Flash Marriage, Deep Love-Chapter 174 Letting Go (3)
Chapter 174: Chapter 174 Letting Go (3)
"I actually wanted to stay in there for a few more days. I’ve never experienced being in a jail cell before."
Is he out of his mind or something?
What sane person wants to experience being in a jail cell?
"If you wanted to stay in jail, you shouldn’t have just beaten up Han Xiujie and Song Guotao. You should’ve beaten up the cops who arrested you too. That way, you could’ve stayed even longer!" Mi Wan said irritably.
"I did think about it, but I’m a kind person. I can’t bring myself to hurt innocent people." In other words, Han Xiujie and Song Guotao totally deserved their beatings. The cause of today’s events actually started from this morning.
Early this morning, Han Bin woke up feeling a bit depressed. He tossed and turned in bed for quite a while before deciding he needed to vent his frustrations. The thought that scumbags Han Xiujie and Song Guotao were still living comfortably in Jin City only made him angrier. The more he thought about it, the more he felt they couldn’t have a peaceful Chinese New Year this year. So first, Han Bin went to the hospital and beat up Song Guotao, then he went to Han Xiujie’s company and gave him a good thrashing too.
Maybe Han Xiujie had a bit of a conscience because no matter how hard Han Bin hit him, he didn’t fight back. Finally, one of his coworkers couldn’t stand it anymore and called the police. When Han Bin was taken to the police station, he found out that scumbag Song Guotao had also called the police, which made him regret not punching that scumbag a few more times!
After that, Han Bin was interrogated, but he was in a bad mood and didn’t want to deal with the grim-faced police officers. So he just gave them a phone number, saying his cousin is a lawyer and they should talk to her about everything. He acted so arrogant that he told the officers not to bother him!
In the end, the officers couldn’t do anything with him and had to call Mi Wan to come and get him.
Walking out of the police station, Han Bin got into Mi Wan’s car and suddenly became strangely quiet, almost like a different person.
"I heard from Jingjing that you invited the couple out for dinner the night before last?" Not used to Han Bin being so quiet, Mi Wan took the initiative to start a conversation with him.
"Yeah." Knowing Mi Jing would tell Mi Wan everything, Han Bin’s reaction was very calm when she brought it up.
"What’s with the poker face? After meeting Shen Lingxing, did you feel devastated and inferior?"
"Devastated? Inferior? Sis, I’ll just take that as a bad joke." Han Bin glared at Mi Wan, then raised one leg over the other and said arrogantly, "Actually, I can’t deny that Shen Lingxing has good qualities, but compared to me, he’s still lacking."
Mi Wan seemed amused by Han Bin’s words, smiled softly, and said, "Are you going to say that Jingjing doesn’t like you because she has poor taste?"
"Isn’t that obvious?" Han Bin raised an eyebrow cockily, half-jokingly saying, "If she had good taste and you were willing to help me, I might have already gotten what I wanted."
"Ha, did it ever occur to you that maybe you don’t have enough charm?" Mi Wan knew Han Bin wasn’t sensitive, so she had no reservations about saying something sharp like that.
"If someone like me isn’t charming, how are other men supposed to live?" Han Bin vainly flicked his hair; his snobbish behavior actually added some credibility to his words.
Mi Wan chuckled softly and said, "It’s good that you’re still so confident, but feelings can’t be forced. You’ve tried your best, and I’ve helped you too. Things have turned out the way they are now, so you should let it go."
"When have you ever helped me?" Han Bin patiently listened to Mi Wan finish her piece, then questioned her.
He remembered clearly that the day before he started college, he had a private conversation with Mi Wan, confessing all his feelings to her, hoping she would help him pursue Mi Jing. But she didn’t even consider it; she directly rejected his request and warned him not to let Mi Jing know his feelings or let her sense anything.
He could still vividly recall her severe and heartless demeanor that day, and he felt a twinge of resentment.
"I helped you before you even confessed to me. You just never knew." Mi Wan said.
"Why didn’t you tell me? Do you know I almost turned against you then!"
"What good would it have done? Would you have given up? I was worried you would be too impulsive and make Jingjing feel awkward." Recalling the past, Mi Wan’s voice was as gentle as a babbling brook. "I asked Jingjing more than once how she felt about you. She always only saw you as a brother. When she was a first-year high school student, I even lied to her, saying you weren’t Aunt’s biological son. Even without the concern of a blood relation, her feelings for you didn’t change a bit. That’s why I stopped you from confessing. Also, the lie I told her remains uncorrected; she probably still believes you’re not Aunt’s biological son."
Listening to Mi Wan say this, Han Bin couldn’t help but smile bitterly. After all this, how could he not give up? Ah, Mi Wan really went to great lengths for him!
"Sis, thank you." If not for her intervention back then, perhaps his and Mi Jing’s harmonious relationship since childhood would have crumbled. Thinking of this, Han Bin’s gratitude toward Mi Wan overflowed like a fountain. He immediately extended his long arms and hugged Mi Wan.
"Alright, I’ve received your thanks. Now let go, I’m driving." Mi Wan couldn’t take Han Bin clinging to her like a koala bear, so she said with a hint of disdain.
Han Bin had no interest in staying a koala bear either. He quickly let go, as if nothing had happened, and calmly looked out the window.
After dropping Han Bin off at his car, it was almost lunchtime. Mi Wan called Ji Dongquan, then went to the supermarket, bought some groceries and household items, and headed straight to Ji Dongquan’s house.
Everyone in Ji Dongquan’s house was male – several bodyguards, a housekeeper, and a little boy named He Zerui. Because of his special circumstances, He Zerui mostly stayed at home and rarely went out. As a result, Mi Wan felt more compassion and love for him.
"Aunt Wanwan, are the things you’re carrying heavy? How about I help you?" Seeing Mi Wan arrive, He Zerui quickly switched his computer screen from a complex display to a simple children’s game page in a split second. He then stood up, ran over to Mi Wan, and made a pretense of wanting to help her carry the shopping bags.
"No, they’re not heavy."
Though Mi Wan said that, she didn’t refuse He Zerui’s help. Soon, the shopping bags were in He Zerui’s hands. Feeling her hands free, Mi Wan lovingly patted He Zerui’s head, then glanced at the laptop on the table. As they walked to the kitchen, she asked, "Were you playing computer games?"
