Chapter 23: The Allure of Mythical Chests! Stepping Back into the Ascension Domain

"What changes?" Caelus tilted his head in interest.

"For starters, everyone in the Special Class has been asked to transfer to one unified server even before the official merging with the older servers."

"Being in the same server is crucial in gathering resource points, and the faculty has specifically selected Server 512."

"Hm." Caelus acknowledged Albert’s words.

Wasn’t that the server Sylvia was currently in?

So they were grouping the Special Class students into the server with the strongest players in the school, huh?

Not a bad idea at all.

I should low-key try to extract Ren’s and Lara’s talents before they officially transfer, Caelus was thoughtful.

They must have some good stuff. For Ren, he knew the guy had some sort of Tremor authority, and Lara most likely had a high-tier support talent.

Speaking of transferring, a Server Transfer Card was required to execute such a move. Furthermore, a player needed explicit permission from at least ten existing players of a target server to shift from one to another. To maintain balance, the weaker players in the target server would, in turn, be forcibly shifted to the server the new players transferred from.

Of course, something like this happening would, without a doubt, weaken the overall integrity and average power level of the abandoned server. But in the end, all it took was some bribe money to change a player’s mind, especially when they were stuck at the absolute bottom of their server’s hierarchy.

"If I remember correctly, one needs to utilize Origin Credits, beast materials, and also permanently sacrifice a chunk of their EXP to craft a Server Transfer Card."

It was only natural. Having the need to sacrifice EXP based on your current level was a normal penalty for the process of transferring servers.

"That is right." Albert hesitated slightly. "I kind of do not want to do this, but the faculty said that matters outside have become far more dangerous. As a result, the top colleges have abruptly increased their overall baseline requirements to enter."

"Before, reaching Level 20 in the Iron I Realm was enough for the famous colleges. But now, the strict criteria has been aggressively increased to the Iron II Realm," Albert commented with a grimace. "And more changes are bound to come as well."

"Hm." Caelus appeared thoughtful.

The Colleges and Universities existed specifically for players and were originally founded by legendary, high-ranking players. They taught all sorts of specialized courses across their massive academies, the vast majority being directly related to the Origin Ascension Domain. They offered exclusive combat guidance and shared guarded tips and tricks that only that particular university possessed.

And not just that. If you were poor, then universities were your only realistic way to acquire high-tier skills without paying exorbitant market prices. You gained academic merit points by completing tasks, and you exchanged them for skills and all sorts of treasures in return.

Honestly, everyone wanted in on it, and so did Caelus.

Because, aside from all those benefits, each of these prestigious universities was actually run and heavily managed by the countless massive guilds and organizations in the real world.

In this reality, guilds and organizations were the major, dominant players. Their words were second only to the royal family of the Solaris Kingdom that they resided in.

In this modern dystopia, becoming an official guild member was one of the most respected achievements and lines of work possible.

Back in his original world, the peak of success was becoming a doctor, lawyer, or an engineer.

But here, it was becoming an elite guild member.

And joining these top-tier universities gave you direct, streamlined chances at being recruited as a guild member.

Once the tutorial Newbie Phase was finally over and the new servers forcibly merged with the main, older servers, survival would become infinitely more difficult and things will be different from how it is right now. Having higher-ranking members give you protection and guidance was definitely something a new player would desperately need.

"Oh well. I will think about it when the time comes." Caelus said as he lazily stretched and fell back onto his bed.

The Special Class drama didn’t really matter to Caelus. What he truly wanted to do was extract more talents and grind his combat score.

Being a massive game addict, Caelus wasn’t just going to sit idly while others existed within his same area who were stronger than him!

Going to Dungeons to hunt was also a highly viable option. He would gain pure Origin Credits and potentially find rare Loot Chests from clearing one.

Speaking of Loot Chests, they were highly sought after and had specific rarities and grades as well.

It followed the exact same rarity and grade system as the skills.

1-Star, 2-Star, 3-Star, and so on.

With the rarities being Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythical chests.

Each of these chests contained a massive pool of items; it was filled with all sorts of crazy possibilities. People could directly get raw combat score increases from them, potent healing potions, Physique Tempering Fruits, Affinity Fruits, unique skills, Evolution Catalysts which could permanently increase the rarity of a skill, Soul Contracts, rare beast eggs, exclusive titles, and treasure maps which contained the exact locations of hidden dungeons and ancient ruins filled with opportunities. It was even rumored that Mythical chests had a tiny chance to drop artificial Talents.

In short, you would never, ever pass up a Treasure Chest.

With those greedy thoughts in mind, Caelus took a much-needed nap.

After waking up, it would finally be time to descend into the Origin Ascension Domain once again.

Time passed by swiftly. A sharp system notification eventually woke Caelus up.

[System: You can enter the Domain again.]

Caelus sat up seeing this, a wide grin forming on his face.

To his left, Albert’s physical body was already slightly transparent. It looked like he had directly taken a dive in the moment it opened.

But, Caelus didn’t just go down yet.

He bought a set of rare armor from the trading hub first.

It was called the Red Dawn Armor Set, it came as a set of four, hence the 450 Origin Credits cost.

It contained a helmet, chestplate, Leg armor and boots. As soon as it dropped down onto the floor, he extracted the impurities from it.

They immediately became epic grade and he equipped it without hesitation.

[Combat Score: 11.55 -> 14.55]

It increased by three!

Common gave a 0.25 increment, Rare gave 1 and Epic gave 3!

He immediately felt his body drastically going light and his physique getting tougher.

The major increase here was his defensive capabilities, his attack stat was already above them.

Seeing this, Caelus did not wait more.

Light flashed across Caelus’s vision as his consciousness descended rapidly into the game world.

Whoosh!

Caelus appeared right at the exact place he was forcibly ejected out of yesterday.

Of course, there was naturally an option to spawn safely back inside his personal cabin in the starting town, but Caelus didn’t bother going back. His absolute top priority was leveling up and drastically increasing his combat score.

And as soon as Caelus materialized in the Domain, a massive new quest notification initiated in front of him.

[System: Quest Initiated!]
