Chapter 93: Not An Ordinary Man

*Last night*

Cassie got off the phone with her friends who had been insistent on her joining them for a travel vacation.

She groaned and rubbed her palm over her stomach, "Tch," she hissed, "This bastard has started stretching my skin out." Her features contorted into a frown, at the thought of her pregnancy growing.

Her thoughts were distracted by her phone which had been constantly ringing, she stole a glance at the screen, disinterested over the caller. But her interest was soon peaked, when she realized who had been calling.

The contact, "D" made the hairs on her arm stand. She swiftly sat up and brought the phone to her ear.

"Cassie, it’s been a month already, why haven’t I gotten the payment?" A masculine voice questioned over the phone.

Cassie gritted her teeth, "Greedy bastard, I said that I’d wire the money tomorrow-"

He cut her off. "I don’t think my patience as stretch towards another hour. Who knows? I might mouth off to the press within the next hour, if you don’t take care of me."

"Take care of you?" She cackled, but her voice lacked any humour. She narrowed her eyes, "You’re just a bastard taking advantage of me."

He responded, laughing, "You have it backwards, after all, I’m not the one carrying another man’s child."

Hearing him say her secret, Cassie balled her fist, "You are very lucky, lucky that I don’t know who you are, if not I would’ve-"

He cut her off, "But I know who you are, and I have all the proof to destroy your career. Don’t forget, I know something, that even you don’t know." He took a pause, before he went on.

"I know who you slept with that night at the hotel." He revealed.

Cassie bit her finger, ’This bastard knows too much, I can’t tell if he’s from the company, or if he’s one of the hotel’s employees. Either way, I’m screwed if he reveals the father of this kid.’

"Fine, fine. I understand everything, just wait a bit, you’ll get the five hundred-" her words were cut short by the other person on the line.

"Make it three million, I think I deserve that much for all I’ve done." He inserted.

"You must be joking. I’m not paying you that much!" She spat out, then tried to disconnect the call, but he was persistent.

"Cassie, I’m not asking you to, I’m telling you what is going to happen. And if you truly don’t want to, I won’t force you. After all, it’s your secret not mine. A piece of advice? Don’t let any scandal pop up now, especially not when your father is in prison and can’t help you."

Cassie gulped, she had sold the shares to Thane, but nothing had happened yet with her father, and she worried if he ever would. freewēbnoveℓ.com

"Let’s lower the price to-"

"You can either pay what I ask Cassie, or suffer the consequences..."

Looking back on that conversation, Cassie wanted to bang something against the wall and smash it.

"Cassie did you not hear me? We’re leaving-"

"Wait daddy! What about the other shares? Aren’t you going to ask about them?" She asked, derailing the conversation.

Luther frowned. "What other shares?"

She quickly got up and sauntered over to him, "Daddy, I’m surprised you haven’t heard. The investors of the agency all backed out and sold their shares at an auction. As I speak to you, all thirty percent of their shares have been bought-"

"What?" Luther rested a hand on the table to keep himself from falling over. "You’re saying my agency’s shares are scattered across the city?"

She shook her head, "No, they’ve all been bought by one woman."

"A woman?" Luther was further confused. There were only a handful of people capable of buying that many shares, and more than that, even lesser women.

"Who is she?" Luther demanded.

"No one knows her name, just her initials, B.G." she answered.

"And Ethan? What did he do? Did he really not buy any share off of the auction?" He asked incredulously, refusing to believe that Ethan would pass off an opportunity to make a good profit.

She sobbed slightly, "He completely deserted us. But that’s not our problem, it’s this woman daddy, we need to find her before it’s too late." She appealed to him.

Luther could tell what Cassie was trying to do, but he chose to go along with it simply because he knew how dangerous it was to leave that large an amount of his shares astray.

"Fine." He sighed. "I’ll go meet with the investors and find out the truth. In the meantime, arrange a meeting with the Grayson heir for me. I’d like to speak with him."

Cassie nodded and happily hugged her father, "Yes daddy, I’m sure he’ll want to meet you too."

Serena who didn’t really understand the situation exhaled sharply at the diffused situation. She took was on Cassie’s side, she had just gotten five million, and wasn’t looking to give any of it back.

If her shares could get her that much she didn’t see any need to get them back. Especially since they never made her any cash while she had them.

Luther left to meet with the investors, but on his way he decided to take a little detour and drove to Sadie’s old home to seek her out.

"You bitch! Come on out!" Luther cursed banging his fist against the door.

It was already late at night, and he had been waiting for her outside of her house, but she didn’t respond to him nor did she return home.

He picked up a heavy stone and attempted to break the window, "Sadie fucking come out now or-"

"Who the hell is causing this racket?! It’s ten pm for heaven sakes!" An old man wearing a white T-shirt and stained briefs marched out of his house.

"Don’t you see you’re bothering the neighbourhood? I’ll beat the crap out of you if you don’t can that bitching." He threatened, pointing a broken pipe to Luther.

Luther dropped the stone and took two steps back. "I’m looking for the bitch who lived here. Sadie-"

"Tch." He hissed, "I don’t give a damn! Get off this property before I redesign your fucking face!"

Luther kept backing away until he tripped against a beer bottle, he crashed into the dirt, running his clothes. He held his hands up, in a bid to protect his face from the impact.

But, the attacker stopped the second he laid eyes on his silver watch.

"Hey, is that shit real?"

Luther fearfully followed his gaze to the watch he had on. "Y-Yes."

The attacker grinned, "Oh really? You know what? I think I did see something, but my memory is a bit foggy. Why don’t you take that off and let me have a look at it." He proposed.

Luther frowned, he had purchased that watch for over ten thousand dollars, and it was a collectors item too.

But he feared for his life If he did not give the watch up he might get caught up in something he wasn’t looking to get caught in.

"D-Do you know something?" He asked, taking the watch off and handing it over.

The attacker grinned, "Yeah, I think I remember now. Sadie’s been gone ever since those loan sharks raided her place, no one’s heard anything."

"What? Since then? That’s impossible, she couldn’t have survived on her own, that broke bitch-"

"Broke?" The older man laughed, "I don’t know if she’s broke or not, but she certainly knows some wealthy people."

Luther’s ears stood up. "What do you mean she knows some wealthy people?"

Trying out the watch, the old man went on, "It happened the day the place got raided. The cops came and they came with a rich man, who had on a much better watch than this. No one knows how she knows them but everyone is certain, he wasn’t an ordinary man."
