Chapter 305: Hidden Truths

"There are some truths that cannot be hidden, Dark Lord," Emira said softly.

However, as her words echoed through the large courtyard, something shifted in the atmosphere. It was subtle at first, like a ripple moving through still water, barely noticeable, yet heavy enough to make every heart present tighten. The power that they had just witnessed seemed to surround her.

Slowly, the three men who had remained silent until now stepped forward, their movements coordinated as they formed a protective circle just behind her.

Aron frowned as his hands clenched. The veins along his arms stood out sharply, betraying his rising agitation. Emira smiled faintly and let out a soft sigh as she looked at him, her eyes unblinking as she stared at him, "You almost had me fooled with that sad little story. The poor, misunderstood Dark Lord. In love with Shiqi Stav, yet forced to accept Mira Stav because of your family burden and obligation toward Master Stav."

She watched as the Dark Lord’s eyes narrowed and continued, "And yet you played the role so well. Doting on the girl, treating her like a little sister, acting like the perfect guardian while teaching her dark arts despite it being forbidden. It was quite touching. Almost convincing. I even cried a bit for you. Blamed fate for being so cruel."

Her smile slowly faded as her eyes hardened.

"You performed so beautifully. Pretending to be benevolent toward Mira while secretly pining for Shiqi. You convinced me in that lifetime and even this one. With vague promises and clever diversions, making me feel guilty for having to be with you, forcing you apart from your beloved and yet, grateful at the same time. You truly mastered the art of emotional manipulation all those years ago, Dark Lord."

"If only you knew when to stop acting. Doesn’t it get old? Even, now, after hundreds of years, you are continuing the play, pretending to love her for eternity and yet hate her for her cruelty towards you. You are quite something."

"Mira. What are you trying to say?" Aron asked slowly.

"Still pretending? Fine, Ill explain myself, "You made others do all your dirty work while hiding behind that mask of love. You planted the seed of doubt in my mind that Shiqi was the one who was behind all this. After all, who could discover what bad deeds you had done when Shiqi was there to take the entire blame?"

She tilted her head slightly, studying his face. "You wanted everyone to believe you were the victim. The tragic hero caught between duty and desire. But it was all an act."

The Dark Lord frowned, confusion flashing across his features.

"What are you saying, Emira?" he demanded. "What acting? What truths? Haven’t you already regained your memories from the past? You know everything now, don’t you? So what are you trying to say?"

His voice grew sharper and yet, despite maintaining the facade, his fist continued to clench and unclench slowly.

"Why are you accusing me of things that never happened? Speak clearly, Emira. What exactly are you implying?" Even though he said the words, in truth, the Dark Lord continued to maintain his calm facade. His hand, however, slowly opened.

But before he could say or do anything, Zen stepped forward, standing between the man and Emira. "She is implying nothing, Dark Master. Just stating the facts. Since you have a problem understanding it now, let me explain it to you. With your old age, you might have lost bits of your memory. Quite understandable."

His eyes narrowed as he noticed the man’s hand, and he remained firmly planted in front of her, his stance protective and unyielding.

"Hundreds of years ago, when the prophecy was made, Master Stav quickly brought back Mira to his family, knowing that the other girl the prophecy spoke of was probably his daughter."

"But to raise this daughter of the dark witches legitimately among the light witch covens, he would need support from the dwindling dark witch covens. That is where your family came in. Respected witches but poor. So he helped your family from the verge of death, and they... in return, promised you to him. As payment while supporting Mira being raised in his family. All under the banner of ’the greater good’.

"And that is where Master Stav’s plan began. He slowly installed you at Mira’s side from a young age, teaching you what to do and how to do it. Even while he forbade her from being taught the dark arts, he looked the other way when you taught her. I wondered why he would do that. Wasn’t that foolish of him? Why forbid something when he was going to look the other way when his rule was being broken?"

"But now that we think about it, it was to win Mira over. So that she would always believe Aron was on her side. And what happened in the end proved it. Mira was totally devoted to you, even when her heart ached to be with others. To be with her true mates. She chose you over everyone else, every single time because she felt so indebted to you. What a perfect little plan."

Except Master Stav made one big mistake. He trusted you to follow his plan, which would eventually put his daughter on top of the world seizing the power from the Three lords. He planned to rule the world by seating his daughter at the very top. But instead, his best weapon- you, turned around and seduced his daughter right under his nose."

"Just like Master Stav taught you how to keep Mira enticed, you found a way to keep Shiqi hooked to you as well. Long glances when no one was looking. Small gifts brought under the guise of treating both sisters equally. Pretending to keep a proper distance. It was all your master plan. So that eventually, when the day came, you would kill all the others and absorb the Moon Goddess’ power yourself."

Just as Zen paused in his narration, Aron sighed. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"You’ve woven quite a story here, Prince Zen. But the truth is something else. I don’t know what you have done here but—"

"But nothing. We just happened to claim our mate using a little trickery. But don’t interrupt him now, let him finish his story."

Aron opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, Kael’s voice echoed in his head.

"I told you to let him finish the story. If you cannot stay quiet, I will help you."

With that, Aron’s eyes widened as he realized Kael had bound his mind.

Let alone talk, he couldn’t even open his mouth. Not even a sound escaped his throat.

How was that possible? How could a wolf do something like that? Fear flickered in his eyes for the first time. Until now, no one had been able to invade his mind, no matter how powerful. But this...

The three men and Emira watched the man’s expressions and felt their own face tighten. It was time to pull off this mask from this man’s face. And reveal the truth of everything that had happened in the past and in this life.
