Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 29: Revelation
Chapter 29 - Revelation
Axel was lying on his bed, and that welcome was quite overwhelming for him. He didn't have a chance to have a proper conversation with his father or the butler. He was quite embarrassed for crying like that. His father strangely seemed to be able to understand him, but he didn't know how.
And those words that he said could not help but touch him deeply. After that, this father simply told him to go back to his room and rest, they would talk tomorrow. Axel didn't know if his father knew about his particular ranking; it's possible he did know about it, even if it was unlikely.
When he came to the room and freshened up, Clara came with food. But she ended up crying while hugging him, which ended up triggering his manhood instead, he could barely stop his dick from poking her. It was really hard for him to control his raging hormones when she was such a sexy woman. He glanced downwards and could not help but curse,
'Goddamn it, now this thing stands up just thinking about her, damn it.'
With some reluctance he simply went to sleep. The next day, he was called in his father's office in the morning. He still felt somewhat awkward about what happened yesterday. His father simply smiled towards him and signaled him to sit down.
He stated in a proud tone, "You did well, Axel. Your mother would have been so proud."
Axel's mind shook dangerously for a moment, and his body trembled at the mention of his mother, something that did not escape the eyes of Daniel or Vargas. But they did not question him about it, nor did Axel say anything. His father continued,
"To be able to fend off against 99 others all alone, then fighting an Orc and almost defeating it all alone. It's no small feat, my son. You technically should be ranked 1st, but regardless, it doesn't matter."
"The real ranking would be happening after you enter the academy, and after becoming a Seeker," added Daniel.
"How do you know that Salazar was me?" asked Axel in surprise.
But it was the butler who spoke, "I was in the audience, I noticed it when you entered the flow state and that battle style, how could I not recognize it when I was the one who taught it to you?"
Axel felt panicked for a moment since that meant the butler witnessed his overwhelming physical strength and the fact that Axel did not show his full prowess in the training.
But seeing that the butler or his father did not mention anything about that or question him, he was relieved internally.
But then his father showed him a stupid smirk and said, "In truth, you would've easily been the first to win without those extra 40 kg of weight hanging on you."
Axel's mind went blank for a moment, and he asked, "What do you mean?"
The butler also showed a stupid smirk but did not say anything.
"My son, you have continued to wear 10 kg of weights on all of your hands and feet till now throughout the whole competition," revealed his father as if dropping a bomb with no apparent warning.
Axel remained stupefied for a moment, then abruptly stood up and said, "Impossible, they scanned all of the contestants if there was something on them that could influence the competition, and I definitely.....re..."
But his words abruptly stopped midway as he started to think about when he removed those weights. Yet, he could not remember; he couldn't remember when he had removed those weights. He looked at the two old men with visible shock.
"But I'm not wearing any bracelets either?" asked Axel in a trembling voice.
His father said with a smile, "You may not know, but you're grandfather was the single greatest Runecaster in all of human history. While father here is the greatest alchemist."
The butler interjected, "Alchemist with the greatest talent but not the greatest, not yet."
His father frowned at the butler and shot him an annoyed glance, but did not say anything and continued his explanation, "Think about all those artifacts I gave you. How could we have so many of them? And all those potions?"

"The rune of overweight has been engraved in your very body, it's not an artifact. So, how could they detect it? And you yourself were unaware of it, making it impossible to discover," stated his father in a grand tone.
Axel asked in confusion, "How could I not remember you engraving the rune in my body?"
The butler brought out a black parchment, similar to what was used to make the slave contract, and the old man tore it away. The pieces caught on fire, and texts appeared on the black flame,
[The contract of memory sealing between 'Axel Nomrad' and 'Daniel Nomrad' has been nulled.]
[Unsealing the memories]
[Memories of Axel Nomrad have been unsealed.]
Axel staggered back as his head started aching out of nowhere. The butler promptly grabbed him before he could fall to the floor. Strange scenes flashed through Axel's eyes one after another.
He was still wearing the bracelet, it was probably a week before the competition. He was standing in his father's office. The butler was explaining everything about imprinting a temporary runic overweight on his body that would apply weight to him throughout the competition.
His father assured him that even with that overweight, he could rank within the top 250 with that battle prowess. Axel himself was also sure about it. But he was still afraid, since nothing external was allowed in the competition. But he suddenly remembered about an old-looking Seeker who claimed himself as the greatest Runecaster.
That old man helped The Valkyrie at one point in the novel, giving her a permanent rune engraving that boosted a certain power of her permanently. So, his grandfather was still alive, most likely. Only then did he agree to it.
With the help of the Prime Nexus they established a contract of his memory sealing. It was something necessary to fool the technology. If Axel himself was aware of the fact that he was cheating then it wouldn't work.
Axel abruptly opened his eyes and gasped for breath, The butler handed him a glass of water to drink. He drank the water as his headache slowly receded. His father asked with a smile, "I guess the memories are back?"
There were strange runes on his body that were glowing in a slightly whitish color on both his wrists and his feet. "Yes, and these things are temporary?"
His father replied, "Obviously. Except for your grandfather. No one else can engrave permanent runes. And I know you might want to know what happened to him, or what runes even mean, or what a Runecaster is. But I can't tell you that information. You will know that in the academy. So, save those questions."
Axel nodded, he already knew that information related to Seeker's was forbidden to be mentioned. Maybe only the heirs of the highest echelons could know somethings about it. But even those were no significant information.
He asked something else, "At that time, you tore up four strange yellow parchments, then each of those runes slowly appeared on my limbs. Were they left behind by grandfather?"
"Yes. There was no one else except your grandfather who could create those. Engraving runes on living beings without any major repercussions is something only he could do. It wouldn't be wrong to say he was a pioneer in that particular field," stated his Father.
"These runes would still last for another 3 weeks or more. You have a month until the academy starts. Continue to train. It is time you took things up a notch. Entering the academy is merely the start, not the finish, and it won't be easy. It will only continue to be harder," stated his father.
