From Imp to Demon God: Conquering the Demon World With a Succubus-Chapter 37: Full Of Surprises
It took ten minutes before Myles finally sprinted with the Bloodfade Step active. He tried to maneuver around the Commander and attacked him, but he always failed, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.
Finally, Myles halted and measured the amount of demonic energy he spent.
It’s only a quarter. It really doesn’t consume much demonic energy.
The Commander said, "Ten minutes, huh? I recalled I also only lasted ten full minutes of keeping the Bloodfade Step active when I was at the same rank as you."
Myles was utterly surprised.
He stared at the Commander in silence.
"Why are you surprised? Even if you have a noble bloodline out of sheer luck, your core’s quality shouldn’t be higher than mine."
Myles was speechless.
He thought. Is it because my core has an ancient demon bloodline?
In the end, Myles nodded. "I see. I wish to reach the same rank as you and defeat you one day."
The Commander exploded into a hoot of laughter.
He said, "I’m looking forward to it."
Afterwards, the Commander pondered for a while and asked, "Do you still wish to learn the Scarlet Slip? You have to slit your skin in the first place and have to pass through your armor. Although your armor contains the Law of Blood, it wouldn’t be counted as your blood."
Myles shrugged. "Who knows? It might come in handy."
The Commander nodded. "Aright. It’s very much simple, really. The Scarlet Slip only requires you to liquify your body into blood and synchronize it with your nearby blood. In fact, it might be impossible for you to liquify your whole body into blood at your current rank... synchronizing with distant blood at that."
Myles didn’t mind the Commander’s skepticism towards him.
He asked, "In the first place, how do I synchronize my blood to my nearby blood?"
"It’s simple. You just have to use your demonic energy. Just look at the object from a distance, concentrate deeply, and control your demonic energy from inside your body until the outside as best as you can."
Myles ruminated deeply and finally understood why the Commander didn’t prefer using the second step. The biggest flaw was the difficulty of its execution.
Obviously, when he was learning this step, his demonic core was unable to keep up with the consumption to execute it. No wonder, he hates it. The distance the Scarlet Slip covers depends on the efficiency of the demonic energy, as well as its quantity and quality.
Myles nodded at the Commander and said, "I see. No wonder you don’t prefer using this step."
The Commander nodded. "Exactly.
Although this step exists for a reason and it’s definitely one of the deadly steps in assassination, there are four steps to master at, and it’s the least step I have practiced the most."
Myles nodded. "I understand."
The Commander said, "As for the third step, Vein Breaker Dash, the execution is pretty much straight forward. Like I said, you just have to overclock the blood pressure in your legs. I mean, properly enhance your legs with demonic energy and the blood circulation to explode your speed.
As for leaving after-images, the moment you finish enhancing your legs and then sprint forward, you have to spread your demonic energy to your whole body and release a blood vapor, leaving behind images one after another."
Myles furrowed his eyebrows.
"Blood vapor?"
"Mhm. The moment the demonic energy, which turned into blood, moved outside of your body, it would instantly vaporize and leave an afterimage similar to you. Though it wouldn’t be as accurate as before."
"I see. I understand it now."
The Commander was about to continue to the fourth step, knowing that Myles already depleted his demonic core, when Myles suddenly practiced the third step to a nearby tree.
Although the distance was closer and the speed was nothing impressive compared to him, Myles was able to properly execute it at his current rank.
Myles left afterimages, but there were only four of them. It didn’t even reach the tree. Furthermore, the delay of afterimages and Myles’ speed was only one and a half second.
However, the fact that Myles executed the third step on his first try, with supposedly depleted demonic energy, flabbergasted him.
How is this hybrid able to achieve it?
He was infuriated. Not because Myles’ potential surprised him again, but how he jeopardized himself by overexerting his demonic core.
He glanced at Myles whose right arm was stuck against the massive tree he penetrated with his fist, attempting to pull it ceaselessly.
He suddenly arrived beside him and was about to say something when Myles successfully pulled his right arm and heaved a sigh of relief.
He scrutinized Myles for a while, until Myles finally realized the Commander was standing beside him, giving him a great shock.
He stepped back away from the Commander and said, "Commander, you should avoid surprising me again and again. No, you’re not surprising me, you’re scaring me."
The Commander asked in a stern voice, "How do you feel now? Check your core if it’s still intact."
Myles frowned. Instead of following his words, he pondered why his Commander was acting strangely.
His eyes widened. I forgot he actually thought my demonic core was already depleted with demonic energy. I got careless, I got too excited to try the third step.
He coughed and explained, "You assumed earlier that my demonic core was already depleted. In fact, it did not. I still have more left. When you were explaining the third step, I checked and it already has half demonic energy, so I tried executing the third step. Of course, I didn’t completely consume all my demonic energy. I’m aware of the consequences."
The Commander was stunned. He did not expect that Myles has a demonic core with the same quality as demon nobles.
He was speechless.
After a while, he said, "I don’t know what to say. You keep surprising me. I just hope that whatever I learn isn’t just a deception."
Myles instantly replied, "Don’t worry, Commander. I have not deceived anyone."
The Commander laughed. Myles also laughed.
The Commander would never believe Myles had never deceived anyone in his entire life.
