Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Memories

Tristan Grayson clenched his fists and stood up. "Good. Very good! Excellent!"

’He, Tristan Grayson, had never spoken to a woman with so much patience before. If she wanted to end their agreement, then she couldn’t blame him...’

Listening to Tristan Grayson’s mocking tone, her heart ached viciously. ’But I can’t listen to him anymore. I can’t let him control me any longer.’

Tristan Grayson shot her a cold glance, pulled his phone out of his pocket, and dialed a number. "Henry Archer, you have ten minutes. Get to Regalia Fields with the contract, now."

"Ten minutes? Boss, I’m already in bed..."

Before he could finish, Tristan Grayson hung up.

Tristan Grayson sat on the sofa, watching the woman sitting on the floor, her head buried as she sobbed. A wave of irritation washed over him for no reason.

’So now she’s decided to start crying? Who’s the real victim here?’

He took out his phone and called Henry Archer again. "Henry Archer, three minutes have passed. You have seven minutes left!"

"Bos..." Before Henry Archer could even get the word "boss" out, Tristan Grayson hung up on him again. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

On the other end, Henry Archer was miserable.

Forget seven minutes; even with seventy, he might not make it in time.

The woman under Henry Archer looked at his miserable expression and chuckled softly. "Tristan is really too much..."

"Tell me about it. It’s already two in the morning."

Mika Summers cried for a long while before finally stopping.

She looked at the man on the sofa, then at the clock on the wall. With a pained expression, she pushed herself up from the floor and walked over to Tristan Grayson. "Tristan Grayson, I don’t need anything. I’ll move out tomorrow."

"Heh..." Tristan Grayson gave a wicked smirk. "What? Regretting it already?"

"I don’t regret it. The house, the money—I don’t want any of it."

"Then what do you want?"

"I want to leave you. I want my freedom."

"Freedom? I told you before, we only had to keep up the act for ten days, and then we’d be completely free of each other. But you were the one who broke the contract first."

"Tristan Grayson, why won’t you believe me? I didn’t break the contract, I didn’t betray you, and I certainly didn’t snitch to your parents. The press conference will go on as planned tomorrow. I’ll play my part. After that, I will be out of your life for good." With that, Mika Summers turned and ran toward the bedroom.

Hearing her words, Tristan Grayson’s expression turned dangerously dark.

He picked up his phone. "Henry Archer, you don’t need to come anymore! The press conference is at seven o’clock tomorrow morning. I have something important to announce."

"Yes, Boss!" At that moment, Henry Archer was already driving on the highway. Hearing his boss’s words, he felt utterly miserable.

’Is the boss just messing with me in the middle of the night?’

Mika Summers didn’t sleep at all that night. She packed up all her clothes and other belongings, just waiting for the press conference to end so she could leave immediately.

"KNOCK KNOCK..." Outside, Tristan Grayson hadn’t slept either. He couldn’t sleep until he found Maggie Monroe. As soon as he saw it was light out, he went to wake the woman inside.

"Coming." Hearing the knock, Mika Summers took a deep breath and put on a relaxed expression before going to open the door.

Today, Mika Summers was wearing a pale pink, floor-length gown. It was the one Tristan had bought for her last year for his grandmother’s birthday.

The moment she opened the door, Tristan Grayson saw her and froze.

An image flashed through his mind: the two of them celebrating his grandmother’s birthday together.
