Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 146: An Even More Relaxing Second Round of Hunting (6)
"Calling, calling, hello, hello, is anyone there?"
"Won’t anyone respond? Then I’ll call again in ten minutes."
After waiting for three ten-minute intervals, Ye Nai finally got the response she wanted on her fourth call.
"Right here, right here! Oh my, Xiao Yezi, you’ve finally come back!"
An excited voice transmitted from the other side of the radio.
"Miss me?"
"We thought we’d die of missing you."
"Wait for it, I’ve locked onto your direction."
"Alright, alright."
Ye Nai burst into laughter; it sounded like they were in desperate need of her Space storage for prey, so she pressed down the accelerator, speeding along her way.
Driving across the plain wasn’t as carefree as in the wetlands; the wetlands were truly flat, allowing the tracked vehicle to pass without impediment, but the plains were full of obstacles. Lush grass often hid unseen large stones, and it was a mystery how those stones got there.
This was the perfect place for spores and Fungus to unleash their power. Everywhere she went, the grass and bushes that blocked her line of sight collapsed, clearing her vision and forcefully carving out a path.
Ye Nai wound her way in the vehicle and finally saw the campsite after several hours.
"She’s here, she’s here!"
"Finally here!"
The campsite entrance was cleared for a wide field of vision. As Ye Nai’s tracked vehicle appeared in their line of sight, many people in the camp ran out to wait.
"Aw, such a warm welcome for me?" Ye Nai stopped the vehicle at the entrance of the camp, rolled down the window, stuck out her head, and looked around at everyone, "Did you find some top-tier prey that required my personal touch?"
"You hit the nail on the head. If you were two days later, we would have given up on the prey."
"Hold on, hold on, someone help me park the vehicle inside, and return the radio to logistics for me, will you?"
Ye Nai got out of the vehicle, and immediately someone took her place to drive it away, while she went with the others to learn about this troublesome prey.
They had moved to the plains earlier to hunt, and the results were quite good; all the prey was alive. With Ye Nai not around, no one dared to kill the prey directly, and they somehow managed to drag the badly wounded ones until now.
What troubled them was a nest of large ants that built their nest inside a tree trunk, which some entomologists once suspected to be a type of Otherworld termite.
These termites did not attack humans or animals, only showing interest in woody plants. They could hollow out a tree within a few years that required several people to encircle, resulting in the death of the tree, as frightful as a plant disease.
The valuable thing about them to humans was the formic acid, so they really wanted to take the whole Ant Nest with them when they stumbled upon it, but aside from Ye Nai, everyone else’s Space was filled with team supplies, leaving no spare capacity for such a large Ant Nest.
They were reluctant to give up on it, who knows, after they left, if it might be poached by another team.
"Thank goodness you came back in time, otherwise we really would have given up on it."
"Alright, leave it to me, we’ll take care of that ant nest come midnight."
Ye Nai didn’t think it was a big deal. As she agreed to handle it, she released a large number of spores to find those termites.
In the Fungal Space, there was such a huge chunk of energetic Super Concentrated Heart Core, not only boosting the ability of the Fungus but also beneficial to her. She could release more spores at once, control them over longer distances, and the spores would grow into Fungus more quickly. They could also more perfectly camouflage as Wood Element Awakeners.
While she was handing over equipment and tallying the prey from the second hunt to logistics, the spores she had released sent back feedback, they had found the termite nest.
Later on, the various small teams that had gone out to hunt returned, bringing back fresh prey. On learning that Ye Nai had arrived, they called her over in a hurry and asked her to store all the prey. They did not leave a single living creature.
"Don’t keep any alive, they’re a hassle to care for."
"The ones we sent back last time were enough,"

Ye Nai watched the group of team leaders, both men and women, all with furrowed brows, looking like they had had enough of the torment, trying to hold back a laugh as she collected the prey into her Space.
Caring for injured mutant beasts was not easy. Although drugs could be used to put them to sleep, if they remained unconscious, it was difficult to know if their injuries had worsened since the team did not have a professional veterinarian.
Before Ye Nai joined them, going hunting in the Secret Realm meant carrying a large number of thermal boxes, stripping the edible meat from the prey on the spot, and storing it in the boxes before placing them in the support team members’ Space. The duration of their stay in the Secret Realm mainly depended on the situation with the thermal boxes.
Now that they had Ye Nai, they didn’t carry as many thermal boxes, and instead, they brought more weapons and equipment in the freed-up space.
This time, for such a large mission, Ye Nai had split off from them. The thermal boxes had to be used again, and the heavily-wounded prey that could not be saved had their meat stripped, but if Ye Nai didn’t come back to join them soon, there would be no place to store the dead prey.
After Ye Nai finished collecting the prey, she started talking about the Otherworld white ants with the team leaders.
"Are we going to raid the ant nest tonight? That way, we can start our return journey at dawn."
"The ants were found by Captain Mei and her team, ask her."
"Going tonight and leaving tomorrow is fine, but have you ever done this at midnight?"
With a smile, Captain Mei casually draped an arm around Ye Nai’s shoulder, leaning her own weight onto her.
Ye Nai didn’t budge an inch, her feet not even slightly shaking.
"I’ve never done it, but to catch ants, the best time is midnight, during the day they are active everywhere."
"That’s true, so after dark, we’ll call the two teammates who discovered the ants, and the four of us will go together, quickly in and out."
"Okay."
And so it was settled. After nightfall, Ye Nai and Captain Mei, along with two others, drove off to raid the Ant Nest.
The rest of the camp started packing up, storing anything they could, preparing to break camp and start their return journey at first light.
Meanwhile, Ye Nai drove for over an hour, eventually coming to a stop.
The four in the vehicle were equipped with night-vision devices, with the only available light being the headlights of the car.
And even these headlights were not directed at the big tree housing the white ants.
"You walk ahead, it’s just a short distance, and you’ll see a very wide tree. There’s a large hole near the base of the trunk, that’s the entrance to the ant nest,"
"Okay, got it."
"Be careful, and if something feels off, retreat immediately."
"Don’t worry, I can fish in wetlands, dealing with little ants is a piece of cake."
Ye Nai put on her night-vision goggles and stepped out of the vehicle.
The others in the car turned off the headlights and observed through their night-vision devices.
In the Secret Realm, it was risky to use bright lights as they could attract nocturnal animals and plants.
That’s why the light from a single-person camping lamp was not very bright, giving off a dim glow over a very small area, all for safety reasons.
For larger teams, the brighter the light, the better.
Knowing that she was being watched, Ye Nai walked steadily towards the large tree, pressing against the trunk and pretending to collect ants from inside using her Space.
In reality, the massive Ant Nest within the trunk had been controlled by the Fungus long ago. As soon as Ye Nai’s car stopped, her Space had already instantaneously completed the collection, with the Ant Queen being the first capture.
She still had to make this trip though, all for show.
