Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 431: The wild girl of Lafayette Part 1
The strange noise managed to startle Uriel and he quicky took out his cellphone. Only after confirming it was working properly, meaning there weren’t any cryptids nearby, did he close his eyes to focus on his mystical sense in hopes of identifying the creature that made that noise.
His breathing became soft, his heartbeat slowed down and he entered on the deep meditative state that allowed him to expand his consciousness.
"That’s weird, I could have sworn there was something up there." He muttered when he couldn’t sense any presence.
He walked upstairs still holding the maps in his hands and noticed how the second floor was in much better condition than the first. The bookshelves were in perfect order and all the furniture was in perfect condition. It looked just like any regular library, if not for the many corpses scattered all over the place.
"It seems the whole city flooded and they tried to seek refuge in here, but something killed them before they could even make a campfire." Speaking to himself gave him a strange sense of comfort whenever he was alone. It somehow made him feel less lonely and helped him cope with it, that was one of the reasons why he started a vlog in the first place.
Without any friends, he could only resort to speak to an imaginary audience about the topics of his passion, but he never thought he would be able to share his findings with people who took an interest in them.
Granted, none of his friends truly understood archaeology, but they did see the value of it since it was so closely related to dungeons.
Uriel took the time to study the human remains and see if he could figure out the cause of death thinking that he may face the same fate those poor souls did, but they were nothing but bones.
"Well, at least their death wasn’t violent." He said in a whisper after confirming all the bones were intact. Blunt attacks, stabs, gunshots and even strangulation always left fractures that allowed an expert eye to identify the cause of death. Only poison, drawning, sickness and few other causes would remain hidden for an archaeologist.

It was precisely while he was studying the remains that he found a strange object in the shirt pocket of one of the corpses. The shirt was in tatters, but the object was pristine. Not just that, as soon as Uriel put his hand on the pocket he realized he was able to store it inside his museum.
"Yes! A new artifact!" He exclaimed with a grin and hurried inside his museum to check it.
Nerd glasses: This is the kind of glasses that kept girls at a distance. They were considered unstylish and ugly to everyone and would only be used by extremely nearsighted people. They were discovered by the infamous archaeologist Uriel Sage.
[Active] Wearing this glasses will allow the wearer to see the the flux convergence in objects.
"Flux convergence? What is that? They don’t even have a passive ability so storing them in the museum will only be a waste of space." Uriel complained as he pondered throwing those glasses in the garbage. It felt like a waste, but he had no clue as to what was the flux convergence in objects nor did he see any point in being able to see it.
Especially after he tried the glasses on and realized he wasn’t able to see anything at all. His vision was so blurry he couldn’t even read with them.
"Maybe back when I was nearsighted these glasses could have been a life changer, but now... hmmm... didn’t it say it keeps girls at a distance?" Uriel asked himself, finally understanding the true value behind that object. "If I wear these I’ll be able to shake them off of me whenever I need some peace and I could also avoid awkward situations like what happened with Cassandra."
The only thing left for him was to see his own reflection and confirm how bad did he look in those glasses. Unfortunately, there were no mirrors and the water downstairs was too dark to see properly. Because of that, he was left with no choice but to look his reflection on a window.
He leaned closer to the window and although his vision was blurry, he could still make the outline of his face.
"Why am I so pale? Is my hair really that dirty?" He said as he reached for his hair, but he was still wearing Jon’s fedora hat, which meant the ’reflection’ he was seeing wasn’t his. "Ahhh!" He screamed as he summoned his revover and took off the glasses, but when he was finally able to see again there was nothing there and his mystical sense didn’t alert him of anyting.
"Am I losing my mind or something?" He asked himself as he shook his head as if that could help him in any way, but then, another noise called for his attention, this time it was downstairs.
Hurriedly, Uriel activated his dash skill and darted out of the building to find whatever creature was stalking him, but he only managed to draw the attention of a few beast rank cryptids. With his magnum still at hand, he opened fire and easily dispatched them, but the noise made by the firearm was enough to draw even more cryptids.
"Dammit!" He cursed as he reloaded and proceeded to fight in close combat against a monster rank creature that looked like a crawfish, but its exoskeleton was too similar to that of an insect and he pulled his punches to avoid bursting it into a disgusting goo. But that proved to be helpful.
With the Dash skill still active, he was able to catch a small figure staring at him in the distance. It was a woman of about Uriel’s own age, but he couldn’t focus on her and dodging the cryptid he was fighting at the same time. The ony thing he could do was to not lose her from sight when she climbed the building in front and disappeared into a broken window.
