Eternal Freedom's Ascension-Chapter 153: Bloodling
"A Bloodling," Kaiser turned away. "Or what we know as a vampire."
He sighed to himself, staring into the evening sky.
"I’ve met several of your kind—even killed a few."
Kiera’s body trembled in a mix of fear and rage.
He turned to her, his blue eyes carrying a hint of curiosity.
"Your kind almost caused the doom of humans back then. I wonder what your origin is."
He began to approach her, his steps calm and unhurried.
"You didn’t just call me out here to confirm if I know you, right?" He stopped in front of her, staring down at her. "What... do you want from me?"
Kiera suppressed the trembling in her body, keeping her gaze locked with his. Her red eyes was deeply contrasting to his blue eyes.
"I can see you hold no prejudice against us bloodlings." She said, her breath slowed. "Although I didn’t want to expose this to anyone, I can’t hide it from you."
She slowly bared her fangs to him. "It’s very hard blending in with the normal students in this academy. I barely get blood from my friends, and I am always at the risk of getting caught."
Kaiser tilted his head. "You compell them to forget you feeding on them? Interesting. But you don’t seem to be going after Liam, is that right?"
Kiera looked away. "I... like him. At least amongst others, he’s tolerable and nice. But I’m scared of opening up to him."
He nodded in understanding, then yawned. "You’re wasting too much of my time. Speak."
Kiera winced, biting her lip. "I... I want you to be my host."
The instant she said it, it felt like the air froze. Kaiser spoke, though his voice had turned several degrees colder.
"You realize I have no prejudice against your kind, don’t you?"
"Yet, do you wonder why I killed a few of your kind in the past?"
Kiera’s eyes widened.
"I killed them because they thirsted after my blood."
She felt her breath hitch, and a biting cold accompanied with fear permeated her body.
She saw a blurry vision—an image of a blue-haired boy being covered in blood. A pale, twisted smile played at his lips as he turned to her.
’Why is it difficult to breathe? Ugh.’
Kaiser leaned down a bit, placing his face just inches from hers.
"You’re... bold."
He straightened and turned away from her. "Killing you now would cause some minor ruckus. Let’s just gamble it out."
He gave her a neutral smile, then brought out a coin from his pocket.
Kiera stepped back immediately, her body tense, and her fangs bared. She could vividly remember how he had used that same coin to decide Eric’s fate in the last semester.
’Is he really going to kill me? Damnit! I have to run.’
"Freeze."
Her body went stiff, and to her horror, she realized she couldn’t move from a single spot.
"You... you hacked the limiters?"
She was shocked, her gaze dropping to the bracelet around his wrist. It still showed it was active, but she couldn’t explain what strange ability he used to control her.
’He must have hacked it! There’s no other explanation.’
Kaiser shook his head, "It’s a hassle explaining to you."
He played with the coin and said, "If it’s heads, I’ll kill you. If it’s tails, I’ll agree to your proposal with an additional clause."
Smiling faintly, he asked. "Isn’t it interesting?"
As he stared at her, he saw a flicker of dark red color within Kiera. It was obvious she was at death’s door. This coin was what would decide her life or death.
Under her desperate gaze, he flicked the coin up. It spun in the air, then dropped to the back of his palm—a tail.
’Huh...’
Kaiser frowned slightly, disappointed. Meanwhile, Kiera sighed in relief. Her tensed muscles relaxed, and she fell to the ground, breathing heavily.
’He’s frowning. That means he obviously wanted to kill me. Will he go back on his words?’
To her surprise, Kaiser’s frown disappeared. He crouched before her and smiled. It was a genuine smile that charmed and frightened her.
"Congratulations. I am now your host for as long as I am in this academy."
Kiera stared at his outstretched hand, her body still trembling slightly. She hesitantly reached out, and the next moment, she found herself leaning against him as they stood.
Kaiser’s voice was flat. "Go on. Have your first drink."
Being in such a close proximity, Kiera’s breath hitched.
’His veins are clearer now... it’s so alive.’
Her eyes glistened with temptation and craving, but she restrained herself. Although she couldn’t see his expression, she could tell that it was probably a bored one.
’Would he kill me as soon as I bite him? This damned guy...’
She closed her eyes, gritting her teeth.
’Fuck it! I’m at least going to drink his blood before I die or something!’
"What are you still doing? You should—"
Bite!
’Ugh.’
Kaiser winced, his brows twitching. Kiera’s sharp fangs sank into his skin, directly into his veins. From the four tiny holes created, he could feel his blood being sucked out, along with a weird sensation that made him frown.
’W-what?!’
Kiera’s eyes went wide as she got a taste of his blood. It was nothing like the others she had taken in the past. She shivered in ecstacy, allowing the taste to simmer on her tongue before swallowing.
’This... I can only call it a nectar.’
Her eyes shone with a hungry light, and she sucked more of his blood. After a minute and half, she heard Kaiser release a shaky sigh. The soft sigh snapped her back to reality.
’Damnit! I’ve been drinking for so long! That sigh... is he going to kill me?’
She immediately retreated, her eyes searching his face for any signs of anger. Surprisingly, she found none.
He stared at her with a blank look, then tilted his head. "Are you satisfied now?"
Kiera’s red eyes were drawn to his exposed neck, and her throat tightened with a gulp.
’Control... control... control...’
She closed her eyes and nodded. "Yes, that’s enough."
Kaiser nodded, then walked toward her. He stopped right beside her and said.
"Do not think this is for free. I’ll only allow you to drink if you perform well."
Kiera nodded hurriedly, her heart tightening in fear. He gave her a glance, then headed to the door. Before leaving, he gave one last warning.
"From now on, you are not allowed to drink from any other student. Is that clear?"
Kiera’s eyes widened, mortified.
’He’s making me... totally depend on him?’
