Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 235: Forgiveness
Chapter 235: Forgiveness
"You and my brother are divorced now."
Ella’s voice rang out the moment Serena stepped into the breakfast room. The words hit like a slap, sharp and unprovoked. Serena stopped, her hand still on the back of the chair, and raised her eyebrows.
Ella hadn’t spoken to her since Serena moved back to the Hawk residence. Nathan had said Ella was avoiding her out of guilt, but as Serena sat down at the table across from her, there wasn’t a trace of guilt on Ella’s face. Instead, her expression was icy, her lips pressed tight.
Serena studied her for a moment, trying to understand the change. Ella had always been warm in the past, welcoming her with open arms. Now, her hostility was unmistakable. The shift felt jarring, and Serena couldn’t help but wonder why Ella was behaving this way.
Even more annoying was the way Ella looked at her—like she was the one who had done something wrong. Really? After everything? Serena swallowed her irritation. Ella had no right to act like the victim, not after what she had done.
Serena leaned back in her chair and shrugged. "Yes, I know that. But thanks for reminding me," she said, keeping her tone calm.
Ella’s glare only grew colder. "You have no right to be here. To be living with Aiden."
Serena sighed and shrugged again, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. She’d expected awkwardness, not an outright attack. At this rate, she’d end up with stiff shoulders. "Okay," she said, folding her hands neatly on the table. "Since you’re in the mood to point out obvious facts, let me return the favor. We don’t live in Victorian times anymore. It’s perfectly normal for two adults to live together before marriage."
Her tone was light, but her words carried an edge. Ella had crossed a line, and Serena wasn’t about to let her get away with it. She tilted her head and gave Ella a thin smile. "And honestly, who gave you the authority to decide who can or can’t live here?"
Ella shifted in her chair, her eyes narrowing as if she wanted to argue further. For a brief moment, Serena thought she saw a flicker of surprise on Ella’s face, but it was quickly masked by another glare. She was not expecting Serena to snap back at her.
If Ella wanted to fight, she could. Serena wasn’t afraid of her.
Ella straightened in her seat, her glare sharpening as she folded her arms. "I’m saying this for Aiden’s sake. You’re not good for him, Serena."
Serena’s eyebrows shot up, and she couldn’t stop the short laugh that escaped her. "Wow. That’s bold, Ella. Care to explain why you think that?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
"I just do. Because of you, he is not talking to his father. He had even pushed me away. And because of your chaos, he had to endanger his life! Don’t think I don’t know the divorce was your plan. So, you can divorce him when you want and then get back together with him? He is there for you like a wall to lean on. But what about you? How have you helped him? How have you proven yourself to be worthy of him? You even had a relationship with Sidney whom he hates!"
Serena’s chest tightened, but she refused to let Ella know how her words affected her. Yes, she had not been able to do anything for him. But the other accusations, they were not fair. She was not the one who asked Charles Hawk to conspire against Aiden. But for now, she was not going to explain anything to this girl.
Instead, she leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table, her tone calm but cutting. "You mean the Sidney you have a crush on? Because, last I checked, you were the one who sent me packing to him, remember? Or do you want to pretend that didn’t happen?"
"Of course I am not pretending anything. I hope that you would have stayed with him. Instead of coming back here. Aiden is better off without you."
"I think you should let Aiden be the judge of that." Nathan cut in as he entered the room, earning a glare from Ella who snorted and pointed a finger at Nathan," And him! He used to hate Aiden and you. But see now? Here he is defendng you and Aiden. What did you do? You’ve even seduced him."
"That is enough." Serena ground out and stood up, "If you want to vomit, go to the toilet, Ella. I’ll be leaving now."
With that, Serena walked out of the room without a backward glance.
"What is wrong with you, Ella? Why are you behaving out of character like this? I thought you were feeling guilty. But this..."
Ella frowned and shook her head,"Guilty? For what? She is fine, isn’t she? And back in his life. I don’t like her. I am not the one who changed. It was you and Aiden. Before she came into our lives, I kept trying to bridge the gap between you two, but what did you two do? Ignore me. And then suddenly she does something one day and you turn into Aiden’s biggest supporter. He forgives you all the past mistakes but at the same time he turns against me."
"He cut me off because of her. He banned my coming back to the house. Do you really think I should still welcome her with open arms?"
"Yes. Because you are being foolish. He cut you off because you refused to understand your mistake. And he never stopped you from returning! That was your own condition that you would return when father did. He just did not agree. And Ella, despite you thinking that we didn’t care for you, me and Aiden have both love you. For everything you’ve done and even now. Don’t be a fool now, okay? There’s still time. Don’t take the foolish paths our parents took."
Ella looked away before standing up and walking away, unwilling to listen to Nathan anymore.
