Forgotten Love: Mr. President, Mrs. Fordham Has Rejected You!-Chapter 157: His Birthday Farewell Party
In the secret room of a luxury villa in Mardale.
A woman was tightly bound to a cold iron chair, a cloth stuffed in her mouth, whimpering as she struggled continuously. Her wrists and ankles had already been abraded to the point of bleeding by the coarse ropes.
The door creaked open.
Zane Zimmerman entered, wearing a mask, exuding a suffocating chill.
With just one look from him, two other tall men with identical physiques and masks followed him in.
If you didn’t look closely, it would be hard to tell which one was the real Zane Zimmerman.
Zeno West’s already fearful eyes widened suddenly as she saw who it was, her pupils contracting sharply, and her struggle became more intense.
Zane’s tone was bone-chillingly cold, "Miss West, I’ll have my men accompany you for three more days."
"If you still won’t reveal the dagger’s whereabouts, you can go down and keep your brother company." After a pause, he added, "You know there’s something called cloning technology in this world."
Indeed, he had already found an image of the dagger and could make a fake one to take over Mardale.
Who would dare to question whether the dagger was real?
Like this, Zeno’s existence became less valuable.
Zeno struggled violently, letting out beast-like whimpers, trying to say something.
Zane lit a cigarette, speaking slowly, "We’ve already found the treasury. I never thought that Cillian West hid all those treasures in every brick of the building. The hundred-thousand-square-foot Los Castle is practically a golden palace."
He noticed something was off because last time, a small explosion occurred at the castle, but overnight, it was repaired.
What made Cillian rush back to Mardale non-stop.
So, Zane had someone break open the exploded section, revealing gold hidden in the bricks, gleaming fiercely.
Zeno’s beautiful eyes were filled with despair; her bargaining chips were completely gone.
But she was unwilling, her eyes still held a barely noticeable question.
Zane’s cold, thin lips parted, each word cutting like a knife, "Blame yourself for having thoughts you shouldn’t have and for touching people you shouldn’t touch."
"When did you think you could lay a finger on the treasure I hold dearly?"
His voice suddenly rose, filled with bloodthirsty madness: "If her child can’t be saved, I’ll make your Weston Family disappear from this world forever!"
"You’d better pray that she’s alright."
With that, Zane turned and walked out without looking back, the door to the secret room slamming shut behind him as the two men approached her.
Indeed, the one who had once had an affair with Zeno wasn’t the real Zane Zimmerman.
It was only that one time that he personally carried her into the car and sent her back.
This man, decisive and ruthless, fell for Vivi Sterling, treating her like a priceless treasure.
Because, she had watched him for two years in Meritopia, and he would always be her number 17... And she was also Tyson Sterling’s sister.
The next day, Stella Grant woke up, her head still a bit groggy.
She found herself lying on a soft, large bed, a bit dazed.
She was clearly in the laboratory, how could she be...
"Knock knock." Aiden Fordham knocked and came in, carrying a tray with steaming soup and several delicate snacks on it.
His hands were still wrapped in thick bandages, yet he moved with great ease.
He walked to the bedside, his voice so gentle it felt like it could drip water, "Awake? Freshen up a bit and have something to eat, okay?"
She nodded, lifting the covers to get up and walking into the bathroom to freshen up.
When she came out, Aiden was already holding a small spoon, gently stirring the bowl of soup, the steam carrying the aroma of food.
"Come, sit here." He patted the edge of the bed.
She obediently sat on the bed, instinctively reaching out to take the bowl of soup.
Both of her hands were wrapped in bandages, and the new injury from yesterday tugged painfully with any slight movement.
"Open your mouth." Aiden ordered, his tone irresistibly soft.
She instinctively opened her mouth.
He fed her spoonful by spoonful, careful not to burn her.
Watching their hands, both wrapped in bandages, four white paws waving in front of her, Stella suddenly burst into laughter.
"What are you laughing at?" Aiden paused, looking at her.
Stella raised her hands and pointed at his, "Look, we now have four bear paws, you have two, I have two, truly sharing the same fate!"
Seeing her joking, Aiden’s tense heartstrings eased slightly, after a night of tightness.
He remembered how difficult it felt when he woke in the middle of the night, finding her in the lab.
She had been sitting on the floor, leaning against a cabinet, asleep with long lashes still wet with tears... Instantly, his heart ached.
After the soup, Aiden patiently fed her a few crystal shrimp dumplings before personally escorting her to the lab.
At the laboratory entrance, he gently held her shoulders, lowering his head to plant a gentle kiss on her smooth forehead.
Then, staring into her eyes, he said: "I’ll come pick you up at seven tonight."
"Where to?" She was a bit puzzled.
"Spend my birthday with me." He chuckled, though his eyes held unfathomable depths, "You’ve celebrated it twice, can’t I just once?"
"But your birthday hasn’t arrived." She cautiously replied.
He looked at her calmly, "I want to celebrate it while I can still see you."
Yes, according to the doctor, perhaps by tomorrow, he wouldn’t be able to see anything.
This might be the last night he can clearly see this world.
Stella’s heart clenched suddenly, as if something was fiercely twisting it, a stuffy ache.
"Okay!" She nodded, forcing a smile.
Then she quickly turned and walked inside, not daring to let him see her reddened eyes.
She spent the whole day in the lab.
Stella and all the doctors worked tirelessly, sleeping and eating little.
Three attempts were made, yet the second version of the antidote still couldn’t succeed.
The final version, with perfect ratios and data,
However, when given to the experimental mice, the mice convulsed and still died of poisoning.
Indeed, the poison from the seven-color brocade was too potent and ferocious.
And Stella’s blood, though special, was too weak, unable to completely suppress such powerful toxicity.
The lab grew silent, everyone a bit disheartened.
Stella took a deep breath, clapping her hands to encourage everyone, "Thank you all for your hard work. Let’s stop here for today. We’ll continue tomorrow. We can do it!"
Iris Summers came over and patted her shoulder, "Boss, we’ll definitely make it! I’ve sent the latest data back to the main lab. They’re also speeding up the research over there."
Leo Lynch also came over, saying, "Stella, I’m with you."
They were all there to help, not daring to add any more trouble, working diligently in the lab all the time.
Stella nodded, feeling somewhat reassured.
Then, Keegan Lindsey came over and loudly addressed everyone:
"Thank you, doctors! Tonight, President Fordham has specially prepared a lavish banquet to reward you for all your hard work over these days. The car is already waiting outside. Please follow me."
Everyone’s spirits lifted, packing up and getting ready to leave.
Stella followed them out.
But Keegan walked briskly to block her, lowering his voice to whisper: "Ma’am, your dinner is at the main villa. President Fordham prepared it himself, different from theirs."
Stella nodded, turning to head towards the main villa.
Her heart still weighed down, her mind filled with thoughts of formulas and data, heavy.
After tonight, only three days remained; she was afraid inside.
Upon entering the hall, Stella was startled, her steps frozen in place.
The extravagant setup left her speechless; she wondered if she had walked into a wedding ceremony...
Unaware, tonight was about to change her life’s trajectory again.
She and he would be entwined forever...
