Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 227: Reading her face
’’As you wish,’’ As Aleister watched her striding inside the room arrogantly, he could not help but smile.
Always the girl for challenges and curiosity.
Throw a challenge at Esme and watch her walk right into your trap.
As for her curiosity, she just wanted to know about everything and anything around her regardless of how calm and composed she managed to make herself look.
’’Close the door on your way inside,’’ Esme said, picking up Leo from the bed.
Aleister quirked a brow. Was she trying to show that even behind closed doors, she could keep her calm around him, unlike yesterday?
That intent on proving him wrong?
He smirked. We will see how it goes then.
He made eye contact with Leo and the beast jumped down from Esme’s arm as he ran out of the room.
"Leo!"
’’Let him be. I think he wants to look around the place.’’
’’They will eat him up,’’ Esme frowned.
Aleister laughed as he stepped inside the room, closing the door behind him. It will be more than enough if he does not end up eating someone.
All the while, he did not take his eyes off the woman standing in front of him, ’’No one will eat him.’’
’’What do you know?" Esme frowned.
She was trying to be respectful of his position and talk politely but everytime he said something, she felt like she was one breath away from spouting profanities.
’’My guards will keep an eye on him if that makes you feel better,’’ he shrugged.
Esme narrowed her eyes as a mocking smile crawled on her lips, ’’You think I trust him with you?" her voice was humorous.
This person brought out the rude, snarky and worst side of her that even she was unfamiliar with before meeting him. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Aleister stalked towards her with a playful glint in his eyes, ’’You can trust yourself here with me, in this empty room then why not?" his eyes lingered on her whole body before he met her eyes again.
And Esme knew... right there and then that she had invited trouble to herself.
To make it out of this trouble safely, she had to hold up her calm facade till this man decided that he was bored and he wanted to leave.
...
As the minutes passed by, Esme just stood there quietly while looking at the man who had made himself comfortable on a chair placed in front of the intricately carved wooden table where a chessboard was placed.
He had his chin propped up on the bridge of his intertwined fingers as he glanced out of the window in the room.
He was acting like he owned the place.
In a way, he did.
But Esme was left standing there not knowing where to stand or sit or what to say.
He thought he was intimidating her and just to prove him wrong, she acted on impulse and asked him inside.
Here they were.
He was enjoying his time.
And she was loathing every stubborn nerve in her body that made her act like this.
One more reason to hate this charming ’I will follow you to hell and stare at you there too’ Prince.
He put her calculative and cautious side to rest and made her act on impulse.
She hated it.
’’Are you appreciating the view?"
Esme jolted back to her senses when he turned his attention towards her.
As their eyes met, she blinked, ’’I do not know what you are talking about.’’
’’I was talking about how you cannot stop looking at me,’’ Aleister smiled, ’’Are you liking the view? If you are, then do appreciate it.’’
Esme pursed her lips. The sight of him smiling made her feel like someone picked a feather and tickled her heart. He looked particularly innocent, like a small child who got his toy to play with. The glow in his eyes made him seem happy.
Happy for what? She did not know.
And innocent? She knew better than to believe in this man and innocence going hand in hand.
He was not innocent in the way he thrust her against the wall and made her feel things that were too unfamiliar to her.
’Don’t act like you did not like it,’ A voice in her head said and Esme threw the voice aside.
There was nothing about this man that she liked.
Maybe except for his eyes. They were beautiful, pale blue.
Blue eyes ran in their family because she noticed Cardan and Aleister both had these eyes from his father.
But it was Aleister’s eyes that she liked the most. Somehow they reminded her of the surface of the sea which shone and sparkled under the sunlight and reflection of the Crystal Castle. Pale blue.
And maybe she liked how strikingly his face was carved to perfection. It deserved an artist’s attention.
And the artist hidden within her was sometimes unruffled by the sight of him. Most of the time, honestly.
’’I see that you are indeed appreciating the view,’’ he tilted his head to the side.
Esme pursed her lips. He could not read her thoughts, right? Immortals did not have power like that, did they?
"I can’t read your thoughts but your face... it’s an open book for me, my dear moon,’’ his smile widened when her expression shifted.
Esme stomped her foot on the butterfly that took flight inside her body. Why did he have to address her like that? She... HATED... it!
At this moment, there were some noises from outside.
Esme turned towards the closed door. She could sense four people approaching in the direction of this room.
’’Don’t worry. They are my guards and some maids,’’ Aleister said.
And this time, her head whipped in his direction, ’’You can read my mind,’’ she blocked off her thought process as she stepped back, ’’You...’’
’’Calm down,’’ Aleister rolled his eyes, ’’I happen to hear the footsteps so I thought that’s why you looked at the door.’’
