued.
"Just like you saw yourself into prison." he scoffed.
She balled her fist, "Yes, I’m foolish and I’m naive, so just let me handle this on my own. I don’t need you to bail me out everytime."
Thane hissed, "You say that, but you wouldn’t last an hour without me protecting you. You’re too trusting for your own good-"
"So having faith in others is a bad thing?!" She raised her voice. "I know, I shouldn’t have gone to see Gilbert, but if I wasn’t there to call an ambulance, he would’ve died. Don’t you care at all that he’s in the hospital?"
Thane chuckled, "I sometimes wonder if you’ve forgotten whose wife you are. I’ve been getting poisoned by him, but you just don’t seem to care, now do you?"
Brooke narrowed her eyes. "Why would you say that? When you know how much it hurts me to think about you getting hurt-"
"Then don’t say stupid things like that. Gilbert got what he deserved." Thane retorted.
"So you’re okay with him dying? Tell me Mr Grayson, are you fine with that? He wronged you, but don’t you feel the least bit worried about him?" Brooke was speaking from a place of sentiment.
Although she was disheartened to hear about Hannah working for Tara, she couldn’t be a hundred percent angry at her. She instead wanted to know why she did what she did, and solve the issue permanently.
And for a while she thought that Thane thought the same way.
Thane turned to Brooke and looked her straight in the eye, then said in a clear cut tone, "I’ve said it before, and I will say it as many times as I have to. If it’s not you, then I don’t care who dies and who doesn’t. Drill that into your head Brooke." he said then turned his head to the window, ending the conversation.
