Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 370 - 309: Ambition
A few more days passed, and Minos’s injuries healed.
His three broken wings grew back, whiter and more beautiful than ever. The new feathers felt even finer and softer to the touch than those of his old wings.
Sang Luo loved stroking Minos’s wings even more now. She’d often tease him until he was red-faced and flustered. But eventually, he grew bolder and would deliberately extend his wings before her while feigning composure. It was no different from someone dangling a toy in front of a cat.
Sang Luo, for her part, let her true nature show and grew lazier by the day.
Her days consisted of nothing but eating and sleeping, focused on nurturing her pregnancy.
Her once-oval face was starting to look round, and she had gained over ten pounds.
At first, Sang Luo would sigh dramatically while pinching the extra bit of flesh on her belly, but Minos was delighted. He wished she would eat even more, ordering his servants to send all sorts of Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures and nutritional supplements to her chambers.
Gradually, Sang Luo came to accept it, quietly chanting to herself, ’It’s all for the baby in my belly!’
One day, Minos returned from the council hall at noon to find Sang Luo lying leisurely on the bed, wearing only a white sleep robe.
She was reading a comic book, popping grape-like Spirit Fruits into her mouth one by one from a platter beside her. Her fair, slender calves were exposed, swinging back and forth whenever she got to an exciting part.
Hearing footsteps at the door, she didn’t even lift her eyelids. "Come rub my legs. And then my feet!"
A Servant who had just been transferred to the palace, accustomed to the Holy Monarch’s typically cold and ruthless public demeanor, felt a nervous sweat break out upon hearing the Holy Empress’s casual tone. In the past, Saint Kings and Holy Queens had always been a pairing of the most optimal male and female Angels for the purpose of procreation. There might have been affection, but not much. Most lived their lives treating each other with polite distance, and once children were born, they went their separate ways.
’Besides, the current Holy Monarch is the only Divine Angel in ten thousand years. How could she ask the Holy Monarch to do such a thing? It’s completely improper.’
The Servant cautiously raised his head to peek, but he saw no sign of anger on the Holy Monarch’s face.
Minos walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. He lifted one of Sang Luo’s calves, placed it across his lap, and began to gently knead the smooth, soft skin. His technique was surprisingly practiced!
"The other one now," Sang Luo said after he finished with her left, wiggling her right leg. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Minos placed her right leg across his lap and carefully massaged it, while Sang Luo went back to her comic, completely absorbed.
After he finished with her legs, his gaze fell upon her small feet.
They were perfectly shaped and fair, with a delicate pink hue. Utterly beautiful.
His long, slender hands were a bit larger than her feet, easily cupping one in his palm as the pads of his fingers began to gently and slowly knead the acupressure points.
His eyes gradually darkened.
So engrossed in her book, Sang Luo didn’t notice that all the palace servants had withdrawn.
A light kiss on the sole of her foot sent a jolt, like an electric current, shooting up from the ticklish flesh and through her entire body. Goosebumps instantly erupted on her skin. She tried to yank her foot away, but Minos held it firmly in his hand, rubbing it with just the right amount of pressure.
He looked down at it, mesmerized, wanting to kiss it again.
Sang Luo’s eyes widened, and her face flushed crimson. "Don’t, it’s dirty!"
"It’s not dirty. I love it. I bathe you in my arms every night. You’re very clean, and you smell wonderful." Minos lowered his head and gave it another kiss.
"...Hmph! Don’t even think about kissing me on the mouth for the next three days!" Sang Luo chided him in embarrassment, but the upward curve of her lips betrayed her mood.
"Are you finished reading?" Minos asked, glancing at the comic book in her hands. She had been obsessed with it for the past few days, even pulling a few all-nighters to read it.
"Finished. The male lead is dead, the female lead is dead... a real ’happily ever after,’ hahaha... boohoo." ’I’m going to file a complaint with the author!’
"...Don’t read this kind of nonsense in the future." Minos took the book from her hands and fed her a Divine Fruit.
After eating the fruit, Sang Luo took his hand and placed it on her belly. "Is it getting a little bigger?"
"You’ve been eating a lot lately. It’s only been a little over six months; the baby wouldn’t develop this fast."
Sang Luo sighed as she lay on the bed. ’Another long pregnancy, it seems.’
"Speaking of which, why did you choose me back then? Did you already know that I would bear your child?"
"...Yes." Minos didn’t try to hide it; he admitted it outright.
As it turned out, Sang Luo wasn’t angry. ’She had figured as much long ago.’
"That time, I saw from your fate that our union would give birth to a pure-blooded heir with a powerful bloodline. You were an excellent vessel for procreation and the most suitable choice for my partner."
"So that was my designated role in your eyes at first, huh? What about now?"
"Ever since you left," Minos said in a low voice, "my mind has been filled with nothing but you."
It was because he loved her that he was bothered by the other men in her life.
He now saw her as his life partner, not merely a vessel for procreation.
Sang Luo nodded. "So you don’t mind that I have other Beast Husbands now?"
"I mind. But I can tolerate it."
"Why?"
"Your line of fate has changed again. I saw other things." Minos reached out and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, but he didn’t elaborate. His voice paused for a moment before he said, "And I will make the choice that is most advantageous for you."
...
The Angel Clan had a special diet for pregnant women, and Sang Luo’s morning sickness had eased considerably, with episodes becoming rare.
Whenever Sang Luo was bored in the Holy Palace, she would send for her children to come and play.
"Daddy isn’t home lately. He’s gone to see the Priest." The two little Phoenixes spoke quite fluently now, their high, childish voices utterly adorable.
Sang Luo scooped the two little fluffballs into her arms and ruffled their fluffy little heads. "The Priest? Did your daddy say when he would be back?"
"We don’t know. He’s been gone for a few days," said Little Fatty Ball.
"Why does Mommy get the feeling you’ve gotten fatter again?" Sang Luo lifted Little Fatty Ball in her palm, bouncing him a bit, then lifted Little Lucky Star to weigh him for comparison.
’Little Fatty Ball weighed almost as much as two Little Lucky Stars put together!’
Sang Luo said to Little Zhenzhen, "When you go back, remind your Uncle Phoenix that there are limits to spoiling a child. Tell him to feed Little Fatty Ball less and control his diet. Otherwise, if he gets this fat, who knows if he’ll even be able to fly in the future!"
"I know, Mommy. I’ll be sure to tell Uncle Phoenix!"
Little Fatty Ball instantly wilted.
Sang Luo said earnestly, "Mommy is only doing this for your own good!"
She asked the children how they’d been, and it turned out their studies were going quite well.
Little Blue Eucalyptus mentioned that Lou Xianyue hadn’t been idle recently; he had taken over many territories in the Central Sea.
His father wasn’t relying on military force, but on strategy. Without deploying a single soldier or drawing a single blade, he’d convinced the people of many regions to defect to the South Sea, bringing their cities with them.
Sang Luo smiled. "Your father was never this ambitious before."
’She knew why, of course.’
’Everything Lou Xianyue was doing now wasn’t for his own sake, but for their two children—especially his little daughter.’
’He needed a stronger power base to protect his daughter.’
"So, Mommy, do you think what Daddy is doing is a bad thing?"
"Of course it’s good. It’s great to be ambitious. I always thought he was a bit too laid-back as the South Sea Sea King. His personality was so easygoing, he seemed more like a carefree young lord who enjoyed romance among the flowers and under the moon than the king of a sea... Ah, he reminded me of those famous scholar-emperors from history who lost their kingdoms. Now that he’s showing his sharper side, I couldn’t be more pleased."
