Chapter 371: Chapter 310: The Angel Saint Ancestor Emerges from Seclusion

In the blink of an eye, two or three years had passed.

Sang Luo’s belly had grown a little round. All her previous pregnancies had been with Beastman cubs, but this Angel cub was the most similar to a human one, and her pregnancy symptoms were the strongest yet.

The further along she got, the more she suffered from bouts of morning sickness.

She also had the constant urge to use the restroom, having to get up four or five times a night. Her face had even started getting oily and breaking out!

Heaven knows that ever since Sang Luo’s cultivation level had risen, her face had been exquisitely delicate, soft, and fair, her pores nearly invisible. Never mind how it utterly captivated her Beast Husbands; even she couldn’t help admiring her reflection in the mirror every day. But now, her forehead was covered in small pimples—a truly miserable sight. She sighed at her reflection every day, not even wanting to go out and see anyone.

She especially didn’t want to see Minos, the "culprit"!

"Luoluo." Minos returned to their chambers after finishing his duties, only to find she had shut herself inside and wouldn’t come out. He heard from a Servant that the Holy Queen had barely touched her lunch.

"The evening breeze is cool. Would you like to go for a walk after dinner? Many of the flowers in the garden have bloomed."

"No, I’m not in the mood today. I just want to be alone for a while..." Her voice was listless.

Minos took the food from the Servant and entered. A quick glance revealed the hall was empty, without a single attendant present. He walked through the living area to the bedroom, where a white bed curtain was drawn. He could faintly make out a figure moving inside.

Minos placed the tray on the table, walked over, and drew back the bed curtain.

Sang Luo dove under the covers with a WHOOSH!

Minos sighed, pulling her from the bed into his arms. Seeing her still covering her face tightly, he said, "...Move your hands."

Sang Luo slowly lowered her hands, her small face scrunched up in resentment. When she woke up this morning, two big, red pimples had appeared at the corners of her mouth, looking particularly comical.

"This is all your fault!" Sang Luo grabbed his hand and bit down hard.

"My fault," Minos said, his eyes filled with a mixture of helplessness and adoration. A golden light flowed from his fingertip, and the pimples on her face vanished. Of course, he had tried this before; they would only pop up again in a few days.

The symptoms of pregnancy were unavoidable; there was nothing he could do.

"It will be better after you give birth. It’s not like I mind."

"Hmph! You dare to mind? I’ll twist your head off." Sang Luo bit his firm forearm hard again, leaving two rows of faint red, neat teeth marks.

A hint of amusement surfaced in Minos’s golden eyes. Only she dared to speak to him like this. "Yes, twist my head off and kick it around like a ball."

Having vented her frustration, Sang Luo snuggled into his arms, her voice languid and sweet. "Why are you back so late today?"

Minos stroked her frizzy hair. "Today is the day the Saint Ancestor comes out of seclusion. As the Holy Monarch, I had to greet him personally. I’ve been busy all day and only just got free to come back."

"The Saint Ancestor? No wonder it was so noisy outside while I was trying to sleep. He needed you to greet him personally? What’s with all the fanfare?"

"Yes. The Saint Ancestor is the founder of the current Holy Hall. He is a senior respected by generations of Holy Monarchs. The proper etiquette cannot be skipped."

"Well then, by all rights, since I’m your Holy Queen, shouldn’t I also go pay my respects to this Saint Ancestor?"

"It’s up to you. It’s not required. You aren’t from the Holy Hall originally, so you have no real connection to them." Although Sang Luo was his Holy Queen in name, Minos had no intention of using that title to trap her or make her his subordinate. He knew she was a free-spirited person who loved her independence. She didn’t care for titles like Holy Queen or Queen; if she could, she’d gladly be the king and marry them into her household.

Hearing him say that, Sang Luo was relieved. "Then I won’t go. I hate superficial flattery more than anything."

"Alright." Minos smiled and brought the tray over. "Is your appetite better now? Have something to eat."

After eating, Sang Luo went for a stroll with him before they returned to rest for the night.

Minos was very busy for the next few days, leaving early and only returning at night.

One day, after Sang Luo finished her breakfast, a Servant brought her a cup of wine.

Sang Luo smelled the rich aroma of the wine; it was clearly a rare and fine vintage.

Minos didn’t like her drinking too much, and she hadn’t touched a drop during her pregnancy. She set the cup down and asked the Servant, "Did the Holy Monarch send this?"

"No, the Saint Ancestor sent it. It’s a fine Spiritual Wine meant to nourish the body. He asks the noble female to drink it."

Sang Luo said, "The Saint Ancestor and I are complete strangers. Why would he show such concern for a junior like me?"

"The Holy Queen is a distinguished guest of our Angel Clan. The child you carry is the heir to the next generation of the Holy Hall. The Saint Ancestor naturally shows you great concern."

Sang Luo hesitated for a moment, then picked up the cup and was just about to drink.

A long, elegant hand took the cup from her.

Minos drained the wine in a single gulp. When he looked at her, his brow was furrowed in gentle rebuke. "You’re still pregnant. Don’t drink things like this."

"Wine is a fine thing, a little drink warms the body..."

Her voice trailed off as she looked toward the doorway.

A man was walking toward them, silhouetted by the light. He was tall and dressed in magnificent robes. Though middle-aged, he still possessed a distinguished air, and one could see the sharp, handsome features of his youth. He was clearly no ordinary person.

Sang Luo had a strong suspicion about the newcomer’s identity.

Minos placed his right hand over his chest and bowed respectfully. "Greetings, Saint Ancestor."

Saint Ancestor Oria smiled and nodded, his gaze turning to Sang Luo. The emotion hidden in his long, golden eyes was not entirely pure. "I have only just come out of seclusion. I have been swamped with affairs these past few days and haven’t had the chance to meet the Holy Queen. I hope the Holy Queen doesn’t mind."

Sang Luo found his polite tone a little odd. She also placed a hand over her chest, bowed, and smiled. "You are too kind, Saint Ancestor. I should have been the one to seek an audience with you. I have only delayed because my pregnancy has made it inconvenient. It is good enough that the Saint Ancestor does not blame me."

Oria glanced at the empty cup on the table. "The fine vintage I had specially sent over... did the Holy Empress not enjoy it?"

Minos interjected, "Luoluo is pregnant and shouldn’t drink such stimulating beverages. This Monarch accepts the Saint Ancestor’s kind gesture on the Holy Queen’s behalf."

Oria’s smile was amiable. He didn’t say much more on the topic, only asking, "The Holy Empress’s appearance doesn’t resemble that of a female from our Angel Clan. May I ask where you come from, and what species you are?"

"I come from the border of the Western Continent. My species is..." Sang Luo looked at Minos.

Minos said, "Human Race."

Sang Luo’s eyes flew wide open. He just said it, right out in the open!

The secret she had kept for so long... The few Servants in the hall looked surprised. Oria’s expression remained calm, but his tone gained a slight inflection. "Oh? That is something I did not expect. I thought the Human Race had long since vanished into the river of time. It seems there are still pearls left in the vast ocean. I must have been in seclusion for too long."

Sang Luo looked at Minos with trepidation, and he quickly gave her a reassuring look.

She had long possessed the ability to protect herself; there was no longer any need to hide this secret.

To the Genetic Beastmen, the Human Race was a lost treasure, enough to cause turmoil in the world. But to their Ancient Divine King Beast Species, the Human Race was no different from any other Beast Clan. The reappearance of the long-lost Human Race was merely a bit of a surprise, nothing more.

The Saint Ancestor didn’t do anything, however. It seemed he had simply come to see the new Holy Queen. After exchanging a few words, he left.

Sang Luo, who was sharp at sensing others’ emotions, looked at Minos. "That Saint Ancestor... it seems he doesn’t like me..."
