Full-Time Public Enemy-Chapter 771 - 526 Rescue Operation (Part 4)
Marshal Zhu Peng couldn't hide his envy. "What kind of weapon is this? I, a grand marshal and commander of the main forces, didn't even know our military had such a potent new weapon?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
How infuriating!
Excitement shone in Luo Qian's eyes. "It looks like perhaps we can rescue those heroes after all!"
Zhu Peng thought for a moment then said decisively, "Call Bai Yunpeng. That scion surely knows who this person is! He's so devious with his tactics; how dare he keep me in the dark!"
The cave structure was incredibly stable, located at the base of a massive mountain and surrounded by the planet's hardest rock. Otherwise, the cavern would have collapsed long ago under the fierce attacks of the enormous swarm outside.
Even so, the squad of military professionals stationed there suffered heavy casualties.
A barrage of exploding spikes flew in. The professionals inside the cave either dodged or used their skills to resist, but one professional, having exhausted his strength, was struck by seven or eight spikes in a row and blown to pieces in the explosion!
"Xiao Chao!" A cry of pain echoed. Ten people had come this time. Aside from three at the Sixth Energy Level, the rest were at the Fourth and Fifth Energy Levels—all young talents with bright futures. But now, only five remained. With Xiao Chao's death, besides the three at the Sixth Energy Level, there was only one Fourth Energy Level professional left—Bai Zhichu, Bai Yunpeng's nephew.
The dense swarm of Insect Race creatures surged forward again. Everyone was at the end of their rope; even the three Sixth Energy Level individuals were almost completely spent.
They weren't Psychological Spies, a Profession suited for group battles, and could only struggle bitterly against the Insect Race hordes, a far cry from Gong Shuxu's effortless performance.
Though outside the cave the corpses of Insect Race creatures piled up like mountains, they still couldn't break out.
The Sixth Energy Level Alchemical Artisan, Zhou Buwu, let out a bitter laugh as he stood up. Looking out at the sea-like army of the Insect Race, he declared with solemn resolve, "It's inevitable for a general to die on the battlefield. As a soldier, there's no regret in such an end!"
He spread his arms, drawing in a massive amount of matter from the surrounding environment. These materials combined and reacted, forming a huge alchemical bomb in front of him.
Just at that moment, something colossal crashed down from above onto the swarm of Insect Race creatures nearing the cave entrance, instantly smashing the dozens at the forefront to bits.
Before the four survivors in the cave could clearly see what had fallen, more enormous dark figures rained down one after another.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM...
These objects not only crushed numerous Insect Race creatures, but their stored bio-energy burst-combustion charges also detonated, throwing the swarm into chaos and causing innumerable casualties.
"Titan Moths!"
This was one of the Insect Race's strongest aerial combat forces on the planet's surface. How could they be falling out of the sky in such numbers?
"Could it be reinforcements have arrived?"
But Bai Zhichu suddenly looked horrified and urged Zhou Buwu, "Captain Zhou, quick, quick, throw it now!"
Zhou Buwu then realized he had been momentarily distracted; the alchemical bomb in his hand was on the verge of exploding!
He let out a yell and pushed the bomb far away. The extra-large alchemical bomb flew thousands of meters before landing in the densest part of the swarm, where it exploded, gouging out a deep pit and sending smoke skyward.
A wave of retrospective fear washed over the four inside the cave—if they had been careless and it had exploded in there...
"Quickly, go look! What exactly happened? To knock down so many Titan Moths at once, it must be the main force's Close Range Attack Ship that has arrived."
Bai Zhichu's figure flashed and disappeared. Being a Quantum Wizard, he teleported to a hidden location outside. He looked up, only to find the sky empty—there was no sign of any Close Range Attack Ship.
Then he saw Chen Gu fire the Destruction Cannon for the second time, and half of the remaining Titan Moths fell...
I'm also a descendant of the Bai family, privy to many military secrets. How did I not know we had such powerful individual mecha weapons? Bai Zhichu was dumbstruck.
After firing two shots, Chen Gu saw his energy reserves plummeting and finally regained some clarity. He looked up; the swarm of Titan Moths in the sky had already scattered in disarray.
The Insect Race was indeed fearless in the face of death, but such a blow instilled a natural fear in them. The commander behind the scenes couldn't understand what was happening and naturally couldn't let the precious, top-tier aerial combatants—the Titan Moths—be sacrificed needlessly, so they were recalled.
Not only that, but the Insect Race forces on the ground also stopped their fierce assault, swiftly retreating and drastically easing the pressure on the cave.
Inside, Zhou Buwu asked, "Little Bai, did you see clearly?"
Zhou Buwu was also perplexed. When they had reestablished contact with the military earlier, they had been grieved to learn that sufficient forces couldn't be diverted to rescue them in the short term—so how had reinforcements arrived now?
Bai Zhichu responded, "Captain, you should all come out. The support that came for us... I can't quite explain it. Just come out quickly."
The three Sixth Energy Level individuals also emerged. Seeing the rapidly approaching joint search team in the sky, they felt a touch of the surreal. That terrible carnage was caused by just these dozen or so people?
Bai Zhichu whispered, "Actually, it was only one person who caused it." He subtly pointed to Chen Gu, somewhat proudly, "Look at the military emblem—he's one of us!"
