First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 2062 - An Encirclement at Ancient God Ridge
Chapter 2062 - An Encirclement at Ancient God Ridge
The Kingdom of Lasting Light was enormous, like a boundless, self-contained world.
But as enormous as it was, when the battle at Falling Cloud Lake began, the resulting disturbance meant that everyone throughout the kingdom was immediately paying attention.
Because this was a battle of gods, and not a small one, either. Even just the divine majesty emanating from the combatants was enough to alert the gods spread throughout the kingdom.
Thus, lots of people watched as Su Yi broke free of his encirclement and fled Falling Cloud Lake.
“Hurry up and stop him!” someone bellowed, and a full five gods took to the air and tried to intercept Su Yi. They’d been hidden around Falling Cloud Lake earlier, and thus, they reacted immediately.
“Die!” They attacked valiantly, giving it their all.
Boom!
The sky exploded, and divine radiance swept outward. A steak of sword light whooshed past, leaving a bloody gash in the sky.
By the time the sword light faded, three of the five gods were dead, and the remaining two were injured!
All of it happened the moment they crossed paths with Su Yi. None of them could block the Sword of Proximity’s power. It tore apart their defenses as if they were made of paper!
“This...” Countless onlookers near Falling Cloud Lake gaped in shock and horror. The attempt to intercept Su Yi had broken instantly, and three gods had lost their lives in the process!
Moreover, there was now no sign of Su Yi.
Su Yi raced ahead, leaving them far behind. However, moments later, a gray-robed man with blood-colored hair appeared out of nowhere to block his path.
“Please wait, sir!” said the man with blood-colored hair. “I can help you escape your enemies’ pursuit!”
Boom!
The only response he got was a streak of forceful, tyrannical sword qi. It extended across thirty thousand feet of sky and fell like the rivers of heaven bursting through a dam and crashing onto the world below.
The man’s pupils constricted, and he fought back with all his might.
Clang!!!
A black spear blocked this slash, only for the sword to erupt with terrifying power. The man with blood-colored hair was sent flying, and he slammed ruthlessly to the ground.
Su Yi, meanwhile, had already shot off.
It was just as Buddhist Venerate Ghama and the others thought. He was indeed headed for Ancient God Ridge.
He’d learned its precise location from the Epoch Spark’s energy fluctuations during the earlier battle, and he could say with certainty that that was where he’d find the entrance to the Path of the Ancient Gods!
He wasn’t the least bit concerned with the inevitable attempts at interception he’d face along the way, and he didn’t care whether they had good intentions or ill.
So long as he reached the Path of the Ancient Gods, none of the dangers waiting for him in the Kingdom of Lasting Light could touch him.
Before long, Su Yi had vanished without a trace.
The man with the blood-colored hair returned to the skies with a dark scowl. He glared in the direction Su Yi had vanished in, dense killing intent on his brow.
He glowered sinisterly and crushed a talisman. “You refuse to cooperate with us? Alright then, you’re doomed!”
......
Meanwhile, word spread throughout the Kingdom of Lasting Light.
“Hurry! Li Fuyou’s reincarnation has appeared, and he’s on his way to Ancient God Ridge!”
“Inform the High Elder! Tell him to intercept Su Yi there!”
“We absolutely cannot let him bring the Epoch Spark into the Path of the Ancient Gods!”
......Of late, too many deities to count had gathered in the Kingdom of Lasting Light. Most were from prominent factions of the God Domain.
When word spread that Su Yi was on his way to Ancient God Ridge, it shook the entire Kingdom of Lasting Light, and the various camps of gods took action, one after another.
Inside a black hall.
“Ghama got complacent this time,” said a youthful monk. He had a lotus mark on his forehead, and he gripped a string of prayer beads. His clothing was plain and simple, and he had robust features with eyes as clear as water and as tranquil as the bottom of an ancient well.
“Word spread from Falling Cloud Lake. Ghama, as the foremost of the Nine Great Heavenly Gods of the Kingdom of Lasting Light, should have had the initiative. He could have captured that heretic, but now... that advantage has slipped through his fingers.” The young monk sighed. “Now, every faction here knows that the heretic is headed for Ancient God Ridge. Who knows how much competition we’ll have to overcome to capture him alive?”
An old monk sat in the shadows nearby. “The heretic controls both the power of reincarnation and the Epoch Spark. Furthermore, he has both Li Fuyou and Yi Daoxuan’s Dao Imprints. Someone like him isn’t so easily killed.”
The young monk froze, then fell silent.
The old monk emerged from the shadows and said slowly, “Let’s go. It's time to see our old friends, and while we’re at it, let’s see how many waves that heretic can stir up this time.”
With that, he walked toward the exit. It was unclear when, but a bronze lamp had appeared in his palm. It emanated an undying aura, and its light seemed eternal.
The young monk hurried after him.
......
Ancient God Ridge, an ancient mountain range shrouded in inscrutable mists.
Here in the Kingdom of Lasting Light, this place was a forbidden zone. None dared venture here, not even the Nine Great Heavenly Gods.
This was because the ancient mountain range was covered in turbulent spacetime power. Even gods could easily get lost here, trapped amidst turbulent spacetime, never to find the path home!
Throughout the ages, there had been rumors that the entrance to the Path of the Ancient Gods lay in these very mountains.
When Su Yi saw the mountains in the distance, he clearly sensed that the Epoch Spark inside him grew lively and excited, and it produced a strange rhythmic fluctuation.
Like a wandering son who’d finally returned to his old home!
Just as I thought. Only someone with the Epoch Spark can find the true entrance to the Path of the Ancient Gods. Only then can this path, long thought to exist only in rumors, reappear in this world, thought Su Yi.
On the way here, Su Yi had faced repeated attempts at interception, but he’d broken past all of them. There’d been a few close calls, but he’d ultimately emerged unscathed.
But now, even though he would soon reach the ridge, his footsteps slowed. Instinct told him that numerous dangers lay in wait.
“That heretic is here!” someone bellowed, breaking the silence. Divine light spread throughout the distant skies, and a group of gods appeared.
There were more than ten of them, and their leader was a Fortune Realm Greater God!
Su Yi scanned the group. One look at their clothing, and he knew they were from Endless Transformations Divine Mountain, a peak orthodoxy of the God Domain.
It had been founded by Divine Venerate Tian Huang.
He was one of the Master Gods who’d sent his avatar to the Epoch Battlefield, and Jin Zhuliu, one of the divine children who’d died by Su Yi’s hand, had been his descendant.
“Su Yi, we’ve been waiting for you here a long time.”
A cold, indifferent voice resounded from another direction.
A streak of divine light appeared accompanying it, then shot into the air. Yet another powerful lineup of gods appeared, all of them seething with murderous intent.
These were experts from the Divine Court of Providence, the faction founded by the Angler, Old Man Providence!
Su Yi narrowed his eyes. There are almost certainly numerous other similar groups hidden nearby.
Indeed, he’d only just thought this when a similar disturbance arose in another direction.
Boom!
Around a dozen gods appeared out of nowhere with a flash of golden light, men and women all clad in Daoist robes.
These were experts of the Three Purities Daoist Court.
Whoosh~!
A massive scroll painting unfurled in midair. Moments later, yet another group of deities emerged from the painting.
These were deities of the Yao Path, and they hailed from the Nine Profundities Yao Court.
Boom!
A white bone tower appeared out of nowhere, emanating dense demonic qi and churning blood-red light. Soon, a group of Demonist deities emerged from within.
...Within just a few blinks of an eye, one powerful group of gods after another appeared. All of them hailed from different orthodoxies.
Their divine majesty alone was enough to plunge the entire stretch of heaven and earth into upheaval, and their collective murderous intent soared into the firmament.
Su Yi, standing there all by himself, seemed jarringly out of place.
He recognized almost none of these gods, but thanks to Li Fuyou’s memories and experiences, he could discern their origins based on their auras, appearances, and attire.
There was no denying it; they’d obviously been preparing for this for a long time. Practically every camp had a Fortune Realm Greater God overseeing things!
Such gatherings of gods were rare even in the God Domain, let alone in the River of Epochs. They were typically only seen in special places like the Boundless Battlefield and the Nine Heavens Cloud Realm.
Yet now, all of these gods of different camps had come here from the God Domain, and all of them were after the same person!
Su Yi stood there in midair, took out a jug of wine, and had a sip. He knew that he might well be in for a fierce, unpredictable, drawn-out battle.
But at least for now, he wasn’t afraid of anything. Fear wouldn’t do him any good, anyway.
“Su Yi!” bellowed an old Daoist of the Three Purities Daoist Court, his voice booming like a thunderclap throughout heaven and earth.
But before he could continue, Su Yi raised his finger to his lips and said, “Shh, don’t talk yet. Let’s wait a while longer.”
“???” The crowd didn’t know what to make out of this. Anyone else would have been terrified and ill at ease when surrounded by so many deities of top orthodoxies, but not Su Yi.
He wasn’t just calm. He was downright composed and fearless!
“The heretic is right. Many of our fellows are on their way here. After all, ‘the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.’ We cannot rush. If we do, we risk the latecomers stealing our prize,” boomed a calm, dignified voice.
“Well said. We needn’t rush. It remains to be seen just who will bag the prized deer,” said a voice as mellow as a spring breeze.
“Don’t forget that last time, in the Immortal Realm’s Epoch Battlefield, that boy turned the tides on us. This time... we cannot allow a repeat incident!”
“This is different from last time. Then, the Epoch Battlefield limited our avatars of will’s power. We could only use the power of a Lesser God, but now, there are no such restrictions!"
“I just don’t know whether any unexpected old friends will appear or not. I’m very much looking forward to it.”
...These conversations resounded throughout the foot of Ancient God Ridge.
But when people looked over, they only saw that mysterious divine radiance had enveloped the entire area. It was indistinct, but around ten figures were dimly discernable amidst the radiance.
But even after hearing these conversations, the gods of the various camps dared not take action recklessly. They just stood there, ready for battle.
The only difference was that their eyes and auras were locked onto Su Yi, as if they were concerned that he’d try to flee.
Su Yi didn’t run. Instead, he threw back his head, drank, and gazed at the foot of the mountain.
The figures there were indistinct, but Su Yi could hear their voices, and he instantly figured out who they were.
Old Man Providence, Master God Tian Huang, the Rahu Yao Ancestor, Wenren Qin, and Master God Yun He of the Three Purities Daoist Court, among others.
These old-timers’ avatars of will had appeared in the Immortal Realm’s Epoch Battlefield. Of course Su Yi recognized them!
Moreover, now that he had Li Fuyou’s experiences and memories, Su Yi didn’t even need to think to know why these old-timers viewed him with such enmity.
Ultimately, it was because these were Li Fuyou’s old enemies, and they’d waged war against Li Fuyou on the Epoch Battlefield for years!
They’re using divine treasures to obscure their presences. It seems their avatars of will are threatened by the River of Epochs, and they dare not reveal their divine majesty lightly.
Su Yi’s thoughts raced.
The River of Epochs was unique in that the higher a god’s cultivation, the greater the restrictions and backlash they suffered here.
Thus, Master Gods dared not come in person. They could only send their avatars of will in their stead.
But unlike the Immortal Realm’s Epoch Battlefield, here in the Kingdom of Lasting Light, the Master Gods’ avatars of will were no longer suppressed, and they could display terrifying power.
Their power was enough to strike terror into the hearts of even Greater Gods!
The Master Gods’ avatars of will might well suffer a backlash if they went all out, but that didn’t matter. They were just avatars; even if they were destroyed, their true bodies would be unaffected.
Just as Su Yi was pondering, an aged voice resounded in the distance.
“I’ve kept you waiting.”
Numerous gazes instantly turned in its direction.
