The Hathaway family was among the most ancient witch families around the world and were the actual founders of the society. Despite this fact, Mike couldn't care less about the quarrels with the hybrids or their future plans. That said, there was one thing he couldn't tolerate and that was his family's secret being out in the open.

His family didn't die to cryptids or to natural causes, they were killed by something ancient whose name had been lost to time before the first human learnt how to speak. Something that needed to be contained at all costs.

Due to Uriel's age, Mike knew he couldn't possibly be the one responsible for what happened to his family, but he couldn't afford to let someone disclose the ancient language to the public and putting everyone and everything at risk.

Unfortunately to Mike, he knew himself to be too weak to fight against the man who defeated him over and over without so much as breaking a sweat, but that didn't make his determination any less powerful and he decided to take action.

Thanks to his company's information network, Mike knew exactly where to find the allies he needed to fight against Uriel.

"I can't believe I'm doing this." Mike said to himself in an attempt to suffocate the voices inside his mind that insisted Uriel wasn't a bad person and that there might be a way to convince him to drop his investigation.

"Are you the guy?" Mark said after scanning his surroundings trying to spot a certain person whom he knew was able to conceal his energy signature.

"Yes, take a seat and tell me everything you know about him." Hathaway commanded, his voice of authority no less powerful than that of a veteran soldier in the army.

"Why am I being arrested? I've been minding my own business like anybody else." Mark defended himself while taking a quick glance at the armored hunters next to him.

"You're not being arrested, but recruited. I apologize if my people mistreated you, but I heard you were pretty close to Uriel and we couldn't risk you escaping.."

"No, not again! Let me go, please! I won't say anything." Mark cried.

"I know you're in bad terms with him, but you were friends at some point, correct? Look, I just need you to be honest and nothing bad will happen to you, alright?"

"Just... please, if this is because of something I did or said to him, I'm sorry, okay?" Mark said in a pitiful voice. After all, people breaking into his shabby hideout in the slums in the middle of the night and pinning him down on the ground like he was a regular human wasn't a daily occurrence.

"I'm definitely not his friend, but I'm unsure if I want to become his enemy." Hathaway replied and the answer seemingly satisfied Mark as he began speaking about everything and anything he could think about Uriel, but not before thoroughly warning him against making a move against Uriel.

Needless to say, Hathaway was taken aback by the mentions of bullying and Uriel's past as a weak pushover, but what surprised him even more was the fact that Uriel was actually an orphan.

"I know he's dangerous, we wouldn't be here otherwise, but I'm afraid he needs to die.." Hathaway insisted.

"He needs to die? You're saying it like killing him is easy. Here's some facts for you. He survived his first year incursion, went on several incursions, defeated me in single combat while I was two ranks above him. I've done my best against him and I've seen far more powerful people trying to kill him. Fuck, I heard he killed a holy rank hunter!

He's like a cockroach. I'm telling you, he just won't die. And the worst part is, I don't even know what the fuck is his trait despite me using a city wide spy network on him."

"Are you dumb? That's why I'm recruiting more people. Forget about the past and let more competent people handle things. Now, are you absolutely certain he didn't somehow inherit the legacy of his family"

"All I know is he had an abusive uncle and ran away from home at an early age." Mark replied.

"So you're telling me you met him when he was poor, weak, an orphan and down on his luck and you decided it was a good idea to bully him? What kind of psycho are you?" Hathaway grunted and Mark limited himself to keep his gaze in the ground.

"I can also tell you about his friends." Mark said after a long pause.

"Friends?"Hathaway was taken aback by the possibility of Uriel even knowing the meaning of the word, let alone have friends outside the study group. Before Mark was able to reply a tall woman with a milky white skin, rose red lips and a lovely fashion sense showed up.

"This detention is illegal and you will release my husband immediately." Tina Celes said.

"And why should I listen to a thing you said?" Hathaway said with a bitter expression on his face.

"Because I'm this city's governor and the higher ups know I came here to confront you. If you fail to address my request, you'll face the consequences." Tina said unfazed by the presence of the dozen enemy armored hunters in standby.

"Wife!" Mark cried to Tina.

"Shut up, you worthless piece of trash." She glared an icy cold glare with such disgust Mark almost swallowed his tongue.

"So you're Tina Celes, the one responsible for the so called 'ultimate weapon' against cryptids and also Uriel's ex girlfriend." Hathaway snorted. Hearing Uriel's name was enough for Tina's stony mask to flake, but she then composed herself and spoke calmly.

"I have no relationship with him at the time being, if anything, I hate him."

"Then I guess your interests and mine align. Miss Celes, this could be the start of a fruitful collaboration." Hathaway shifted his demeanor and finally showed the respect Tina thought she deserved.

"Mister, the woman you asked us to find has been found in the desert. She was found living among what seemed to be a native tribe. The salt pan you asked us to find was also located." A masked hunter informed.

"Good, give her the best possible treatment available and take me to the Mojave desert. Miss Celes, I'll have my people get in touch with you."
