Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 244: Jer the mer
Aleister rolled to the side and grabbed the back of her head, pulling her close till she was cocooned in his arms.
She inched closer to him, pressing her cheek on his chest as she hummed.
He kissed her hair, inhaling her familiar scent as he closed his eyes.
He would give up on anything to have this moment last longer. Anything.
The next morning.
Esme tried to roll to the side but her movements were obstructed.
She tried to move again but the arm around her waist tightened.
Esme slowly opened her eyes, shielding them with the back of her palm as she tried to adjust her vision to the glaring sunlight entering through the gaps between the velvet curtains draped over the glass walls.
She removed her palm from her face and the first thing that greeted her vision was the face of the man who was holding her tightly in his embrace.
Aleister had one of his hands placed under her neck while the other hand was draped over her waist, holding her closer to his body.
The memories of last night gradually came back to her and Esme blinked as she glanced at the man.
His long lashes cast a shadow over his face and there was a permanent frown fixated in between his brows.
She raised her hand, moving it closer to his face.
Before she could touch him, the sound of hurried approaching footsteps startled her.
Esme immediately rolled out of his embrace. She removed his arm from her waist.
Aleister was stirred awake by her movements. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
He glanced at the woman who staggered to get out of the bed.
He sat up on the bed and reached out to hold her.
Esme shook her head, ’’I am fine.’’
Aleister glanced at her quietly but before he could say anything, there were three consecutive knocks on the door.
He noticed how Esme stiffened.
Esme quickly adjusted her hair and her clothes and in the next moment, the door was pushed open as an unfamiliar face greeted his vision.
’’Jer,’’ Esme walked towards the man with a smile.
Aleister’s eyes darkened. Was this Jer a mer who was the said ’fiance’ of his ’woman’?
Jeremiah’s worried eyes roamed all over Esme, ’’I was going insane thinking that something happened to you, Es.
Es? Aleister’s brows nearly touched his hairline. Just the sight of Esme standing together with another man was a distress, yet the said man had the audacity to call her Es?
’’I am fine. Nothing is wrong with me,’’ Esme patted his shoulder, ’’Did the King end your punishment?"
"He did. He sent his guards to escort me back to the castle to you. When I heard that you were unconscious...’’ Jeremiah did not finish his words, his worried eyes roaming all over Esme.
He pulled her into his arms and stroked her back.
’’I was so worried, Es,’’ Jeremiah whispered, dragging a hand through his face.
’’Did nobody tell you that you have a witness?" A cold voice rang in the room, demanding both of their attention.
In the next moment, a golden ray shot near Jeremiah’s neck. He pulled back from Esme and bend his body backwards, making it just in time as the golden ray transformed into a sword.
’’Jer,’’ Esme rushed to hold his shoulder as the sword disappeared in thin air, sprinkling golden dust with its disappearance.
’’Nothing happened,’’ Jeremiah shook his head at her and turned to look at the man standing near the bed.
Jeremiah looked like he noticed the man’s presence for the first time since he stepped inside the room.
Esme followed his gaze, ’’Let us go to your room. You have been inside the Norwell manor so you do not know about a lot of things. I will tell you all about it,’’ she tugged at his sleeve.
Jeremiah nodded at her. The look on Aleister’s face seemed to have told him that the man was not very fond of him and the sword attack was more than enough of an evidence to back that claim.
Hence, he averted his gaze from Aleister and held Esme’s hand, ’’Let us go.’’
Aleister narrowed his eyes, ’’Esme,’’ his voice dipped dangerously.
Esme turned around to look at him.
’’You are not going anywhere,’’ his tone held a warning.
Esme frowned, ’’I don’t like being told what to do,’’ she paused for a moment as she narrowed her eyes, ’’And it is not your place, Your Highness, to tell me what I should do.’’
With that said, she turned around and nodded at Jeremiah.
Aleister’s eyes darkened as he watched them leave the room.
Hand. In. Hand.
And every nerve in his body itched to behead anyone who came into his vision at the moment. Anyone other than his sweet moon who did not bother to look at him after she buried herself in the warmth of his body all night.
He warmed her bed but she left while holding another man’s hand.
Aleister felt like he was used. And abandoned.
And right when he was trying to dampen his rage, a yawning Leo strutted inside the room cheerfully.
Aleister lowered his head to look at the beast, ’’You won’t blame me now, will you?"
The man’s devious voice made Leo’s hair stand on his body.
The beast shifted his paws back in steps as huge as his small body could make.
But before he could run out of the room, Aleister snapped his fingers.
Leo disappeared in thin air and a white butterfly fluttered its wing.
Aleister scoffed, ’’Sit on the wall and keep your eyes on them. The moment he touches her, rip his arms off and shove them into the sea,’’ the corner of his lips tilted up in a shrewd arc.
He could not kill that good-for-nothing because he did not want to make Esme hate him more than she already did.
But that did not mean he could not get his existence wiped.
