Brandon and Amelia quickly rushed towards the little elven girl, keeping their guards up.

They were unsure if the elf was friend or foe.

But the system clearly told them to save her.

They approached carefully.

Magic swords floated around Amelia, as a crystal sword was clenched in Brandon's hand.

"Nnh."

A strange sound escaped the little elven girl's lips and her brows furrowed.

"Nmh…"

Her body started to twitch and her eyes opened slightly.

It was then.

Her two lilac eyes blinked as she took in the sight of the vicinity.

As soon as their gazes met…

"Hieek—"

She screamed.

She seemed startled, as her body shuddered in fear.

Realizing the little girl was scared, Amelia slowly approached the girl and all the swords around her dematerialized.

"Uhm. We mean no ha—Wait."

Amelia paused.

"Do they even speak english?"

She turned her head back to look at Brandon, and he just shrugged his shoulders.

"…."

Amelia fixed her attention back to the little elven girl.

Oh, no.

A sense of wanting to protect surged within her.

The little girl was shuddering, not just out of fear for them, but from the cold as well.

Realizing the poor girl's current predicament, Amelia slowly took off her fur coat and took careful steps as she approached the girl.

Brandon tilted his head and crossed his arms, curious of Amelia's approach.

The little elven girl seemed to realize what Amelia was doing as she relaxed her body.

It seemed to have been a success as Amelia managed to get close to the little elven girl and drape the fur coat around her.

The elf accepted the offer and clutched the fur coat.

—Unzazahash.

She suddenly spoke.

"….?"

A language, both Amelia and Brandon didn't know.

"Uhm—Hey."

Amelia turned to look at Brandon who looked back at her with his brows raised.

"What?"

"You speak to her. You have a knack for this, right?"

"…."

But truth be told, Brandon was quite puzzled on how he was able to communicate with the goblins.

If it worked with the elves, then it was definitely a game changer.

With such thoughts, Brandon carefully approached them.

"….!"

Once again, the elven girl was startled as her brows furrowed, staring at Brandon.

"Uh… Uzaza?"

Brandon gestured both of his hands as a sign of surrender, speaking in whatever elven language the girl spoke.

The girl's eyes widened and she pursed her lips.

—…Azasawasu?

"…."

Wow.

'Thought they started their words with 'un', like how the goblins start with 'ku'.

How versatile.

"Azashu."

He had no idea what he was talking about.

But it seemed to be working as he had fully caught the little elven girl's attention.

—Rekonsee.

"Razashi."

At this point, he was just speaking whatever comes to mind.

However, there was a certain thought he was trying to get across.

That they meant no harm, and that they wanted to know where the girl came from.

Unlike the goblins, of course, elves were highly intelligent.

He couldn't make up their response as much as he pleased now.

In other words, he couldn't understand what the girl was saying at all.

—Hehe~

The girl suddenly chuckled, covering her mouth.

—Ingreshu?

"Ingreshu… Ah."

English.

"Yes, english."

But how did she know that?

"Can you speak in english?"

—Little.

"…I see."

Brandon looked at Amelia and her eyes seemed to sparkle. Just that look from her told him all she needed to say, 'I want to be the one to communicate this time.'

Brandon chuckled and nodded his head.

Amelia flashed him a warm smile. She turned to look at the girl and the two began to converse.

Brandon left after that and returned to the earth shell where Carl was being held.

He extended his hands forward and the earth shell gradually cracked.

Crack!

The earth shell crumbled and Carl quickly approached Brandon.

"You were so cool!"

"Hehe."

Brandon ruffled the boy's hair, and the two approached Amelia and the little girl.

Scanning, Amelia looked like a mother talking to her daughter.

"What did she tell you?"

Amelia noticed his arrival as she stopped mid conversation and turned to look at Brandon.

She flicked her head back to the little elven girl and she stepped forward.

The elven girl's lips gently parted open and her sweet voice reached Brandon's ears.

"My name, Aurelia."

"Ah. Nice to meet you. My name is Brandon."

"Buh… Ran… Den…?"

"Brandon."

He corrected her.

The little girl seemed to struggle pronouncing his name as she looked like she was about to overload from thinking.

"Uhm. Something like that."

He decided to drop the matter. It wasn't important at all.

"Could you tell us more about you?"

"Oki."

Aurelia nodded her head.

"I am elf."

"…."

Obviously.

"Uhm. Anything more? Like where your home is…?"

"Home…?"

She tilted her head.

It seemed like she didn't know what the word was.

"Home is the place where you feel safe. Where you can be yourself. A comfort zone. A place where you and your family lives."

Aurelia seemed to listen attentively. But listening to him, her expressions suddenly cracked.

"No home."

She shook her head.

"No place."

Brandon exchanged conflicted looks with Amelia and Carl.

From how he could interpret it, Aurelia basically meant she had no place to call home. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

No place where she feels safe.

Several theories started to spark in his mind.

The girl could've been a rare elven race, judging from her appearance. Separated from her people when the calamity struck and all the races descended down on earth.

Or, she could've been a runaway. A child who refused to go back home.

This conjecture arose when he realized the look on Aurelia's face when he mentioned 'family'.

Of course, it could've also meant that her family died. But that shouldn't be a sole reason for the girl to leave her community.

If there actually was an elven community.

That, or she had no memories of a place called home.

It was truly fascinating.

"How come you can speak english?"

It was definitely odd.

"Don't know."

She shook her head.

"I was mess with you first. You speak weird words. But some reason, I understand you."

"…."

"Ingreshu. I don't know. I can speak it."

"I see."

He left it at that.

Either Aurelia was hiding secrets, or she truly didn't know.

Regardless, Brandon decided to drop the matter. If Aurelia was speaking the truth, then only time would tell.

But due to Aurelia's current predicament, his plans to use her as a leverage to meet with the elves weren't possible anymore.

However, there was one more question.

"Crystal."

Aurelia, who seemed to be in deep thought, raised her head as soon as she heard his voice.

Brandon continued.

"Is it your power?"

All of a sudden, Aurelia clasped her hands together and magic energy started to gather around her.

The mana swirled and shortly after…

Cr… Crack!

"…."

A tiny crystal golem suddenly materialized.
