Chapter 154: Case Closed

The next day, the whole of Class-E was relieved to hear that a witness had been found to support Logan. Although they showed genuine happiness for Logan, many were simply relieved that their monthly allowance wouldn’t be reduced. π•—πš›πšŽπšŽπ°π—²π—―π—»πš˜πšŸπšŽπ—Ή.π•”π¨π•ž

Ysabella was disgusted by their fake smiles, but she didn’t express her disgust. Instead, she displayed her own fake smile and congratulated Logan.

Instructor Rina walked in at that moment, a calm expression on her face.

"Good morning, class. We do not have much time to spare since we’re covering a large topic today. Take out your notes and start writing."

Liam blinked in surpriseβ€”not because she seemed hurried, but because she didn’t mention anything about Logan’s case.

"Um... Instructor. Are you aware that we’ve found a witness for Logan?"

Instructor Rina paused and without turning, she answered. "Hazel did message me. However, you all do not need to worry any longer."

"Not worry?" Hazel’s lips curled down in confusion.

"Yes. Those who accused Logan have retracted their complaint. It was all a misunderstanding."

Hearing this, the others were baffled. They had been worried over this matter, and had finally found a solution. However, before they could even get a sense of victory, the accusers retreated.

"Huh... what are they trying to do?"

Hazel whispered to herself, her brows creased. She couldn’t understand the logic behind the motive for this action.

Beside her, Ariel answered flatly. "Don’t you see it? It’s merely a probe. What do you do when a probe fails?"

Hazel glanced at him, thinking about what he had said. "Do you mean they stopped because they noticed we’ve gotten an actual witness?"

On her other side, Kaiser answered. "Hm, right. Getting into a case they’re destined to lose is pointlessβ€”a boring endeavor."

Hazel turned to him, her gaze studying his face. "Is that it? But it seems like there’s a deeper motive."

Kaiser nodded with a light smile. "Nice intuition. Let Ariel do the explanation."

He turned back to the projector, having lost interest in the conversation.

Ariel shook his head in disappointment. "Such a slothful guy."

"Talk. What is it I’m not getting?" Hazel asked sharply.

The long-haired boy rested his left cheek on his palm.

"Just when the class was about to get the feeling of winning a case, they were denied that feeling. How would they react?"

Hazel’s eyes lit up. "It’s like being about to win but then the stage gets destroyed. It would cause disorientation of the subject."

"Exactly. Since they can’t win, they’ll deny you the feeling of winning too." Ariel sighed, then focused on the lesson being taught.

Meanwhile, Hazel thought more deeply. ’This isn’t supposed to be something serious. In fact, it’s a relief. But...’

She looked at the conflicted expressions of her classmates as they listened to Instructor Rina. Even Liam seemed to be affected.

’... on a larger scale, it’ll affect people.’

She sucked in a cold breath.

’What a nicely crafted psychological attack. Who the hell is behind all this?’

.........

Usually, Tuesdays were one of the most stress-free days in the week for Class-E students. However, that was only in their first semester.

In this new semester, that particular day was packed with headache inducing courses and a Combat Training class at the end.

When it was time for the last class of the day, the students were displeased to see Instructor Rina’s face again.

As usual, the Combat Training class was held in a section of the Training Facility dedicated for Class-E.

"Uh... instructor, can’t there be an adjustment to this semester’s time table? I feel like I’m dying."

Eric yawned, his hair dripping with water. He had tried cooling his headache by pouring water, but it barely had any effect.

Instructor Rina didn’t even glance at him. She had them line up in rows of ten, then started.

"In the last semester, I’ve trained you on the creation of nodes and the efficient use of your nodes and affinities."

Liam nodded, followed by the others. After repeated assignments and intense training, each student had nothing less than six nodes each in their bodies.

"This semester, we are focusing on your skill and weapon mastery instead." She continued.

"Excuse me, instructor." Kim raised her hand. "When are we getting to train our abilities?"

Rina turned to her, "It is not the academy’s responsibility to train your ability. We would only provide situations where you can personally train your ability. Or do you expect an instructor to monitor one student at a time?"

The girl shook her head with a bitter smile, making Rina nod.

"Good. Now for this semester’s training, we would be having four more assistant instructors."

Murmurs of surprise spread through the class, and they finally noticed four people dressed in neat tracksuit standing quietly at a lone corner.

Kaiser finally took a look at them, his expression subtle. ’Other members of the Namu Guild? Hoh~ looks like they aren’t joking with this weapon training.’

He was aware of Instructor Rina’s connection to the Namu Guild, and he could see signs of it on those four mysterious personnel.

’Their training would be cumbersome, but it would greatly benefit this classβ€”I can tell.’

The Namu Guild was well respected not just because they were strong, but because they had the most skilled Hunters in different fields of weapon mastery.

Ariel’s eyes narrowed, coming to the same conclusion. ’Instructor Rina must be one of their most skilled scythe users.’

After all, he had seen her fight during their first ever Nirad Raid. Unfortunately, he couldn’t observe for long and had to leave to avoid being detected.

’This doesn’t affect me though. I’ll simply alter my fighting style to make it seem like I’m learning from themβ€”like any normal student would do.’

Having that thought, he took a look at Kaiser, only to find the guy staring at the ceiling and half-heartedly paying attention to Instructor Rina’s words.

’Huh...’

"Now, you all will be dividing yourselves into four groups. Now separate yourselves into these groupsβ€”bladed weapons, polearms, ranged weapons, and blunt weapons. Do that now."

Immediately, the students began moving and dividing themselves according to their weapon choices.
