Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 280: Anything she wants
Rezeph frowned, ’’How could I not know his intentions? I am his Master.’’
Self-proclaimed Master. Self-imposed father. Elder Hall’s face did not betray his grievous thoughts but Rezeph glared at the old goat like he could see everything.
’’That scoundrel, Atlas... He has to step on my tail even while sitting up there,’’ Rezeph sighed, ’’He even sent his son to seduce my daughter.’’
’’Your Majesty, the Princess and the Prince had entanglements before the latter met God Atlas,’’ Elder Hall had witnessed that during the Visteria fair where he was pretending to be a shopkeeper for a change of scenery.
’’Isn’t it the scoundrelish blood that Atlas has left in his son?"
"_" Scoundrelish? Is that something an honored person like you would say?
"Did you forget the rest of our discovery? He tricked her into pretending to be his fiancée, he made her rely on him, he kept an eye on her, he made her share a room with him...’’ The more Rezeph spoke, the darker his grey eyes seemed to have turned, ’’And my naïve little fruit named it love because she had no one around to guide her.’’
Naïve... If your daughter is naïve, then where would the rest of the girls in the world put their faces? That girl seemed like a clueless person after she lost her memories, but her every move seemed to be calculated and if one looked closely, one would notice that all her words and actions seemed to be manipulated and molded to fit the circumstances.
But those were the observations of a bystander. In the father’s eyes...
’’It’s good that my little fruit has now opened her eyes after losing her memory. Anything she wants, I can get it for her. If she wants Atlas’ son, I will let her have him till she got the urge to discard him.’’
Discard Prince Aleister? What was he, a broken toy? ’’Your Majesty, didn’t you say you are his Master?"
Rezeph sighed, ’’I recognized that boy as Atlas’ son since the first day I laid my eyes on him. He seemed to be on the verge of death but the raging divine powers inside his body stirred me. When I saw the inkings of a butterfly on his back, I thought that he was Atlas’s son with that witch. But one look at his face and I knew that he was that human’s son."
This was the first time Elder Hall heard the man talking about the past, about heaven, about his old friend who did not even know about his existence now. God Zephyr had disappeared for everyone, even for his only friend. Replacing him was a different person, the King of Defire, Rezeph, an ordinary mortal King who was secretly immortal.
With the passing of centuries, he changed his appearance to not arouse suspicions.
When he was dethroned, nobody cared about God Zephyr.
The sea was empty.
He found a suitable woman and knowing his responsibilities for the sea creatures, he had brought them into existence. Despite his heart not being there, he chose a Queen and transformed her into one of their kind so that they could take the clan further. Unlike Zephyr, the Queen was mortal. She passed away after a few decades.
The creatures in the sea kept growing. A few centuries later, Zephyr shed off his identity and disguised himself as a new King with every passing century before people from the water court started approaching him or coming anywhere close to his real identity.
Without God Zephyr, the throne had lost its value. But the man did not want to reclaim his throne after the trials and tribulations they had put him through. When he needed his people, they stabbed him in the back.
And by the time they needed him back, he turned his back on them without hesitation.
Hence the existence of God Zephyr became a mystery, a part of the folklore gradually.
Despite not being in heaven, Elder Hall planted his spies there before he followed his God. Hence, they knew everything that happened there.
Rezeph claimed to not care about what occurred in heaven. Most of the time, Rezeph did not pay attention to the information they received unless it was related to the Dark Castle, or the man sitting on the throne of the Dark Castle, Atlas.
The atmosphere in the bedchamber had turned tense.
Elder Hall closed his eyes.
Rezeph frowned, ’’What do you look so pathetic for? So what if I am Aleister’s Master, does that means I will let him steal my daughter?"
Elder Hall fell speechless. Here he was concerned that His Majesty would be bothered after reminiscing about the past, but the man had yet to move on from his daughter, ’’You’re right, Your Majesty but... she wants to marry the heir apparent now. He can’t be compared to the Prince... and also, he...’’ The man hesitated for some time before he spoke, ’’He is not simple. We let him walk on the steps to the throne with ulterior motives.’’
Rezeph leaned back on the headboard of the bed, the shadows of the lanterns casting a warm glow on his face, ’’If he is what my little fruit wants, I will tame him for her. He will sit on his knees and be her puppet for as long as she wants.’’
Elder Hall had never married in his life but he knew marriage did not work this way. He was about to say that to the man when Rezeph spoke up again.
’’As long as it makes her happy, I will get her a man, a lover, or even a husband,’’ Rezeph smirked, ’’As for Jeremiah, since my daughter had set her sights on him, I will let her play with him. That is... after I handle him.’’
Elder felt a chill creeping down his spine when Rezeph’s tone dipped towards the end. Jeremiah was not a man who was worthy of Esme but to think that the King would still let her have him despite knowing that...
The man’s love for his daughter was twisted. He would not forbid her from going after her happiness. He would, however, make it certain that the said happiness did not bite his daughter.
