Chapter 165: The Shadow of the Third Realm

[The Apex Council - 1:15 AM.]

"Of course, it’s someone from the third realm!" Peter Cordel answered with a deep frown, his voice echoing in the magically reinforced chamber. As the Emperor of the Eagle Empire, he was well aware of the terrifying power scaling that existed beyond their current sky.

"Yeah, but insufficient people from the Third realm doesn’t even know other realms exist," Hayatobi countered, his face filled with confusion as he leaned back into the shadows. "Only someone in higher power, and places can know about our world... But, why would someone from the third realm attack Mirabella who came from Earth? A traveler from a low-energy world shouldn’t even be on their radar."

"I don’t think this person is specifically after Mirabella..." Keegan said, his eyes narrowing as he replayed the sensory data from the Hell Gate incident. "The Hell gate dungeon world Boss, who is known as Alphard, was about to tell Mirabella a secret... This secret must be so huge he or she had to intervene to stop it. The timing of the strike was too precise to be a coincidence."

"A secret." Bonita Zakinta held her jaw, her youthful face masked in ancient contemplation. In a world governed by power, information was often more lethal than a Lv500 sword skill.

"This is getting more tricky... It seems there is something the third realm knows about that we don’t... And they don’t want us to know about it." Fernando Swordwind said with a slight frown.

"Are they preparing to fight us?" Nadia muttered. Her words hung in the air like a death sentence, drawing everyone’s eyes toward her. Their faces, usually masks of imperial stoicism, were suddenly filled with dread.

The power gap was the issue. Not only were the denizens of the Third Realm higher than theirs in both spiritual energy and resources, but they also possessed individuals who had broken through the Lv500 ceiling. Such existences—beings who had transcended the hard-cap of the current World—were beyond their understanding. If such people chose to descend, it won’t even be a battle, but a one-sided bloodbath.

"In the past when we unlock the barrier connecting us to the first realm, we could withstand anything because we are stronger than anything in it. But now, we are the one on the weak ends," Nadia explained, her voice sharp with tactical realism. "If the barrier is removed, we will be in a huge disadvantage."

The four Guardians looked at one another and nodded in grim consensus. They were the guardians of the physical pathways, the sentinels of the gates, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be replaced or crushed by a superior force from above.

"So we will wait until when?" Keegan asked, staring at the group, looking for a timeline.

"Until this first batch of students graduate from the third level," Hayatobi said, placing his palm firmly on the table, centering the discussion. "By then, they would have gained more experience in war and combat."

He paused, calculating the upcoming calendar of the World. "After the Glory Flag competition, in five months, which made it one year, we will host a graduation party for those who pass the first level, and they’ll all advance to the second level! While doing that, we will also be welcoming the new students from the first realm, what do you all think?"

The rest of the council looked at one another, their minds racing through the logistics of such a massive shift in the academic and military sectors. Finally, they nodded their heads in agreement.

"I agree."

"Same."

"Ok, we will go with it."

As the votes were finalized, Jang Gu, who had been silent for a while, his purple eyes flickering with runic calculations, spoke up.

"Hope you all aren’t forgetting the dangers in the second and third levels of the academies. It’s not something that will be easy for any single Empire to manage," he said, his voice raspy with age. "So I suggest we merge all academies together in the second and third level."

"Hmm... This way, it will also grow the youngsters’ relationships... An academy the whole three empires can attend, it’s not a bad idea." Peter Cordel nodded, his political mind seeing the benefit of a unified front—and the chance to spy on his rivals’ prodigies.

"True... If our younger generation creates strong bonds with one another, we won’t have to worry about the future." Elrod Flameheart added, though his eyes remained on Hayatobi.

"Hahahaha!! Most of our sons and daughters haven’t taken the second level. It seems they will all start the moment these batch of students graduate..." George Bauhinia said with a booming laugh, causing Hayatobi to raise a suspicious eyebrow.

’This old man, what is he scheming now?’ Hayatobi thought, knowing the Sword Emperor never laughed without a hidden agenda involving his own advancement.

"Ok then, this meeting will stop here for now," Nita Vena said, standing up and towering over the table, her pink hair shimmering in the magical light.

"If something important comes up, don’t hesitate to let us all know... In the next meeting, we will decide the name of the combined second and third levels. And as for the glory flag competition..."

She stared at them with the weight of a Guardian. "It will continue as usual. This Competition is also used to renew all rankings of each empire and their students. Let the best survive." She stretched forth her hand toward the pulsating ball of white light before them.

Seeing her action, the other three guardians stood up in perfect unison, stretching their hands toward the orb to sever the connection.

"We will take our leave for now."

With a final flash of light, their ethereal bodies glowed brilliantly, and the four Guardians vanished from the chamber.

"Hahaha! We will also take our leave!" Elrod stood up. With Hayatobi at his side, they stretched forth their hands toward the ball, their projections dissolving into pixels of light as they returned to the Dragon Empire.

"That old man!" George snapped, his fist clenched as he stared at the empty seat where Elrod had been.

"Yeah! I am also speechless here." Peter stood up, his youthful face twisted in a mixture of frustration and awe.

"With Mirabella in the dragon empire team, our academies don’t even stand a chance against them. I mean, against her... If she goes on a rampage on the first round of the Glory Flag, we will be finished." He said with a deep, weary sigh.

In a world governed by levels and stats, these rulers already knew the terrifying truth: they weren’t just competing against an empire anymore; they were competing against a force of nature.
