Divine Artifact in a Scientific World-Chapter 128: Couch Time (2)
Chapter 128: Couch Time (2)
"Have a seat, Miranda," Jack said, pointing at the other end of the couch.
It was paradoxical; she wanted to touch him, yet also enjoyed it when he made her wait, knowing the longer she waited, the better it would feel when he finally took her.
She sat and turned sideways to face him.
"So, how are you and Madison getting along?" he asked.
Madison’s interests were so different from her own than it had taken her some time to find common ground with her. At first, she thought Madison had no interest in fashion whatsoever, but eventually figured out that how they could connect.
They both were in one way or another, obsessed about Jack. Madison didn’t care about fashion, but she did want to look good for Jack. Something they both wanted. They also both wanted to please Jack, in and out of bed.
So they spent most of their time trying to figure out what Jack liked and disliked.
"Great! We’re both looking forward to going shopping once she gets out of jail. She wants to look good for you. She’s kind of obsessed with you."
"Yes, she is obsessed with me. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the soul bond, I think she would have tried to lock me in a basement so she could have me all to herself."
"You might be right. She hides it well, but I think she’s super obsessed with you."
"She is. Did you know she’s focused on our soul bond connection pretty much all the time?"
He sounded more amazed than worried, which was a good thing because she did the same thing.
"Um, she’s not the only one," she said.
"Really? How do you concentrate in class or on your homework with your attention divided like that?"
"It was a little distracting at first, but after a few days, it became second nature. Like having the T.V. playing in the background."
"That’s just it. I don’t understand how anyone can study while the T.V. is playing."
"Oh, it can’t be just anything. It has to be something like boring news or a show I’ve seen a million times."
"I think it’s the motion. I can study with music on, but if there’s something on the T.V. the constant motion pulls at my eyes."
"My dad’s the same way. My mom uses it to her advantage. If he leaves the door to his study open, she’ll walk by wearing increasingly skimpy outfits until he can’t take it anymore."
He squinted at her, and she could tell he wasn’t certain if he disliked the idea, or liked it maybe a little too much. Probably a bit of both. She’d have to be careful to only use that tactic sparingly.
"So, how are you and Robin doing?" she changed the subject.
"Good. She still skips like a little girl sometimes, and I really want to ask her to wear bunny ears and tail."
Now she wanted to see that, too. She also wondered what Madison would look like with cat ears and plug tail.
"When are you going to watch her train?"
"Not for a few more weeks. I’m making great progress during training days but want to train some more before I go. I’m sure someone will challenge me and I want to be able to at least not make a complete fool of myself."
"Wait, you think someone will try to fight you?"
"Maybe. I suspect that her grandpa might offer to let me spar with one of the newer trainees. A white or yellow belt. Just to see what I’m made of. I don’t mind losing, too much. But I don’t want to look like a wet noodle either."
"Ah, male pride," she teased.
"Damn straight." He said proudly.
She snorted, and he chuckled.
"So," he asked, "any of your ex-boyfriends causing problems?"
"No. Well, Jared, the little prick," she wiggled her pinky finger, "is having trouble accepting that I dumped him."
"Will he be a problem?" he asked.
His tone was light, but the emotions she felt through their connection sent shivers of pleasure up and down her spine. Such delicious possessiveness.
"No. His family may be wealthy, but they’re also practical. They would never let his lust interfere in their business. So the most he can do is bark and growl like a little chihuahua."
She thought the comparison was funny because Jared was hung like a chihuahua. She could barely get all of Jack down her throat, but Jared was so small she could get all of him and his balls in her mouth.
The first time she’d done that to him, he’d popped so fast she thought she discovered some secret male insta-cum button. If it wasn’t for his family’s wealth, she never would have given the little creep the time of day.
She was so glad Jack had snatched her up. His wealth alone dwarfed the combined wealth of Jared’s family and her parents.
The cover story they’d given her mom, about a large settlement and investing it, had made her happy. If her mom learned the truth about his actual wealth, she’d be ecstatic. In fact, she’d probably tell Miranda, "Work hard, little girl, or I’ll steal him from you."
And the power he had, the things he could do if he really set his mind to it? That made his wealth look like pocket change.
It frustrated her to no end that he was still sticking to his silly notion that he needed to ask permission before making sapient templates of good people. There were no good people! Just people whose selfishness hadn’t yet clashed with his goals.
He was annoyingly idealistic for someone who had suffered so much loss. She wanted to just shake him and scream, "wake up!" but she knew that wouldn’t work. All she could do was try to guide him by asking the right questions.
With his powers, she thought he could rule the world if he set his mind to it. What he’d done to Isabella and that agent Jackson was proof of that. But he was still stuck on the idea that using people, even if they remained ignorant and unharmed, was somehow wrong.

She wasn’t worried. He was smart and open-minded, and eventually he’d come around. The world was too uncaring to let him maintain his idealism for too long.
"Well, let me know if he causes you any problems," said Jack. Then he added with an evil grin, "We can always annoy him to death with ’black magic’."
"Death by a thousand paper cuts," she said with a smile. "I’ll keep that in mind."
Just then she noticed Rina peeking into the couch room. That girl really was like a cute little mouse sometimes.
She got up, gave Jack a kiss and whispered in his ear, "Rina’s waiting for you." Then walked out of the room, swaying her hips as she did. She could feel his lustful gaze through their connection.
