Genetic Extra In The Apocalypse-Chapter 68: Their fates
An influx of out-worlders threatened to overwhelm the remaining students.
More of their numbers fell by the droves, as the fifteen and fourteen year olds died one after the other.
Those who were unable to defend themselves died, and those that survived, saw their points rapidly accelerating. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Seraphina moved between bodies of out-worlders, that kept swarming her, each one intending to tear her to shreds, her form disappearing in and out of shadows.
Her hands as well moved like lightning flashes, each strike ripping a life, or severely damaging one, that her next strike was sure to do the job... If they didn’t die from her poison before then that is.
Her eyes were cold and Lazer focused, each movements playing Inside her head in slow motion. Her breaths on the other hand, were slightly laboured, and a faint glean of sweat kept a few strands of her lustrous hair glued to her forehead.
Roots and vines moved around like living beings between her and the and the horde of out-worlders, plucking their lives, like they were the hands of Hades himself.
Some were crushed between interlocking vines that squeezed them till pop, others impaled by vines that fell like spears of judgement.
’I can’t keep this on long enough,’ she thought darkly, her face tightening into a frown.
Her mana was running low, and her stamina wouldn’t sustain long enough. Using her plant affinity consumed a lot of mana, which was shy she hadn’t displayed it since.
Not only was there no water around to offset the burden, the land was dry, hard and caked. For the vine seeds she always carried around to sprout for her to use, it needed to consume a generous amounts of her mana.
That wasn’t all. Even after that, she needed to continuously supply a steady influx of mana, to control them into moving around. For a very powerful affinity, it likewise had a very powerful drawback.
And as she jumped between shadows, further expending more and more mana, she was quickly beginning to run out of options.
Her face contorted into a grimace, not liking the idea of what she was about to do. It was for one reason she wished she had been born with mist affinity to go with her poison and plant affinity, instead of shadow.
But beggars couldn’t be choosers... especially before fate. Not like she would give up her affinity for shadows for anything else.
She inhaled deeply, taking as much air into her body as she could in one breath. Then her nine orifices opened up, and the air she had taken in began perfusing into the air as gas through them.
Her eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, rear, and even her nether region, were not exempted.
The gas was colourless and odourless... Almost imperceptible to the eye, but its effects were anything but... Even her eyes stung a little from them.
While she barely suffered a sting, its effects on the out-worlders on the other hand was devastating.
Its effects were not quickly noticeable, but were prevalent. The out-worlders began to choke on air, their eyes turning bloodshot. All the while, Seraphina never stopped her movements for once... for that reason, she often released fart sounds that made her grit her teeth in anger.
As more and more if them inhaled the gas, the pressure on her began to drop gradually, as they began to slow, paralysis taking over their muscle functions... Respiratory muscles including.
Seraphina continued her session of inhaling and releasing into the air, dousing the area in a thick, concentrated air of poison, and the out-worlders began to drop dead one after the other.
By the time she was done, only a few out-worlders were still left standing, their breaths loud and growly as they struggled for air against the suffocation, all the while still pushing towards her.
Seraphina at the point was almost completely spent. Her mana reserves... three mana cell clusters, were almost completely exhausted, while her stamina had fallen.
She stopped supplying the seeds with mana long ago, and the plants had already fallen limp to the sides, soon to be baked under the arid sun of the Gate.
She quickly made efficient work of the remaining stragglers, and she allowed her tense muscles to react, almost falling to the ground from the way her body swayed.
Her legs felt unable to hold and support her weight anymore, and so he plopped to the ground, uncaring about the blood and grime that resulted from her slaughter, throwing her dignified image, to the winds of exhaustion.

"He’s still alive?" She muttered in surprise, her gaze trained on Sean’s name that still hadn’t turned grey, yet continuously kept dropping down the leaderboards, especially as more and more people racked up points, in their struggle for survival.
"I guess he’s injured or something along the lines," she whispered, throwing her head back, and pressing her weight on her arms.
DING!
Her wrist device rang, causing her to raise a brow, her left arm rasing to her eye level.
[ANNOUNCEMENT: Congratulations to participant Sean Storme for being the first to.....]
Her pupils constricted into pinpricks and her eyes trembled.

Thorne had been keeping track of the leaderboards, for a while now, trying to understand how Sean had continuously beaten him for the top position.
As far as he knew, the white haired boy had nothing asides his extraordinary body. But he had Horus, who led him to the out-worlders, using the motion detectors to point them out.
Then there was that loud explosion that rocked the entire place, and shattered what Horus called and imposed spatial barrier, meant to control their range of movement and exam difficulty.
His guts told him to head towards where it had been broke from... Where the explosion had been the loudest, and Horus did lead him there, directing him through its advanced memory storage.
But making it there was harder than it seemed. He was almost completely spent and needed a rest. He wasn’t even confining himself to three elements anymore, and even some internal augmentations from Horus was put into use.
The good news was, he was quickly catching up to Seraphina and would soon even surpass her. The bad news... He still wasn’t close to his goal.
DING!
