Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 87: Damien Makes His Decision
Chapter 87: Damien Makes His Decision
After she got ready, Hannah helped her into her prosthetic and escorted her to the car, where Thane was already waiting for her.
The moment she saw him, she slipped out of Hannah’s hold and walked over, showing off her skills. She had a proud grin on her face, until she saw Matthew emerge out of the front seat, and stand next to his brother.
Her stomach churned.
’Mr Grayson was serious about this?’ she inwardly frowned, at the thought of spending the whole day with Matthew.
She blinked twice, when she noticed he had a scowl on his face also, but when she traced his gaze it was pointed at Hannah, who stood behind her.
Brooke was more than convinced that the two had something going on between them.
"You look beautiful." Thane said, reaching for her hand.
Brooke’s chest tightened, she looked down at the casual fit she had on, and raised a brow. "I’m not even dressed-"
Thane smiled, "You always look beautiful in everything you wear." His thumb stroked the back of her palm, sending warm shivers coursing through her skin.
"I wish I could come with you..."
"It’s just a script reading, and besides, it would draw too much attention if one of the sponsors arrived with the female lead." She reminded him, surprising Matthew that she could keep a level head.
He pegged her as the violent kind, considering she attacked him last night, but now, the wild cat was nothing more than a house feline in front of his older brother.
’Is this because she’s afraid of him...’ he thought, trying to figure out the sort of relationship they had.
"When you’re finished with the script reading, I’d like to take you somewhere, if it’s okay with you." Thane said while opening the door for her.
Brooke twisted her lips. ’As in a date?’ she wanted to ask, but knew she wouldn’t.
As though reading her thoughts Thane responded. "We can finish the date from last time."
Brooke grinned from ear to ear. "I’d very much like that."
On that note, he passed her a warm smile, then slowly closed the door. Thane shifted his gaze to Matthew, to reveal a piercing glare.
"Try anything and you will suffer dearly, brother."
Hearing Thane call him that with so much animosity sent a shiver down Matthew’s spine.
He watched as Thane marched briskly into the mansion, with Hannah following closely behind.
He broke a nervous sweat. ’If I knew this trip would be this stressed filled, I wouldn’t have left the main house.’ he thought, while getting into the passenger seat.
The whole ride, the two did not speak to each other, Matthew just kept stealing glances at Brooke.
’She’s not ugly, but she pales to the women I’ve bedded, she’s crippled too, and it looks like she’s not from a rich background either. There’s nothing special about...’ his thoughts were interrupted by the driver.
"Miss Brooke, we’ve arrived at the location."
"Thank you." She said.
Matthew blinked out of his thoughts and sent a look at the production house. He made a face, it wasn’t half as large as he thought it would be, and didn’t have any security outside.
He got out of the car, same as Brooke and approached the building.
"You can stay in the car and wait if you’d like, you don’t have to actually be with me." Brooke spoke up.
"Believe me if I could I would. But I’m trying to keep my head attached to my shoulders." He replied, holding the door open.
Brooke was shocked by his gentleman like behavior and tried passing through, only for Matthew to go in first and lock the door behind him.
He then turned around and pretended to not know he almost smacked her face with the door. "Sorry, did you think I was opening the door for you?" He taunted.
Brooke took a deep breath, holding back the curses in her mind. She reached for the door, only for a hand to open it for her. She looked behind her to thank the person, but was stunned when she laid eyes on Damien.
"Please, go in."
"A-Ah thank you!" She stuttered, and turned to go in, but ended up smacking her forehead against the glass door.
Her cheeks flushed from embarrassment, "Sorry-"
Damien leaned in, brining his face closer to hers, "Be careful little lady." He crooned, Brooke widened her eyes, stunned by seeing Damien up close.
She had watched his movies, and knew he was good looking, but seeing him up close was overkill.
On the other hand, Damien could barely hold back his disgust, ’Ah, what a joke. She’s already drooling over me, I can imagine how filming is going to be. Well, she’s got a pretty head on her shoulders, but that isn’t enough to get me intrigued.’ he thought, as he watched Brooke walk stifly into the building.
He attempted to stand next to her, but a taller man brushed shoulders with him and stood next to Brooke.
Damien hissed and held his shoulder, "Hey, are you blind?!"
Matthew cluelessly looked over his shoulder and in a taunting tone he remarked, "Oh, I didn’t see you there."
Damien gritted his teeth, the cocky grin on the man’s face made his blood boil.
Brooke on the other hand was oblivious to what was happening, but she turned to Damien and apologized on Matthew’s behalf.
"I’m sorry my manager didn’t see you." She said.
Damien tossed a glare at Matthew, "He’s just a manager?" He asked, wondering why someone he was richer than would dare speak to him like that.
"Yes, I hope you didn’t hurt your arm." Her worry laced tone pointed out, unaware that her words were only hurting his pride.
Matthew seconded, "There’s a pharmacy close by, should we check if you hurt yourself? I can’t help being stronger, I should be more considerate of weaker people."
Damien’s lip twitched at the word weaker, he would’ve made a sharp retort, had two of the staff members not come forth to usher Brooke and him to the script reading room.
Matthew strictly followed behind, until they reached the room with a large round table, consisting of what he presumed were the rest of the available cast. He pulled a chair next to Brooke, but was intercepted by a staff member.
"I’m sorry, but you’re not listed as a part of the cast." He said.
Matthew slapped his hand off his shoulder, "And?" He didn’t understand why that should matter.
"He’s my manager." Brooke said, sitting down.
"I’m sorry but he has to stand next to the other managers, as only the cast is allowed to sit for the script reading. I hope that’s not a problem-" the staff member was saying, but Matthew flared up.
He scoffed and helped himself to the seat, "Stand? You must be fucking kidding me. Do I look like someone who will stand? Are you blind?" He kicked his feet on the table, drawing everyone’s attention.
"This woman here is the female lead of this movie, she’s my talent, so why do I have to stand?" He took a good look at the other cast members and let out a laugh. "They’re all no name actors across the room, so why should I give up my seat?"
Brooke turned pale.
She gently tugged on his sleeve under the table, "Matthew you’re going too far-"
But he shrugged off her touch, and continued causing a scene.
Damien who noticed him toss Brooke’s hand away interjected, "Look at the pot calling the kettle black. The only no name person here is you-"
Matthew narrowed his gaze, "No name?" He turned to Damien, "Just who the hell are you?" He asked, wanting to know who dared talk back to him.
"Pretending is every bit as classless as making a fuss over protocol. If you don’t even understand the basics of good conduct, me and you have nothing to speak about." Damien spat out, his tone suggesting he looked down on Matthew.
The rest of the cast all turned their attention to Brooke, and started whispering loudly to her face.
—"I was right, why did they pick this diva for the role?"
—"Maybe she’s just like that Sadie girl, who knows who she had to sleep with to get this role."
—"Her manager is just as obnoxious as she is. How dare he speak down to Damien like that?"
Brooke nervously fiddled with her thumbs under the table, her chest tightened as the voices grew louder, drowning out the sound of her racing heartbeat.
She turned at Matthew, who still had his feet up the table, over the script she would be reading.
Her anxiety shot through the roof when Matthew opened his mouth and said, "Do you know who I am? I am-" in the middle of his words, the door was opened and in came the president and director.
President Lucas’ eyes lit up, "Damien! I’m glad you decided to show up-" frёewebηovel.cѳm
"Lucas," Damien cut him off, his tone sharp and prickly, "What the hell do you take me for? Do you think my time is a joke? There are countless agencies fighting for me in this country. You already plummeted your family’s business, don’t tell me you’re going to do the same thing here?" He asked, standing up.
Damien took one sweep around the room, his gaze settled on Matthew who looked to not give a single care in the world. He gritted his teeth, then made the announcement.
"I’ve finally made my decision. I will not be involved in this movie!"
