Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 74 - 0 Mission Accomplished
Chapter 74: Chapter 074 Mission Accomplished
“Is this all you have?”
Henrik frowned, “I thought maybe you had some transcendent parents or something. After all that effort, this is all you tell me?”
Henrik glared with an unmistakable look of dissatisfaction.
He pulled out his pistol and jabbed it forward.
“Open your mouth!”
Hannam’s eyes widened in terror, apparently foreseeing what was to come, and he desperately shrank back.
...
“You can’t do this…”
“Forget it…”
Henrik sighed lightly, “Don’t bother opening your mouth, I don’t want you to dirty my gun.”
Without hesitation, he pulled the trigger.
Bang bang!
The first bullet pierced Hannam’s heart diagonally downwards, and as his body slumped, the second round hit him precisely between the eyes.
The back of his head exploded with a small hole, spewing a mixture of red and white that smeared across the ground.
Thud!
Hannam’s body collapsed to the ground, his eyes wide open, twitching weakly a few times, then lying completely still.
Roger’s right hand, which was holding the dagger, slowly relaxed. This was good, no need for him to act; he had thought Henrik would spare the man.
It was at that moment, as Henrik nonchalantly blew smoke from the gun barrel, his expression suddenly changed, “Damn it!”
“What’s wrong?”
Roger also became tense.
“What’s the rush!”
Henrik slapped his thigh regretfully, “This old guy’s assets have been dwindling over the years. Now it’s obvious he must have transferred them earlier. Why did I forget to ask him about it just now?”
“That’s a lot of money!”
Henrik was so angry that he beat his chest and stamped his feet, acting as if he had lost his own money.
“All right…”
Roger sighed helplessly, admitting that in terms of shamelessness, he was still far behind Henrik.
“Hurry up and help me turn him over, see if this guy has anything valuable on him?”
Roger was appalled.
This kind of principle…
“Has the Hunters Guild’s treatment gotten so bad? Do Demon Hunters need to loot corpses to make a living now?”
That reminded him of his trash-picking days in the game.
Now that he thought about it.
Well… picking trash is not so bad after all.
“What are you staring at? Come over and help!”
Henrik wasn’t just talking big; he dragged Hannam’s body over and searched him up and down.
Just as Roger touched Hannam’s body, the Hunter’s Cabin in his perception emitted a faint glow, and a new message appeared on the notice board.
Haunted Manor (Completed): Through meticulous investigation and unraveling the threads, the future Demon Hunter, you’ve uncovered the truth of the manor and addressed the hidden threat of the Evil Spirit.

Can’t read it yet…
Maybe after the Hunter’s Cabin is leveled up again, he’ll be able to remotely peruse the books inside the cabin.
While Henrik was searching Hannam’s body, Roger noticed a pile of black dust not far from Hannam’s corpse.
Evil Spirit Dust: Residue left upon an Evil Spirit’s death, it has a certain hallucinogenic effect and, when combined with a special ritual, can bewitch the minds of ordinary people, making it an important raw material for producing Evil Spirit Oil.
Roger was studying the Evil Spirit Dust on the ground when a sleazy voice whispered in Leng Ding’s ear, “It seems you also know the effects of this stuff…”
Roger turned around to find Henrik looking at him with the eyes of a fellow practitioner.
“Tsk tsk, I really didn’t see that coming.”
Henrik sighed, “Eliminating this guy, you played a big part; I won’t argue with you this time.”
He pretended to be generous as he patted Roger’s shoulder, “You can have all the things.”
Seeing Roger put away the Evil Spirit Dust, Henrik kindly reminded, “Don’t use too much at a time, and remember, it must be consensual.”
“Young man, only love is the foundation of everything.”
Roger was slightly stunned, but he quickly thought of the hallucinogenic effect of the Evil Spirit Dust.
This guy… he couldn’t have used it on women, could he?
Thinking of Henrik’s consistent behavior, Roger felt the answer to this question was all too clear.
The two of them searched the abandoned farm again, quickly finding a secret door in a wall, behind which were materials used for rituals, various bottles and jars, and unidentifiable plant and animal organs.
In the end, Henrik’s wish came up empty. He only found a wallet with thousands of US Dollars in it, which was nothing compared to Hannam’s true fortune.
After everything was taken care of, Henrik went out to make a phone call; it wouldn’t be long before logistics personnel from the Hunters Guild would arrive to take care of the remaining details.
What Henrik needed to do was merely submit an investigative report afterward.
“It’s finally over.”
Henrik exhaled deeply.
“That Hannam really was cunning; he actually controlled two Evil Spirits, a mother and another formed from three Evil Infants’ Remnant Souls.”
“He nourished the Evil Infant through the mother, minimizing the Evil Infant’s negative attributes as much as possible.”
He flipped through Hannam’s notes.
Roger noticed that the script written in Hannam’s notes was not a regular language, but similar to the Soul Transference Book he had acquired.
“What language is this?”
This content is taken from freeweɓnovel.cѳm.
“A type of ancient language, one could consider it a specific magical language; ordinary people wouldn’t understand it even if they got their hands on it.”
“Can I learn it?”
“Hasn’t someone from your family taught you?”
Henrik asked in return, “That should be the basics of the basics. Oh… I forgot that your lineage was incomplete.”
“It requires systematic study; you’d probably have a hard time learning on your own. However, if you’re really interested, I could try to find a dictionary for you.”
“That would be amazing!”
Roger seemed very happy, knowing that mastering this language would allow him to understand the contents recorded in the Soul Transference Book.
“Some impressive Voodoo Skill there.”
Henrik pointed at one of the pages in the notes, “By reducing the Evil Infant’s Negative Energy and then through a special ritual, one could absorb a major portion of the Evil Infant’s power, with a certain chance to ascend to the Transcendent level!”
“But the cost is horrific, and the methods are truly cruel.”
With that, Henrik didn’t hesitate to ignite the book in his hands, tossing it into an iron basin on the ground.
“It’s safer to burn this kind of thing.”
“Is ascending to Transcendent very difficult?”
Since coming to this world, Roger had heard the term multiple times, “Mr. Henrik, you…”
Roger suddenly closed his mouth.
Henrik, however, just smiled nonchalantly, “I know what you want to ask, but no worries, I can tell you clearly, I am not one.”
“Transcendent, Transcendent…”
He sighed softly.
“I was once so close to that state.”
“So close it was within reach.”
