Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 279: Little fruit
’’Is that what you need?"
"This is what I want,’’ Esme turned around and walked towards the window, clutching the sheets tighter around her body.
She was greeted with silence.
Esme turned around only to find the room empty.
She sat on the cold floor quietly as she drew lines on it with her index finger, the very same finger which had been drawing on his chest.
Esme did not realize when her eyelids started getting heavy and her breathing turned even as she leaned back on the wall and dozed off.
A shadow enveloped her as Aleister pulled her up in his arms and carried her to the bed.
He placed her down gently and glanced at her face for some time before he stroked her hair.
...
Inside the King’s bedchamber.
’’Your Majesty,’’ With a thump, the royal physician who was the King’s right-hand man dropped to his knees. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Rezeph almost rolled his eyes, ’’Didn’t I tell you to not exaggerate it so much? Old habits die hard, old man, but you need to adapt. It has been a long time yet you haven’t shed your habits.’’
The old man bit his bottom lips to suppress his grievance, ’’So what if anyone sees this? I am kneeling in front of my King.’’
’’You are not kneeling. You are crashing in front of a mortal King. Look at you eyeing my feet like meat...’’ Rezeph was speechless as he pulled his legs up to the bed and leaned on the headboard, ’’Don’t act so servile. Walls have ears.’’
’’Your Majesty~" The old man wanted to cry, ’’I have followed you for centuries yet you are still so cruel to me.’’
’’What did I say about keeping it down?" Rezeph’s eyes narrowed, ’’I rarely get my daughter’s attention. A world full of treasures yet nothing entices her but I was able to pull her over because of that old library. Yet you had to interrupt my time. What are you, my aide or nemesis?"
’’My Lord~ My Lord~ How can you say that?" The old man almost whined, ’’Wasn’t it me who saw that little girl first and told you about her?"
’’You did. Now, what did you disturb me for?" Rezeph tilted his chin to the side.
’’Marcus Norwell is gone. His Highness Cardan’s men captured him.’’
’’Hmm,’’ Rezeph nodded, ’’So, what did you disturb my time with my daughter for?’’
The old man nearly spurted a mouthful of blood when he heard that, ’’Marcus Norwell is gone,’’ he repeated.
’’So?"
’’He held power in the court, Your Majesty. He is gone now and the power will be imbalanced.’’
’’Between the court and my little fruit, who do you think is more important?" Rezeph asked as one of his brows raised imperceptibly.
"Your Majesty, i-it’s your little f-f-fruit...’’
’’How audacious!’’ Rezeph pushed himself to his feet, ’’You had the nerve to do the comparison? Do you think my daughter is someone who can be compared with such trifles?"
The poor subordinate, Elder Hall wanted to burst into tears. Who was it asking whether the court was important or his little fruit?
Rezeph picked up a hand mirror and glanced at his face and soon his handsome face started changing, the features were altered.
Standing before Elder Hall was a man who once brought people to their knees in heaven. Striking grey eyes and wine-shaded hair that reached his shoulders, the man was devilishly handsome.
The resemblances that his face had with Esme were visible to the naked eye.
Elder Hall’s eyes turned emotional.
In the heavens, there was no day or night. All that was there was vast darkness and a blanket of stars.
The God of Death, Atlas, represented the night and his old friend, the God of Water, Zephyr represented the day.
God Atlas was detached and aloof, a stoic man whose words were brittle and harsh like the coldest of snow. But God Zephyr on the other hand was what they defined as an allure, one gaze of his eyes and you would be charmed forever, a man full of breathtaking smiles and bewitching words.
But one tragedy changed everything forever.
Those old court officials had been waiting for an opportunity to overthrow God Zephyr and when they got it, they did not hold back.
Elder Hall, as the right-hand man of the god, followed him to the mortal world even when God Zephyr asked him to not do that.
How could he stop serving his God?
Elder Hall knew that those people must have regretted their decision because without God Zephyr holding the pillars, the water throne would never exist. It was bound to be doomed from the beginning.
’’Stop thinking about unnecessary things while you are still being held answerable for disturbing my time with my precious,’’ God Zephyr, now going by the name Rezeph, interrupted the old man’s thoughts.
Elder Hall wanted to cry but he lacked tears. He was going to lose his head soon.
The wheels in his head turned. He was not God Zephyr’s right-hand man without a reason. In heaven, people from every kingdom dreaded him just like the members of the loch royal court. But with the fall of the god, he also stepped down from his position and followed him to the mortal world.
Years of drowning himself in the pleasures of a carefree world had indeed made him rusty but his mind was still sharp, ’’Your Highness, Lady Esmeray...’’ he paused when the King’s eyes narrowed.
’’Who am I?" Rezeph interrupted.
Elder Hall’s lips quivered, ’’My God.’’
’’Now.’’
’’My King...’’ Why are you getting more and more temperamental?
’’So, how should you address my little fruit?"
’’P-Princess Esme...’’ Elder Hall’s lips quirked up in a smile full of flattery as the King’s face softened, ’’The Princess wants to marry the heir apparent. But it seems like Prince Aleister has some intentions for her too. He even left heaven to come here.’’

A/N: To the readers who guessed Rezeph’s identity around Chapter 200—you all deserve a rightful place in the spy community. At that point in time, this part of the plot was still in my head. I had not even written it in drafts, my little geniuses lol.
