Extra Demon: Sacred Academy of Light-Chapter 176: Devastation
Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Devastation
He approached and knelt down.
They were two simple actions that seemed to have a profound meaning that he could barely begin to understand.
The fallen one, kneeling, did not say a single word; he simply placed his head on the ash-covered ground and remained in complete silence.
He seemed to have the appearance of a young man —I say "seemed" because of his height, a young man of about 20 years old—, but the wrinkles around his body betrayed him cruelly: a complete old man. He kept his eyes tightly shut and his body trembled a little. He had no wings, or maybe he once had them, because greenish pus kept oozing from his back.
"Disgusting," Elizabeth clicked her tongue. White threads shone and completely shredded the kneeling fallen one. The rotting flesh writhed and slowly began to gather together again.
"Do not pay attention to them, just ignore them," the sixth seraph shook his head and kept walking.
"There is no forgiveness for traitors," Seraphine smiled and turned her gaze toward her daughter: "I keep that in mind, dear."
"Infinite regeneration..." rubbing my chin, I watched as the mass of flesh indeed began to give shape once again to the fallen one with the appearance of an old man. "Trapped for all eternity..." a shiver ran through my body. Shaking my head forcefully, I joined the others ahead.
The fallen one remained silent. He stared at the ground for several long minutes before slowly walking into the unknown, once again...
---
"Weren’t they aggressive?" I asked while looking around. The number of fallen had increased drastically. Although they were at a good distance, they could be seen perfectly. The curious thing is that all of them were walking. Being angels, not a single one was flying. Now that I think about it, for us it’s the same.
"They’re actually calm... in this place, of course. The abyss suppresses a large part of emotions and mentality in an abysmal way. What you see, and what you will see around here, are only the dead in life. All that remains for them is infinite loneliness, sadness, and despair. Of course, this rule breaks once they leave the abyss. Then, all that remains for them is an eternal thirst for blood —whether alive or not, whether the other has suffered the same fate or not," said Elizabeth with a smile.
"Especially for demons. If it weren’t for us, they would’ve already torn you apart and devoured your soul. But you’re also lucky, because of the blue flame that left them in a state of confusion," she shrugged with indifference.
"The hatred of betrayal by their own kind consumes them from within. Knowing that they are in the material world and they themselves are in the abyss for a sin all of them committed makes them perfect machines for total annihilation," said Emilia coldly.
"But in the scale of power..." Arthur was a bit confused. Literally, Heaven and Hell have the 7 seraphim and the 7 sins as the pinnacle of existence.
"That’s not entirely true, but it’s not wrong either," Seraphine shook her head. "The problem comes from the abyss itself: the concept of nothingness," she pointed to the sky. "Absolute nothingness, as law and concept, is deeply rooted in this place. Nothingness is a universal, mysterious, and incomprehensible concept... but it exists. It is the end of everything, and the creation of everything. Between those two concepts, nothingness will always exist, for all of eternity."
"Creation and destruction: creation for the celestials, destruction for the demons, and nothingness for the abyssals. Three concepts, rules, or universal laws. The problem with the abyss is the nothingness for the material. You cannot create it nor destroy it, you can’t do anything... literally. There are ways to counteract nothingness, but not many can do it. Only 14 existences are capable of countering nothingness."
"The 7 seraphim and the 7 sins," Arthur thought to himself. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"The fallen or abyssals, having spent an eternity in this place, have the concept of nothingness embedded in their souls. They are capable of manipulating it and using it for their own benefit. Here, in the abyss, this concept is useless. But in the material dimension, it’s disastrous. To give you an example: a mage casts a water spell, and the moment the mana is about to touch the fallen one, it disappears. The same happens with a sword or any weapon. For them, the concept of matter does not exist, and therefore it cannot harm them. Now an example with a soul attack: the same thing happens, because for them, any soul not rooted in the abyss does not exist. As Emilia said, they are the best creation to bring an end to the dimensions as we know them."
"The rebellion of Lucifer divided the heavens. You would think the celestials remained faithful to God, but that was never the case. 70% of the celestials rebelled, while 30% remained loyal. The disadvantage was enormous for the faithful, but among them were the seraph Michael, the seraph Raphael, the seraph Gabriel, the seraph Metatron, and three Thrones. Under the command of seraph Lucifer was he alone, with four Thrones and the 70% of the traitors. The heavens were dyed red and gold. God, in his final moments, cursed all the traitors, and 40% of them were banished to the abyss, while 30% were sent to Hell. Among that 40% was Lucifer in his final moments and the only surviving Throne: Ezekiel, the accursed," said the sixth seraph with an illusory voice.
"But the heavens didn’t escape unscathed either. Of the 30%, only 10% remained. Among the dead were the 4 seraphim. Luckily, none of the three Thrones died. The same happened with the traitors’ side: Lucifer, just like God, fell into an eternal sleep. Of the four Thrones, only Ezekiel remained. Only 10% of the traitors survived and were banished to Hell, becoming demons. Truly unfortunate. Only 20% survived between the two sides, while 40% were banished to the abyss," said the sixth seraph with a sad smile.
"If the fallen manage to escape the abyss... not even the union of Heaven and Hell could stop them. It would be the end of everything... and the beginning of nothingness. The only thing that would remain would be the presence of the abyss."
