Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend-Chapter 126: True Power of Dark Knight
Cynthia was walking near the plaza on the way to her house. The situation at the palace was now at high tension. All the guards were moving to their stations.
She had been told by Kelar to stand by at her station. But it had been like this several times already. Including this attack at Daisy Town, it was the fourth time a monster attack involved the Kaoslith. And each time, Kelar prevented her from getting involved in the battle. It seemed like he wanted to distance her from the Kaoslith, even though he knew what actually happened ten years ago.
But each time the attack happened, her heart grew more restless. Therefore, this time, she was already determined to go to the town. No one could stop her.
After minutes of walking, passing many guards along the way, she finally arrived at her home. She removed her armor and wore the armor she had purchased herself. The black armor she always wore during duty was given by the palace. The one she purchased was also black in color, but it was less full. It had lighter weight and a sleek design. It only covered her important parts, allowing more agility and control.
She then looked at her pendant that show the faces of her parents and her younger self.
’This time, I will find the truth,’ she vowed. She then kissed the pendant and tucked it inside her armor. She proceeded to get out of the house.
That was when she met a robed figure in front of her house. She stopped and looked at the figure with sharp eyes.
"Did Sir Kelar tell you to stop me?"
"Sir Kelar told me to look after you. To make sure you are not in danger," the robed figure answered. His voice was muffled. "He also wants you to meet him for the next session."
"I have something I need to do now. Tell Sir Kelar that tonight’s session needs to be postponed." Cynthia then walked past the robed figure.
But just as she was about to walk out from her house’s vicinity, the robed figure jumped in front of her.
"I am afraid that I cannot let you go."
Cynthia then looked at the robed figure with sharp eyes. It seemed he would not let her go. She then had no choice.
"Eclipsion."
She muttered the name of her sword. The trademark sword for all Dark Knights. The sword is the result of dark aura converging to form a very black sword that seemed to absorb light from its surroundings.
"Umbra."
She muttered again, this time she summoned the black shield that had a triangular shape with sharp edges. It emitted a dark aura from it, and it had an eye at the center. Similar to Eclipsion, this shield was also a result of darkness aura manifestation. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"This is my warning. Get away or you will regret it," Cynthia warned. She was ready in her stance.
The robed figure then brought out his dagger. It seemed a fight was inevitable. Cynthia, without waiting any longer, immediately dashed forward, slashing her sword.
The robed figure then jumped upward, making her slash hit nothing but air. But it was enough for her.
As the robed figure landed on the other side, he was suddenly shocked. Cynthia was supposed to be on the opposite side, trying to slash him. But now, Cynthia was behind him, right at her original position. It seemed like she had never moved in the first place.
The robed figure immediately turned toward Cynthia, but it was too late. Cynthia slashed at him, inflicting dark aura on his wound, making darkness leak from it. He screamed and struggled on the floor. He held his wound tightly, before his eyes fell on the shield Cynthia held.
Its eye was open.
’Did I fall into an illusion spell?’ he thought. But he was in too much pain to think about it.
Cynthia then released her equipment and left the man on the floor. If no one attended to him in the next several hours, he would be engulfed in darkness and die.
That was how menacing her skill was.
That was why Dark Knights were truly feared on the battlefield, because of their wide range of skills and their mastery over darkness. They were essentially enemies to the holy side.
Cynthia then walked toward the carriage station near the center of the city. Usually, at this time around 3 a.m. there would only be a small number of carriages available. Only those in need of extra gold would take passengers, as the fee for overnight travel was triple the daylight rate due to the increased danger. But now, she saw many of them, nearly ten in number.
When she tried to request one of the carriages, the owner said, "I’m really sorry, miss. This one’s already been booked."
"Who booked it?" she asked. The one who had done so must have quite a wealthy background.
"It’s the Dawnblood Guild," he replied.
’So they’re already on the move,’ she thought.
"How much did they pay? I’ll pay you double. Take me to Daisy Town," she said, offering him a pouch of gold.
"Ahh, it seems you’re heading to the same place as them. How about you wait for them and just go together?" he said with a smile.
He smiled warmly, as if trying to make a generous offer.
"No. I want you to carry only me. I will triple the payment," she said.
The owner looked at her eyes. Her eyes were really determined and gleamed in the light of the road flame. He swallowed his saliva. He could imagine, if he refused her offer, this would be his last night in this world.
"Alright... please come in," he said, and he accepted the offer.
Cynthia then hopped on the carriage and then she put the hood up to her head.
The carriage owner then pulled the rein, commanding the two horses to move.
It then made its way into the west side of the city, before disappearing into the darkness.
