Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Fighting Desperately

"Young Master Joyce, it sounds like someone’s bad-mouthing you. What do you think we should do about it?" π—³πš›πšŽπšŽπ˜„π•–π•“π•Ÿπ• πšŸπšŽπ•.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"What else can we do? If they dare to bad-mouth our Young Master Joyce, there’s only one way out for themβ€”a dead end!"

"That’s right. But our Young Master Joyce is feeling merciful today. As long as Master Jennings is willing to leave the beauty behind, hmm, we’ll let you go."

...

Listening to the thugs’ taunts, Cassian Jennings’s eyes grew cold. ’So, Leo Joyce sent them...’

When Cassian Jennings didn’t say a word, Gia Miller was terrified he would just leave her there. She lifted her pale face and said in a cold voice, "Do you have any idea who I am?"

"Who you are doesn’t matter. What matters is that our Young Master Joyce has taken an interest in you, so you have to stay."

"I’m Jared Miller’s sister. If you dare lay a finger on me, my brother won’t let you get away with it." She had to bring up her brother; she was afraid it was the only way they would be able to leave.

"HA HA! Your brother? Jared Miller? Who the hell is he? He isn’t even worthy of carrying Young Master Joyce’s shoes; Young Master Joyce wouldn’t have him." The one who spoke was a man who had once attended a Jennings Family banquet with his father. In the past, he certainly wouldn’t have dared to offend the Jennings or Miller families, but now his backer was the Joyce Family. That changed everything.

In all of Tridell, everyone knew to steer clear of the Little Tyrant...

The Jennings Family seemed glamorous, but without the backing of the Avery and Grayson Families, it would have been absolutely impossible for them to break into the true upper echelons of society.

"You’ve gone too far..." Gia Miller’s face went white with rage. No one had ever dared to speak about her brother like that. ’Do these people really not know who he is, or are they just pretending?’

Leo Joyce, however, looked completely at ease. With his arms crossed over his chest, he watched the drama unfold before him.

’Master Jennings? So this is all he amounts to. Amelia Avery has terrible taste, falling for such a gutless coward.’

Cassian Jennings knew these people weren’t going to let them leave easily. He had no choice but to set Gia Miller down on the ground, murmuring, "Okay, don’t be angry. You go on ahead. I’ll handle this."

As he spoke, he rolled his wrists and stretched his neck, shooting a mocking glance at the thugs.

"Cassian, wait here! I’m going to call my brother right now," Gia Miller said worriedly, clutching the blanket tightly around herself.

"Yeah, you go on ahead," Cassian Jennings said with another smile.

Her face pale, Gia Miller nodded, then turned and headed for the stairwell.

"If you have a death wish, come at me all at once," Cassian Jennings said, his lip curling into a cold sneer.

Seeing how cocky Cassian Jennings was, even with his back against the wall, the men clenched their fists and started to rush forward.

Seeing this, Leo Joyce’s expression darkened. "Stop," he ordered, his voice chilling.

"Young Master Joyce..." At the sound of his voice, they all froze.

"Where are your manners? This is Tridell’s very own Master Jennings. If you hurt him, old man Jennings will come after us with everything he’s got," Leo Joyce said, feigning concern.

"Young Master Joyce is right. We wouldn’t dare provoke Master Jennings."

Cassian would have to be an idiot not to understand the implication.

He simply clenched his fists, his icy gaze fixed on them.

’In the past, he’d never cared what people said about himβ€”that he was just some rich kid coasting through life, relying on his father and his friends.’

’But now, he suddenly found this version of himself to be utterly disgraceful, so much so that he couldn’t hold his head high.’

"Master Jennings, my men here are a bit uncivilized, please don’t mind them. That pretty lady has probably gotten far by now, hasn’t she? It is the dead of night, after all. It’d be a shame if she died on the road, or ran into some creep... wouldn’t it?"
