Genetic Ascension-Chapter 1255: An Odd Confusion
Chapter 1255: An Odd Confusion
BANG!
Sylas shattered the body of another echo with a fist. This was already the third enemy he had faced, but he was already beginning to feel that he needed a different approach.
He couldn’t just randomly wander about. There was no telling if they would find Megean before he did or not. Plus, whether it was Megean or the Noble Demons, their understanding of this Golden Battlefield was beyond his own.
Sylas had thought about interrogating one of the Noble Demons, but he thought better of it. His strength was the main problem.
Sylas was powerful enough to deal with these Demons based on his combat effectiveness and clever use of his various Skills and methods. If he wanted to interrogate these Demons—not to mention the fact their fear of death couldn’t be weaponized the same way Sylas was used to on his own side of the world—he would need more raw strength than he had.
He could have used Compelling Gaze on Ansla, but she was only from the Barbed Chain Gang and couldn’t possibly have had the necessary information in the quantity and detail Sylas needed. They hadn’t even been told of the Golden Champion until the Duke decided to announce it.
The easiest method would have definitely been the Blazara, but then they all decided to kill themselves.
Plus, even if he had had the Blazara on his side, they definitely didn’t know as much as the Sanguara did. There seemed to be a clear tier divide between them that couldn’t be denied.
Sylas hesitated, his frown deepening.
*’It’s starting to get to me a bit.’*
He stopped moving. Looking at the world of fog around him, he exhaled a breath. There was definitely something odd about this fog.
He felt it the moment he entered. It was like the clash between his Chrono and Spatial Casting had been dialed up a hundredfold. And that pressure was making his True Pride Seed act up as well.
All of these things were too interlinked with his Will, and when one was weighed down with an anchor, the others were all pulled down together.
On the one hand, it made his Will exceptional. When he could pull out an Enlightened Will, two Legendary Progenitor Flame Abilities, and two Sin Seeds and one True Sin Seed... there were probably very few, if any at all, that could match his Will prowess at the F-tier.
The problem was that too many of them had issues.
His two Progenitor Flame Abilities clashed.
His Sin Seeds were, well... Sin Seeds. By their definition, they were designed to corrupt him.
His Enlightened Will was the only illuminating path... except for the fact the other half of it was his Enlightened Demonic Will, which was no less powerful.
Sylas had still never faced a single issue with it. His Demonic Will hadn’t bothered him since a certain Grimblade Heir’s death, his True Pride Seed hadn’t spilled over into something worse, while the clash of his Rune Mastery Paths hadn’t ever been a problem...
Until he stepped into this world.
*’Was I overthinking things?’*
Sylas had tried to suppress his desire to explore because he had felt his pride tilting in ways he didn’t like, so he immediately corrected it. But had he been too sensitive?
*’No, this world is making me more sensitive. My affinity to time is making my own emotions stretch out a bit. I need to recalibrate the way I’m evaluating my own internal thoughts...’*
When Sylas realized this, he began to filter how he was feeling differently and the world cleared up around him. All of a sudden, the heavy fog over his senses vanished.
He took a breath and exhaled.
*’It’s not just time. It’s their emotions. There’s so much Pride on this battlefield. So much Gluttony. So much Lust. So much Sin...’*
The calmer Sylas became, the more he realized just how much was bombarding him.
"—Wake up!"
The voice of the little girl reached him and Sylas’ eyes narrowed.
"How long have you been screaming?"
"At least three minutes!" she said. "My throat is parched, give me something to eat for my troubles."
Sylas didn’t reply. What did being parched have to do with food?
"You should feed me more, you know! I’m here to help the Gluttony Seed grow. How can I do that if I’m starving all the time?"
Sylas still didn’t reply. Wasn’t he hitting the daily Gene requirements? What more did she want?
It seemed that there were many confounding factors that made him feel so uncomfortable. This was also a Demonic Battlefield, so his Demonic Will was also more stimulated than usual.
But what was also true was that he had managed to wake up on his own—and so quickly at that. It just went to show that he had even less to worry about with his combination of abilities than he thought.
This place was practically tailor-made to bring him to his knees... and yet it was still unable to.
The little girl also refused to admit how impressed she was by this. She still wasn’t over the fact Sylas had figured out how to fix his technique with the Lust Seed in a single week either.
*’But... this also makes this the perfect place...’*
Now that his mind was clear, Sylas realized that he wasn’t at a disadvantage in this place at all. If anything, he was in the best position, even if he factored in the awakening of a certain person’s True Blood. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
Sylas threw out the plan he had originally come here with and sat on the ground in meditation. He summoned a Demonic Emperor that wrapped around him in silence, keeping an eye out on the surroundings.
He inhaled and exhaled, breathing in slowly and exhaling even slower.
He grew calmer, more controlled, more deliberate in his breath.
It was said that awakening a Progenitor Flame Ability—Legendary or not—was just the beginning. How powerful it was became entirely dependent on the exploration of the party himself.
That sounded quite familiar to Sylas... something Gralith had also said about Spark Mastery.
Well, it was about time he saw just how far he could push this.
