Luna and Nika left the apartment soon after Uriel stormed off leaving the sobbing mess that was Medusa to think things through. More than thinking, though, she did a lot of crying and binge eating.

Her relationship with Uriel had been rocky from the start, to say the least. It was always she the one who made the first move and she did her best to make him feel wanted, but he never showed any interest.

Once she found about Water warlock’s influence on him, his actions started making sense for her and she decided to give him enough space but the gap between them became bigger each day and she was forced to see how other women like Charlie, Nika and even Cassandra flirted with Uriel right in front of her.

The ony thing that allowed her to keep calm was that he showed the same amount of interest in them than he did to her.

She had zero experience in the dating scene and wasn’t that confident with her looks either. She always drew a lot of attention, but she knew she couldn’t be compared with a raven-haired beauty like Nika. Medusa was also painfully aware that her looks and demeanor were complete opposites.

People always referred to her as though she was a thick skinned tomboyish slut with a luscious body, but she was actually a shy, sensitive and caring girl on the inside.

Day after day she showered Uriel with affection, not so much with words because every time she attempted to speak her heart to him, the pressure became too much to bear and she stuttered or fell silent. Her love language, though, was very much appreciated by Uriel. She would always made sure to check that he carried the essentials on his backpack, packed him lunch and assisted him however possible.

Even little things like making sure he was comfortable or that he didn’t forget the things he needed to do during the day.

But he never made a move on her.

Just when she was about to completely lose hope, Water warlock finally left him and he was able to face his emotions like a regular human being. At first he was a mess, but little by little he warmed up to her until he asked her to be his girlfriend.

They dated for a short while and since he quit hunting they went to live to the east city gate district in the slums because it was cheaper and safer for them. Everything they did was exactly everything Medusa ever wanted, but something was missing and everything felt empty.

After letting out all of her emotions for over a day, Medusa was sitting on the couch browsing through the pictures on her smartphone. What should have been pictures of a happy couple, were instead of her brightly smiling with someone with a frown on his face that screamed ’I don’t want to be here’. By those pictures alone, no one would have guessed they were a couple. Enjoy exclusive content from novelbuddy

A soft knock on the door took Medusa by surprise and although she had no interest in having any guests, there was a minute speck of hope in her heart that it would be Uriel.

"Uhm... Hi," Uriel awkwardly said as he rubbed the back of his head. "can I come in?"

"You don’t have to ask, this is also your apartment." Medusa said, the crimson of her eyes disguising the fact that she had been crying for over a day.

"There’s something I want to say to you," Uriel waited for Medusa to nod in reply and then continued. "I know I’ve been a shitty boyfriend..."

"No, that’s not true..." Medusa cut him short, but he shook his head.

"In any case, I just went through a life or death situation and it made me realize something. I want you to know that even back then when I didn’t have any control over my emotions, I still thought only of you. I clinged to my rational side that still remembered how I felt the first time I saw you, how I felt when we had that picnic.

I just want you to know that," Uriel made a pause to grab Medusa’s hands. "I love you Medusa."

Medusa’s mind was a chaotic mess and she could barely endure the rush she felt. It was as though Uriel knew exactly what to say to melt her heart and whether she was still upset or not for Uriel’s crime, she let her emotions overflow her and gave in fully to the kiss that ensued.

It wasn’t the shy peck on the lips they shared whenever they greeted each other, it was a deep passionate kiss that sent shivers down her spine. Her breath became jagged and her cheeks blushed, but she wasn’t fighting against it. Without ever letting go of her hand, Uriel led her to the bedroom and took off his shirt.

"We can’t, we can’t do this," Medusa struggled to resist when Uriel kissed her neck. "remember what you said, you can’t do this or you won’t be able to enter Xibalbá again."

"Who cares about Chichén Itzá? Who cares about that old dude or his lost civilization? He abandoned me. You’re the only one who’s been with me through thin and thick, you’re the only person I care about now."

Medusa gulped down her saliva, then she too took off her shirt keeping her gaze down the whole time in awkward shyness. Her eyes were closed and she gave in completely to Uriel’s soft touch. His hand went back and forth from all the right places and Medusa fell on the bed, covering her face with both hands.

But then something happened and Uriel let out a pained yelp.

"What’s wrong?" Medusa asked after noticing there was a burn in Uriel’s fingertips, a burn that wasn’t there before.

"Oh, no, this is nothing... now that I don’t have Water warlock’s blessing..." Uriel tried to say but was interrupted by a powerful punch to the face that sent him flying through the concrete wall.
