Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 171: You Are My Power Bank
Prescott Group President’s Office.
Assistant Owen Paxton handed his phone to Silas Prescott: "President Prescott, this is the latest phone launched by Z Group. It’s almost identical to our upcoming FX90, and the functions inside are basically the same. If our phone goes on sale next week as planned, we’ll definitely be accused of plagiarism."
Silas Prescott studied the handset carefully. It really did look a lot like their new product.
This product was personally led and developed by him. No one could surpass the technology or the design inside.
For Z Group to launch such a product in such a short period of time, there was only one possibility—there must be a mole in their R&D team.
This phone alone cost hundreds of millions just in development. If the launch failed, shareholders would surely start to doubt him.
And if someone stirred up trouble then, even his position as president wouldn’t be safe.
Without even thinking, Silas Prescott knew exactly who was the mastermind behind all this.
Owen Paxton added, "President, Miss Lynn Dalton is waiting for you in the conference room. If she’s willing to help, maybe we can get through this crisis."
Lynn Dalton was Silas Prescott’s college classmate. Later she went abroad for her doctorate, and in Meridia’s computer field, she’s a top talent.
Silas Prescott immediately stood up. "Come with me to meet her."
He’d just left the office when he saw Damien Prescott swaggering over.
With a smug grin on his face, "Bro, you haven’t heard yet, have you? Z Group’s phone sold out today. Orders have already been placed for several months ahead. I’m afraid your design’s about to flop."
Silas didn’t get angry; he even gave a slight smile. "Trying to use this to take me down? Damien, you think too highly of yourself."
"Don’t forget when you started this project, you signed a betting agreement. If you fail, you’ll have to pay out billions. Hahaha, bro, do you think you’ll even have your underwear left?"
"Waiting for my downfall? Better live long enough to see it."
With that, he turned and headed toward the conference room.
Damien watched Silas’s retreating figure, sneered coldly, "Silas Prescott, your backyard’s about to catch fire. Let’s see if you still have the stomach to handle all this."
He reached the conference room door and saw Silas talking with Lynn Dalton.
The two looked like they knew each other well.
Damien instantly took out his phone and started recording.
Lynn got straight to the point. "Silas, I know your group is in trouble, so I quit my job and rushed here. I believe, given our combined skills, we can quickly resolve this crisis."
Silas nodded politely. "Thank you. I’ll pay you five times the salary you get in Meridia."
Lynn’s cold features broke into a faint smile. "Silas, you should know I don’t need money. You should also know the only thing I want is you. As long as you agree to be with me, I’ll help you get through this and develop even more advanced products together, so nobody can shake your position in the company."
As she spoke, she leaned toward Silas, grabbing his tie.
With a quick tug, eyes seductive, she looked at him. "Silas, right now, I’m the only one who can help you. Otherwise, if you lose the bet, you’ll be ruined. Be with me—we’ll crush everyone like we did in college."
But Silas didn’t budge at all. He shoved her hard, knocking her into the chair.
He even tore off his tie and tossed it straight into the trash.
"If this is why you came back, you can leave now. I won’t work with you."
After that, he started to walk out.
Lynn’s voice came from behind: "Silas, what’s so good about Sienna? She doesn’t have the family backing to help you; she doesn’t have my brains. Are you really going to give up Prescott Group for her? Not to mention, if you lose this bet, you might not even be able to support your son. Do you really think Sienna would stay with you?"
Hearing all this, Silas gave a light laugh. "That’s my business; don’t trouble yourself about it. If I’d known your real motive for getting close to me, I’d never have let you in."
And with that, he left without a second glance at Lynn.
Watching his disappearing back, Lynn stomp her foot in frustration. "Silas Prescott, I’ll make you accept me sooner or later."
She opened the door and was just about to leave, when she saw Damien standing in the doorway with a wicked grin.
He reached out a hand. "Hello, Miss Dalton. I’m Damien Prescott. My brother won’t work with you, but you can work with me."
Lynn shot him a look of disdain. "You’re not even qualified to talk to me."
And with that, she left directly.
——
Sienna Paxton had just finished a pre-op meeting for a serious car accident victim.
She left the meeting room with the other doctors, still discussing surgical options.
Suddenly a nurse called out to her. "Dr. Paxton, someone’s here for you. I asked her to wait in your office."
Sienna thanked her and hurried toward the office.
When she pushed open the door, she saw a woman standing at the window.
The woman was tall, dressed in a business suit, with long, slightly wavy hair cascading over her shoulders.
Just from the silhouette, Sienna could sense the charismatic elite aura from this woman.
She walked up behind her, voice calm. "Miss, did you need something?"
Hearing her voice, the woman slowly turned around, an official smile appearing on her exquisite face.
She extended her hand politely, "Hello, Miss Paxton. We meet again."
Sienna stared at her face for a long while, finally remembering who she was.
Her name was Lynn Dalton, Silas Prescott’s college classmate, and the daughter of his professor.
Back in school, she used to work on R&D projects with Silas.
Won plenty of design awards together too.
Back then, people said they were a match made in heaven.
They were talented and beautiful—a powerful duo.
Later, when Silas graduated, he gave up the chance to study abroad and took over Prescott Group.
At the time, Lynn tried to get Sienna to persuade Silas to go abroad with her, saying it was a rare opportunity.
As girls, Sienna could see how Lynn felt about Silas.
She already was with Silas then.
Though she felt a pinch of jealousy, she still passed on Lynn’s message to Silas.
What she didn’t expect was that Silas not only ignored it—he accused Sienna of trying to leave him as an excuse.
And because of that, he punished her harshly.
Now, years later, seeing this woman again made Sienna a little surprised.
Her lips curved faintly. "Is there something you need, Miss Dalton?"
Lynn was very direct and went straight to the point. "I won’t beat around the bush. Prescott Group’s about to launch a phone, but someone undercut them. Silas signed a betting agreement with the shareholders—if the project fails, he’ll have to pay billions in compensation.
I think you don’t want Silas to lose his position and end up in huge debt.
Right now, I’m the only one who can help him. But my condition is that you leave his side.
Miss Paxton, not everyone is fit to be the Prescott family’s young mistress. You have no family background, and you can’t help Silas in business. You’re not the best partner for him. I advise you to leave him—otherwise, you’ll ruin him."
Hearing that, Sienna was frozen.
These days, Silas hadn’t clung to her. He’d been working late every night.
So that’s what he was busy for.
He hadn’t told her anything about the project trouble.
She felt something complicated inside, hard to describe.
But it didn’t show on her face—she just smiled calmly. "Before coming to me, you must’ve gone to Silas. He turned you down, didn’t he?"
Lynn gave a light laugh. "He’s considering your feelings, doesn’t want to abandon you. But if you really love him, you should put his interests first. Don’t push him into hell for your own selfishness."
"Do you love him that much, Miss Dalton?"
"Of course. If it weren’t for you, I’d have been with Silas long ago."
Sienna smiled gently. "Really? If you truly loved him, you wouldn’t threaten him like this, would you?"
Seeing she was unfazed, Lynn gritted her teeth, "Sienna, as long as you leave Silas, I’ll agree to help him—otherwise, he’ll be ruined."
"That’s his business. I have no right to interfere. But I know one thing—when he’s at his lowest, it’d be wrong to walk out on him. I promised him I wouldn’t leave, and I keep my word."
"Ha, you talk a good game. When Silas is ruined, I’d like to see what you do then."
"Then I’ll support him."
That one line nearly made Lynn explode on the spot.
Fuming, she grabbed her bag, glaring at Sienna. "When things go wrong, don’t regret it, Sienna."
With heavy steps, she left.
Just out of the elevator, she saw Damien Prescott lounging at the entrance.
On seeing her, he whistled. "Miss Dalton, since Silas has let you down, the best way to get back at him is to watch him destroyed. Work with me—I’ll pay you more than any of them."
If he could steal Lynn over, he’d definitely bring Silas to ruin.
Once he took over Prescott Group, Lynn could help him with her tech expertise.
Two birds with one stone.
Lynn lifted her chin haughtily. "I want a ten percent cut of the project."
Seeing she agreed, Damien smiled in satisfaction. "Deal. We can sign the contract right now. Later, I’ll even give you Prescott Group shares."
Hearing that, Lynn nodded. "Let’s go, find somewhere to discuss details."
——
After dinner, Sienna realized Silas still hadn’t come home.
She packed up some food and drove to the Prescott Group office.
Seeing her arrive, the receptionist immediately stood up. "Miss Paxton, are you here to see President Prescott?"
Sienna was curious, "You know me?"
The receptionist smiled. "Of course we do. Your story with President Prescott is almost a novel here. He’s already told us, you don’t need to announce yourself, just go upstairs directly."
Sienna smiled and nodded. "Thank you. I’ll head up now."
She carried her things up the president’s private elevator.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw several people come out of the president’s office looking disheveled.
Each of them seemed shaken, as if they’d just been scolded.
Sienna knocked several times on the office door, and after several seconds, a low, hoarse voice answered inside.
"Come in."
Sienna pushed the door open. She saw Silas sitting at his desk, back to the door.
White smoke was drifting up in front of him.
Sienna couldn’t see his face, but just from his voice, it was clear he was in a terrible mood.
She walked quietly to his side and put the food flask down on his desk.
Softly, she called out, "Silas."
At the sound of her voice, Silas spun around abruptly.
Seeing Sienna standing there, he quickly crushed out his cigarette.
That cold, handsome face lit up with joy. "Sienna, what are you doing here?"
He stood up, walked over, and wrapped her in his arms.
Burying his face in her neck, inhaling her scent deeply several times.
Then he said, "Sienna, you’re my little power bank."
Sienna stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips, smiling, "Charged up now?"
Silas leaned next to her ear, voice husky, "Sienna, to recharge, you have to plug the charger in the socket. Same goes for me—that’s the only way to get fully charged."
At first, Sienna didn’t get what he meant and giggled.
But when she saw the playful gleam in Silas’s eyes, she realized there was more to it.
Her porcelain-white face instantly flushed red.
Annoyed, she thumped his chest. "Pervert!"
Silas grinned, cupped her face, and kissed her lips. "Fine, one kiss. We’ll finish charging up at home."
Then he caught her soft lips between his own. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Sienna pushed him. "Silas, stop it, this is the office."
Silas pulled her onto his lap. "Relax. No one dares barging in without my say-so."
The two of them kissed passionately, and who knows how long it lasted before Sienna finally pushed him away.
Her voice was still tinged with post-passion huskiness.
"I brought you dinner. Eat while it’s hot, before it gets cold."
Silas’s dark eyes locked onto her. "You heard everything?"
Sienna nodded, "Yeah, Lynn came to find me."
On hearing that, Silas tensed up. "What did she want? Did you agree to anything? Sienna, if you dare make a decision without consulting me, I’ll ravish you to death in bed."
Seeing how sensitive he was, Sienna knew she’d made the right choice.
For Silas Prescott, not being abandoned was what mattered most.
She stroked his head with a smile, "She asked me to leave you, but I didn’t agree. I believe you’ll make it through this."
On hearing this, Silas finally relaxed.
He pinched Sienna’s chin. "Sienna, no matter what happens, don’t leave me. Compared to anything else, you’re all I want."
Sienna snuggled into his arms, laughing, "It’s fine. Even if you actually lose this time, I’ll support you."
"Okay, Silas’ll wait for you to keep me."
They were still chatting when Chase Hughes knocked and came in. Seeing Sienna, he was puzzled, "Sienna, weren’t you supposed to be out having dinner?"
Sienna: "No, I didn’t go out tonight. Maybe you saw wrong."
Chase frowned in confusion—the person he’d seen at the restaurant looked just like Sienna. Had he had too much to drink and his eyesight gone fuzzy?
For several days, Silas hadn’t gone home, busy brainstorming solutions with his team.
After work, Sienna went to pick up Julian Prescott.
The teacher looked surprised: "Julian’s mom, you’re back again? Did you forget something?"
Hearing this, Sienna felt something was off.
She’d just arrived—so why did the teacher say "back again?"
She immediately asked, "Who picked up Julian?"
