Chapter 339: A Premature End

Each seat in the round table was several hundred feet apart. At this time, inside the sacred hall, there were only the two, nephew and uncle.

Even though elder Ronan had slapped the living daylights out of Skar’s face, the latter hadn’t retaliated, and in truth, he did not react whatsoever.

Instead, his gaze was attracted away from Ronan’s figure and toward the center of the round table, toward the world-peering orb.

Ronan took a random seat and looked into the world-peering orb as well. This was something he had grown accustomed to. Every time Skar lost himself, this was the best remedy.

Skar’s expression was part cruel, part something else. This time, when he saw the scenes within the world-peering orb, a strange emotion settled in the depths of his eyes.

The world-peering orb showed the scenes of a mortal elven girl with yellow gold hair and bright, green eyes.

Naturally, this was in the first layer of the Bleeding Caved Space where mortals alone existed. Unlike the other layers, the first layer contained innumerable mortal worlds, separate material dimensions that had produced countless otherworldly creatures.

Even though otherworldly ascension itself was very difficult, when the number of mortals attempting it reached a certain number, it was only natural that the result would lead to countless otherworldly creatures.

And in this world, no matter which human territory it was, mortal life was innumerable and beyond count.

Mortals were insignificant.

At least, the unspoken consensus between otherworldly creatures was that mortal life was insignificant.

There were simply too many mortal lives.

This mortal elven girl, in a past life, was Skar’s lover. Naturally, Skar had become an otherworldly creature, and she did not.

Instead, she had died three times since.

There was a limit to a mortal soul that went through the process of reincarnation. After a couple more lifetimes, her soul would simply dissipate.

When Skar saw her, wanton desire appeared in his eyes. It was a pity, a real pity. At that time, they both promised the other to walk step by step, an eternal journey of bliss.

However, man proposed, and god disposed.

This journey ended prematurely.

There were countless stories that followed such a premise.

...

Fiend Soul Desert.

The sun was blazing, the rays were like countless arrows shooting down at the majestic Fiend Soul Desert.

On the Fiend Soul Desert, there were countless translucent statues with savage auras and demonic appearances.

The statues radiating an aura of savagery had the forms of beast-faced humans, some were depicted in fighting states whilst some were lying down, looking like they were in their final moments.

There were larger and smaller translucent statues, but the smallest one was tens of feet tall.

There were countless savage status spread through the Fiend Soul Desert. Millions of miles of savage statues, even from the very outskirts, the savage statues presiding that area were capable of slaughtering a group of ordinary Realm Fathers.

At a million miles into the Fiend Soul Desert, the savage statues became semi-corporeal.

Their strength multiplied thousands of times, and they were comparable to the Realm Fathers of Ten Folds.

Once passing them and reaching the one hundred million miles mark, there was the core area where the Fiend God Horns containing the Fiend God Spirit resided.

The Fiend Soul Desert was once known as the Blood Soul Desert, but this was a very long time ago.

Due to the emergence of the Fiend God Spirit, the Blood Souls took on beastly traits, making them much more savage and powerful.

Ever so often, the Sky Drifting Mountain from Adversity Snaky Hills would assign a group of geniuses to reduce the number of Fiend Souls to prevent a Fiend Wave.

This was also a fortuitous opportunity for young geniuses since the Fiend Souls were great resources for the soul, and more importantly, there was a core part of a Heavenly Armament that nurtured these Fiend Souls, the Fiend God Horns.

Once a Realm Father acquired this, their status would instantly elevate beyond the 2nd Layer’s Sky Drifting Desert.

The Fiend God Horns was naturally the core part of the Fiend God Heavenly Armament.

A billion miles deep into the Fiend Soul Desert, a lone figure sat cross-legged in a sea of dark, murderous aura.

His long hair draped tall back and was akin to a blood river on the sand. He wore dark armor with red accents, and his fiery eyes burned with a crimson intensity.

What stood out were a pair of horns darker than ink which protruded from either temples and curved upwards.

They were over six feet long and carried a visceral image.

Elshen was in a daze.

Ever since refining the Fiend God Horns, his heart had become restless.

Moving on instinct, he pulled out a tree branch from his inner world that was neither long nor short.

This was a branch of the world tree!

It suddenly trembled and escaped his grasp, devouring cosmic energy before manifesting in the form of Astaria.

There was a moment of silence that enveloped the duo. Even though her eyes were blindfolded, they shared a knowing glance at each other.

"Too sudden, too very sudden." Astaria sighed. Anon did not understand her words, but she slowly explained, "The world has finally given way, prematurely. This is the end."

This....

She didn’t need to say much, but Anon already came to an understanding. No wonder he was feeling so restless.

"Explain everything." Anon urged. Instinctively, he knew that death was neigh. This death wouldn’t be like his previous death, but one of complete erasure.

Astaria shook her head.

"Where do I start?" She mused, "Long ago, before the creation of this world, an unknown entity achieved a unique status, transcending the source world and stepping into the world beyond, the true dimension, the unfathomed archaic space."

Her words contained truths that could not be easily spoken. This was the rule of the world, but the world itself was, according to her, already coming to an end.

She continued, unhindered, "But this entity sought more. As countless eons passed, and time grew meaningless, even an eternity became but a cycle, and more creatures appeared in the unfathomed archaic space."

"This entity, however, was not satisfied with comprehending the so-called unfathomed archaic space. He sought to transcend the unfathomed archaic space itself, and only he, the Ancestral Dark, could dare attempt such a mad act."

"Nonetheless, the unfathomed archaic space would not allow this. Or more precisely, the Ancestral Dark had miscalculated. He did not make enough preparations. In the end, he faced the backlash of his actions and the punishment of the unfathomed archaic space."

"He was destroyed in both body and spirit. His world, this world, containing a fragment of his will, nurtured his second coming. But due to this, it faced the corrosion of the unfathomed archaic space, and without the presence of a Lord God, teetered on the brink of destruction."

"All creatures within this world are connected to the Ancestral Dark. The Overlords are simply the largest of his fragments, with the Human Lord being the largest fragment of his logic. The Celestial Supreme is the largest fragment of his intuition, whereas the Great Infernal King is the largest fragment of his emotions."

"You, Anon, is the largest fragment of his obsession, hence, you could even devour death. You should’ve been able to devour all of his other fragments as well."

"In fact, your True Father would’ve assisted you in devouring logic too. After all, the Ancestral Dark focused more so on logic but had failed, hence when he returned again, he was more inclined to be led by his obsessions."

Anon smiled.

There were many things that still filled him with doubts, but many more things had been answered.

"And my True Father?" He asked.

"The Human Lord is truly brilliant. He awakened the largest fragment of the Ancestral Dark’s logic, as well as the largest fragment of the Ancestral Dark’s imagination. But these two things could not be perfectly united, creating a split personality." Astaria explained.

Anon nodded his head.

In the face of erasure, he was not regretful.

After all, there was nothing to regret. No matter how he changed the past, nothing would change this end, because the cause originated form a time long before his own birth.

"We are all essentially the Ancestral Dark, so is it that we will now cease to exist?" Anon threw out one final ball of hope, asking Astaria.

Astaria paused.

At this time, both Anon’s and Astaria’s bodies were fading at a rate visible to the naked eye. It was not limited to their bodies either, but the world around them as well.

Their own strength was being sapped away at an infinitely incredible speed.

"The Ancestral Dark found me, the world tree, in a forbidden location of the unfathomed archaic space. I have spent several eternity cycles at his side."

"One thing is for certain, the Ancestral Dark creates the worst feasible scenarios before acting, and he visualizes methods to reverse these scenarios into his own fortune."

"I do not know if this is the end, but I do know that the Ancestral Dark has already seen through this, and made preparations for this premature end to your journey."

"I truly believe, you, Anon, the second-coming of the Ancestral Dark, will not be permanently erased."
