Full-Time Public Enemy-Chapter 691 - 503: [The Steal Fire Plan]_3
The luminous grids of the "[Rat Cage]" operated on an unknown principle. However, after testing it himself, Chen Gu confirmed that the limitation targeted the professional directly, not their skills, rendering them unable to use their abilities.
However, abilities pre-stored in the "[Secret Nest]" were not activated by the professionals themselves and could thus bypass this limitation.
Chen Gu and Balermo retreated to their previous position. From there, they observed the corridor ahead, engulfed in a hovering energy fog. The walls and floor were covered in creatures resembling aquatic plants.
Amongst the plants, they could see fist-sized devices, similar to energy generators, continuously releasing and maintaining the energy mist.
Balermo let out a roar, ready to charge, but Chen Gu held him back.
Chen Gu spread his hands and waved forward. Two double-headed laser swords shot out with lightning speed, slicing through the walls on both sides. With a CRASH, the aquatic plants and several devices came tumbling down!
The energy mist shattered instantly. Then, with SWOOSHING sounds, the remaining plants quickly retracted into the crevices of the surrounding walls and ground—a particularly eerie sight.
Chen Gu's body instantly swelled in size as his strength surged. He let out a roar and smashed his fist onto the ground.
BOOM!
The entire corridor shook violently. The crevices collided, directly severing many of the plants, while others were abraded into a blurry mess.
Their "wounds" oozed a sticky, dark green liquid that looked like blood.
The severed ones writhed on the ground like earthworms before slowly wilting and dying.
The remaining plants, despite being mangled, struggled and retreated. Then, an unsettling RUSTLING sound came from within the walls and beneath the ground as they moved away, adding to the eeriness.
Only then did Chen Gu let out a long, pent-up breath.
Balermo looked at Chen Gu. That doesn't look like Hell Titan's power. How can he be so strong?
"You should have said something earlier!" Balermo exclaimed. "If I'd punched, I guarantee none of these monsters would have escaped."
Chen Gu glanced at him and replied, "I just wanted to teach them a lesson, not get us buried alive in here."
Balermo smiled awkwardly. Indeed, if he had unleashed his punch without restraint, this corridor would have collapsed.
Chen Gu then said, "Now it's my turn to take the lead."
"Alright."
As Chen Gu moved forward, he asked, "What else do you know about the 'Prometheus Plan'? Do they have any other weapons that are ready for combat?"
"Besides the '[Rat Cage]' we just encountered, I've heard about 'Ursa Major Combat Suits,' 'Deep Space Cannon Family,' and 'Gaze Lock.' That's all I know," Balermo answered.
"'Ursa Major Combat Suits' are a type of battle armor that, upon activation, can directly absorb a professional's skills and convert them into its own energy," Balermo explained.
"'Deep Space Cannon Family' refers to a series of cannons of various sizes, from handheld cannons to the largest, which is said to be mountable on a Close Range Attack Ship."
"They can fire shells that automatically track professionals, inflicting damage that ignores any skill-based defense."
"As for 'Gaze Lock,' it's the most powerful. It seems to be eyeglass-shaped equipment. Once worn, it can lock onto targets with a glance, and the locked professional will find all their skills frozen, unable to change."
Chen Gu fiddled with the devices that had been releasing the energy fog, commenting, "They sound like mass-produced powerful gadgets."
"Even gadgets need professionals to use them, but these weapons can be operated by ordinary soldiers," said Balermo. "And apparently, the 'Prometheus Plan' has also devised numerous tactics targeted against professionals, though I doubt these creatures can make full use of those tactics."
Chen Gu had already roughly figured out the basic structure of the devices in his hand. Unsurprisingly, he found remnants of super matter and super life within them.
However, he couldn't quite grasp their principle yet, so he temporarily stored them in the Dimensional Prison Ring.
The Combat Rooster lifted its head with a proud CROW, its eyes darting around furtively. It then recalled carefully: Master didn't seem to have given the order 'do not eat'!
What an opportunity!
Although these few small things aren't enough to fill the gaps between my teeth, they emit such an 'enticing fragrance'!
The Combat Rooster wasn't foolish; it was ninety-nine percent sure its master had merely forgotten to mention it.
But since you didn't say it, you can't blame me entirely, right? There's a loophole to exploit!
So, its hefty body pressed low, it inched forward. Its tongue shot out with a SWISH, snatching one of the objects into its mouth, followed by a satisfied moan.
「...」
Chen Gu and Balermo stumbled upon a pile of corpses. Judging by their clothing, there were soldiers, civilians, and some individuals in black suits armed with weapons—likely high-end bodyguards.
When the disaster struck, these people must have fled here but ultimately couldn't escape their tragic fate.
Chen Gu checked and breathed a sigh of relief, "Gascolin Hondarei is not here."
This section of the corridor was rather low, and Balermo, not paying attention, bumped his head. He cursed under his breath, used his toe to flip over a corpse, and then heard a CLICK as if something had come loose.
Chen Gu, with his sharp eyes, spotted a small yellow grenade pinned under that corpse.
