Empire Building With Infinite Warehouse-Chapter 78: Earth 1151
Chris planted his feet on the broken road and brought the massive blade down.
A golden wave of mana exploded upward, and the light was so bright it blinded everyone looking at it.
The wave grew taller and taller until the tip of the golden light actually brushed against the swirling red gate high up in the sky.
The giant monster looked up, and its massive eyes widened in pure terror right before the blade hit it.
Slash.
The monster just stopped moving.
The attack made no sound at first, but the golden wave did not stop at all.
It tore right through the beast and sliced deep into the concrete buildings standing blocks away as it travelled so far and so fast that it actually hit one of the other boss monsters way off in the distance.
The golden light cleanly chopped off that second monster’s newly grown hand.
Then the dead monster right in front of them split perfectly down the middle.
Its body fell to the street in two equal pieces as dark blood pooled over the broken roads, flooding the street like a broken pipe.
The golden knight armour vanished into thin air, and the giant sword faded away into nothing, leaving Chris completely exposed with his tattered clothes.
THUD.
Chris hit the ground hard.
His hands were completely red and ruined from the backlash of the weapon.
The system had warned him about fatal damage to his hands, and it was not lying.
His fingers were mangled, and the skin was torn straight to the bone.
He did not move at all; his eyes were rolled back, and he had already fainted before he even hit the pavement.
Julien ran to his friend’s side.
His own crushed hand was screaming in pain, but he ignored it and just focused on getting to Chris.
Alice was already kneeling next to the fallen tank.
Tears were streaming down her pale face, and her hands were shaking as she hovered over him.
"Chris, wake up," she urged him.
Her voice cracked badly.
"Come on, wake up."
But Chris did not move.
His chest was not rising.
Julien knew they were out of time.
He quickly spoke to the system in his mind.
Cancel the binding, he shouted internally.
A blue box popped up immediately in his vision.
[Contract cannot be cancelled without violating the rules.]
[Are you willing to pay the fine?]
Julien looked at the timer in the corner of his eye.
It said two minutes.
He did not get to use the full power of his mutated form, and he was cutting the expensive contract short, but that did not matter anymore.
He needed his inventory to save Chris.
Fine.
Cancel it and take as many credits as you want.
[System is processing the contract break.]
[Summoning the beast back.]
[The beast has accepted the request.]
Julien felt his body shift, and the change was brutal.
His strange features melted away, and his human body returned.
But the sudden reversal hit him like a truck.
His entire body ached deep in the muscles, mouth was burning, and his back and legs were itching like crazy from the mutated skin’s effect.
Worst of all, his passive monster healing stopped completely.
His crushed right hand throbbed so badly he almost lost consciousness.
His vision went completely dark at the edges, and the pain made his stomach twist.
He forced himself to stay awake and reached out with his mind and finally opened his regular inventory.
The restriction was gone.
He immediately bought a high-tier healing potion and handed it to Alice with his good hand.
She ripped the cork off with her teeth and carefully spilled the liquid into Chris’s mouth.
They waited for him to cough or swallow.
But Chris remained totally motionless.
The potion just pooled in his mouth and ran down his chin.
Julien did not care about his merchant credits at all.
He bought multiple bottles in a panic and shoved them toward her.
Alice fed Chris three more potions, tipping his head back to force the liquid down his throat.
But his chest still was not moving.
Julien uncorked a bottle with his teeth and drank one himself just to stay on his feet.
The liquid burned on the way down, but the potion could barely manage the terrible after-effects of breaking a monster contract.
He stumbled backwards and fell to his knees on the broken road.
He frantically searched through his regular shop interface for anything else.
He swiped past the healing items and looked at his utility products.
He saw climbing ropes, basic smoke bombs, stamina pills, flashlights, and standard night vision goggles.
"Fuck, fuck," Julien muttered, his voice hoarse.
"Isn’t there anything else?"
None of this stuff could bring someone back from the brink of death.
He was totally out of options, and he felt completely useless.
Then he remembered the message from earlier.
He opened his new Tier 3 inventory.
A golden box flashed right in his face.
[Tier 3 inventory unlocked.]
[Congratulations, Host.]
His eyes widened as he read the new categories.
He was a merchant, so he expected to see better guns, stronger armour, or advanced potions.
Instead, he saw entirely new tabs that made no sense to him.
[Blood Arts.]
[Sword Arts.]
[Spell Arts.]
What was this?
These were not physical items but actual skills and magic techniques.
Could he just buy magic powers now?
Julien screamed in frustration as he looked back at Chris.
He did not have time to figure out how to use a Blood Art or read a magic manual.
His friend was dying right now, and a menu of sword skills was not going to fix his stopped heart.
Then, a massive, glowing notification appeared right in the centre of his vision. It was different from his normal blue screens.
It was huge, and it looked like a global broadcast meant for everyone to see.
All the hunters on Earth looked at it.
[Congratulations, Earth 1151.]
[Human Chris has successfully defeated a Red Gate boss.]
[Earth has levelled up.]
[Two more defeats and you will officially be eligible to participate in the Multiverse Tournament.]
Right as the message faded, Chris gasped incredibly hard.
His chest heaved up off the ground, and he sucked in a massive breath of air like he had been holding it underwater.
He choked on the healing potions and coughed loudly and opened his eyes slowly.
He could not move his hands or arms at all, and his fingers were still mangled, but he was breathing again.
Alice let out a loud sob and pulled him into a tight hug.
She buried her face in his shoulder and just cried into his broken armour.
Chris gave a weak, tired groan, but he leaned his head against hers.
Julien sat on the broken road and just stared at the empty air in front of him.
He was completely bewildered by the massive reveal that the system just dropped.
The relief of seeing Chris breathe was quickly replaced by confusion.
Earth 1151?
