"What kind of guarantee are you asking for?" she replied. "The money?"

Daniel shook his head slowly.

"No," he said with a faint smile that carried a hint of cruelty. "The guarantee that you will definitely make Jenny suffer."

Lana looked at him with genuine puzzlement, her brows knitting together slightly.

"When did I say I would make Jenny suffer?"

The moment those words left her mouth, Daniel’s eyes narrowed sharply.

Before he could speak, however, Lana suddenly smiled faintly.

"Do you really think I don’t know that you have the power to record voices?"

Daniel’s eyes widened instantly.

He stared at Lana with disbelief written all over his face.

’How does she know that?’

That ability was a secret known only to a few maidservants and a handful of people within the household. No outsider should have known about it.

Yet Lana had just spoken about it so casually.

In reality, Lana had only guessed.

From what Jenny had previously told her, even though Jenny had killed the mistress back then, it would have been impossible for someone to record the entire incident and preserve it for years unless they possessed some kind of special ability or technology.

So Lana had made a simple assumption.

Daniel must have a talent related to recording.

Or perhaps some kind of gadget that allowed him to capture conversations.

Either way, her guess had clearly hit the mark.

Daniel stared at Lana grimly before speaking again. "So Jenny told you about my ability?"

His voice carried a faint trace of anger. "If that’s the case... then I’ll definitely teach that girl a good lesson."

Hearing those words, Lana chuckled softly, the sound echoing lightly in the dining room.

"It doesn’t matter whether you teach her a lesson or not," she replied calmly. "I’m offering you something valuable. All you need to tell me is whether you’re interested. Also, I have recorded the converstaion, so don’t think of blackmailing me. I also have Jenny’s testimony of how you have abused her."

The atmosphere in the room grew tense.

Daniel’s expression hardened as he leaned forward slightly.

"I’m interested," he said firmly.

He paused for a moment before adding, "But I have one request."

Lana raised an eyebrow. "And what is it?"

"Jenny must suffer."

Lana frowned slightly, clearly displeased by his words.

"I’m buying Jenny from you," she replied coldly. "Not renting her based on your conditions."

Her tone turned indifferent. "This offer is limited."

She glanced at the clock hanging on the wall.

"It’s ten o’clock," she continued calmly. "You have ten minutes to think about it."

Her fingers lightly tapped against the table.

"You can even consult Jenny if you want," she added casually. "But once the time runs out, the offer disappears."

She leaned back in her chair and looked directly into Daniel’s eyes.

"I can always find another Jenny."

Her voice grew colder.

"But you won’t find another Lana who is willing to offer you four hundred million dollars."

With that, she stood up from her seat and walked away calmly.

Daniel watched her leave, his jaw tightening slightly.

For a brief moment, he almost felt the urge to chase after her and agree immediately.

But he forced himself to stay seated.

’If she’s offering that much money,’ he thought carefully, ’then she must have a backup plan to take Jenny away anyway.’

Perhaps Lana desperately needed Jenny for something.

Maybe Jenny possessed something Lana wanted.

If that were true... then Daniel had leverage.

’Four hundred million is already a lot, but maybe I can ask for a bit more...’ he thought greedily.

So he decided to wait.

Understanding immediately, Monica led the rest of the subordinates outside to wait.

Once they were gone, Lana turned back toward Daniel.

"My lawyer will send you the draft of the contract," she said calmly.

"We’ll sign it in two stages. First, you review the contract. Then I review it. Only after both sides agree will we proceed with the signing."

Her gaze turned sharp. "And remember something."

Her voice dropped slightly.

"If you ever cause even the slightest harm to Jenny before the process is complete... You will lose everything."

She looked directly into his eyes.

"I don’t tolerate people hurting those I’ve taken an interest in."

Daniel’s eyes widened slightly.

However, when he thought about the enormous amount of money waiting for him, greed quickly overpowered his hesitation.

"Fine," he agreed.

Soon after, Lana walked out of the house.

As she stepped outside, she noticed a figure standing quietly by the window of one of the rooms.

Jenny.

Jenny was watching her anxiously through the glass.

Lana lifted her hand slightly and waved once in the air.

It was a signal they had agreed upon earlier.

If Lana succeeded, she would wave like that.

Jenny’s heart began pounding violently in her chest the moment she saw the signal.’
